I'm hoping we win 2-1.
The team is doing well but we have a few players missing this round.
Briguel and Fernando suspended. Wenio got injured in Training. But Manduca is back :clap :bowing
My starting lineup.
GK: Marcos
DF: Luis Filipe, Mitchell, Rui Marques, Eusebio
DM: Chainho, Zeca
AM: Alan, Leo Lima, Manduca
FW: Bibishkov or Pena

Why Rui Marques instead of Tonel?

Tonel seems to be carrying a slight injury. Seems that Barreto might be starting Rui Marques. Not sure. Could be just pregame bs by the manager lol
would be the debut game of Rui Marques, another player of Benfica youth schools taht left before even player a game in the senior team, like Cnadido Costa and Edson that now he's playin' in Tottenham
I'm hoping we win 2-1.

yap, that would be good, cause this time ther isn't Sporting to do that

i hope more Portuguese make it tight it makes the Portuguese league for interesting.
yap, that would be good, but the otehr teams don't have many supporters so they can't win many money to buy top players, only youngers and players finishig their careers like Beira-Mar's Srnicek

Under-rated team IMO...To many people called them a Pub team whe nwe played them. A lot bette than Amica anyway

Maritimo was always a dangerous team in Portugal, but this year they are serious for the Portuguese title.

another prove that maritimo isn't strong enough to fight for the first positions.
they have a very good team, but the players feel the responsability and the preasure in moments like these and lost precious points

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
u werent joking?
Maritimo are a top 6 side, and have always been dangerous (especially in funchal), but possible champions, not in the near future mate...
CMIYC
Oct 25 2004, 03:20 PM
no quaresma, they have a very good team but they can't handle with the preasure for being a minor club.
however they should be on top, fighting for european positions
yap, Maritimo wont is a near future fight for the portuguese title
CMIYC
Oct 25 2004, 03:23 PM
if they want to fight for it they should do the same as boavista when they win the league, sign some players with more experience in order to help the young ones in the preasure moments

To be honest, i personally think we do have some players that are very experienced.
Are only issue is goal scoring ablilty. Last year Maritimo where the team in the Superliga that missed the most chances in front of goal...
Once Silas recovers from his injuries, Leo Lima stops thinking about moving to a bigger club, Alan scores more goals and Bibishkov finally adapts to the Superliga we will be fighting for the title...

but i was saying experience players like sanchez, already champion before he was for boavista.
this is the kind of player who may stablish a team in the hard moments

u guys remember now if u finish thrid u get a chance to to CL b/c of Porto CL victory, Maritimo are serious for that spot. I say this b/c all portuguese not Porto, Benfica, Sporting, they all think about making UEFA b/c they have no chance of making CL b/c of Benfica, Sporting and Porto. But is see this year Maritimo are very serious in getting that CL spot or even winning Portuguese Title.

but i'll prefer they don't, cause the minor teams who are performing great lose some players in the next season and became weaker and portugal would be bad represent on the cl

but its true..that how those team think about before playing the season. Like when they are playing a big club in Portugal they defend just want that tie and get the hell out of there :laugh. But with Maritimo they just attack and attack, against Sporting they didn't sit back, they took to them. As well with Rangers in Portugal, but in Scotland Maritimo they defend b/c to keep there 1-0 lead, but they stilled pushed up front. Maritimo as really, really improved this year. I don't see them choking and going back to the midtable of portugal.

Oct 25 2004, 10:55 PM
yes, maritimo is playing great, they didn't even deserve the lost against rangers, but i predict they'll get worst next season

by the way, silas is loan from wolves or maritimo sign him?

Oct 25 2004, 11:02 PM
i think it is offensive for our football to call a Pub team to one of our best midtable teams, and it is funny that the ones who said that have a very amateurish league

that has happen alot in Portugal, I remember P.Ferreira and Belenenses and many more teams. They had good season and year after which was last year they had a very, very poor season.

because the major clubs sign some players after the great season they perform and the team became weaker and without capacity to do the same thing they have done.
vitoria de setubal is an example, is great this season but next one i bet they will fight to stay in superliga

They have always been a consistent team in the Superliga and playing in Funchal will always be a an advantage for us :)

well, Maritimo have a top quality striker on loan in SP.Espinho, João Paiva is a superb striker, Maritimo should give more chances to him in the next season
