Giovane Elber is looking to make a return to action early next year, but the Brazilian striker has admitted he felt his career could have ended at Metz in August.

The former Bayern Munich man dislocated his ankle and fractured a fibula playing for Lyon last month and is now on crutches after undergoing surgery.

Elber has revealed the torment that he went through at Metz on August 22: "I must admit on the Metz pitch, when I saw my leg and my right foot turned inside out, I believed my career was over."

However, he can now see some light at the end of the tunnel, as he added: "I will probably need three months before I return.

"After several examinations I found hope again. Today I only think about one thing: when I will be playing again

I still think he got the raw deal from Scolari for not being able to make it for Copa America and thus was banished from the national team but Lucio was not. Instead Scolari picked Luizao if my memory is correct and what has he done with his life since then?
