RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Three more coaches in the Brazilian championship have fallen since the weekend, all from clubs based in Rio de Janeiro.
Fluminense sacked Ricardo Gomes following Sunday's 1-1 draw at home to Paysandu on Sunday while Paulo Cesar Gusmao walked out on Flamengo and Mauro Galvao left Botafogo almost simultaneously on Monday.
Vasco da Gama were the only one of Rio de Janeiro's four first division clubs with a permanent coach on Tuesday as Flamengo announced that former midfielder Andrade would take over as caretaker for the second time this year.
The latest changes brought the number of coaching victims to 25 since the 24-team Brazilian championship started in late April.
Former Paris St Germain and Brazil defender Ricardo became the third coach to leave trouble-hit Fluminense this year after suffering the same fate as Renato Portaluppi and Valdir Espinosa.
Ricardo spent five months at the club, during which he struggled to maintain discipline over a squad which included so-called 'bad boys' Romario and Edmundo.
Gusmao, who began the championship in charge of Cruzeiro, left relegation-threatened Flamengo in protest at constant interference in the team from outside the coaching staff.
He complained that 'amateur' directors had gone into the changing room to take part in the halftime team talk during Saturday's 3-0 win over Gremio.
'I didn't imagine how much external factors would influence my work,' he said.
Botafogo's Mauro Galvao, whose team are 23rd in the table, blamed a lack of reinforcements for his decision to leave and added the team had run out of luck.
'Football is about results,' he told reporters. 'We played some good games, we managed to improve in some areas but, at a given moment, things stopped happening.'
In typical style, Gusmao was listed among the leading candidates to replace Ricardo at Fluminense and Ricardo was on the shortlist to take over from Gusmao at Flamengo.
