From Arsenal.com
Arsenal Ladies are officially turning semi professional next season, when they will receive financial recognition as players of Arsenal Football Club.
The team has proved itself as one of the most dominant sides in domestic football its history, and became the first team to represent England in the inaugural UEFA Women's Cup last season where they progressed through to the quarter-final stages.
Manager Vic Akers said "Arsenal Ladies FC is in its 15th season next year, and in this time has won seventeen major trophies including five National Premier League titles.
"The girls are determined to keep this success going, and the financial recognition from the board here at Arsenal will help keep the game moving forward in the right direction."
Arsenal Ladies will be moving to St Albans City's Clarence Park ground next season, where they will look to extend their honours and build on a successful spell in Europe having retained the National Premier League title for a second year in succession.
I know it's just a linguistic thing but I still cringe everytime someone refers to the women on this team as "the girls".
