ARSENAL have emerged as the mystery English side to have made a move for PSV Eindhoven duo Kevin Hofland and Mark van Bommel.
It was seemingly obvious that only so many English sides could even contemplate such a bid and now it has emerged that Arsene Wenger is hoping to do a deal, which would cost around Ģ30 million.
The Double winners will be keener than ever to make an impact on the Champions League next season, something they have yet to do under Wenger's control.
25-year-old van Bommel is the more likely of the two to depart The Philips Stadion this summer, although Arsenal know they face severe competition from the likes of Lazio and Barcelona.
Hofland, 22, a major target for Manchester United, has stated that he is willing to stay for another year in Eindhoven and that appears to be the most likely option for him at this stage.
Even if Arsenal fail to land either player, it does send a positive signal to their fans and daunting one to their rivals who will see that The Gunners are ready to add to their already deeply talented squad.
