762 spectators had come to Aupa Paukku Park this cloudy day. Euskobhoys started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Laucins - Toth, Robben, Haltia - O'Keeffe, Decker, O'Shannaig, Eggers, Gaffar - Mailhot, Kooi.

-AJAX- tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Hiemstra - Anokic, Vogels, van Wolde - Betil, Läflund, de Rooij, Veraart, Bekkering - Nyén, MacLellan.

-AJAX- took the lead after 2 minutes with 0 - 1. Bart de Rooij placed the ball out of reach for the home sides keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. After 22 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Bart de Rooij who increased -AJAX-´s lead to 0 - 2. The structure of the game started to change as -AJAX- decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Euskobhoys didn´t give in and in the 29:th minute Pierre-Vincent Mailhot was able to put the 1 - 2 goal away after a play from the right. The visitors Stefan Nyén took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and central backs in the 31st minute. 1 - 3 for -AJAX-. Marco van Wolde of -AJAX- received a yellow card in the 33rd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Stefan Nyén was, after 40 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors lead with a well placed diving header but home side keeper Indulis Laucins saved. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 3. -AJAX-, bringing the final ball possession rate to 54 percent, dominated the battle.

A marvelous Euskobhoys effort to the right resulted in a 70:th minute goal by Joe Kooi, putting the score up to 2 - 3. The referee showed Euskobhoyss Steven O'Shannaig the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Bart de Rooij could have put his team up another one in the 82nd minute, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. A well placed corner kick from Helmut Robben was followed by Kauko Haltia´s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant goal for Euskobhoys. The result now 3-3. Euskobhoys had a good opportunity to take the lead as Quinten Eggers came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Coos Hiemstra. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by -AJAX-, with an impressive 56 percent possession of the ball.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of overtime followed. The result was still a draw, so the game had to be settled with penalties. Euskobhoys´s Helmut Robben cooly put the ball past Coos Hiemstra. 4 - 3. -AJAX-´s Mattias O. Läflund made no mistake. Indulis Laucins didn´t have a chance. 4 - 4. Euskobhoys´s Rudie Decker was seemingly taken by the gravity of the moment, producing a badly laid penalty, blocked by Coos Hiemstra. Score still 4 - 4. -AJAX-´s Paul Vogels cooly put the ball past Indulis Laucins. 4 - 5. Euskobhoys´s Steven O'Shannaig looked insecure all the way from laying the ball down to clipping the ball miles wide of the crossbar. No goal. -AJAX-´s Ljubisa Anokic had nerves of steel at the penalty, changing the score to 4 - 6. Euskobhoys´s Pierre-Vincent Mailhot looked insecure all the way from laying the ball down to clipping the ball miles wide of the crossbar. No goal. -AJAX-´s Stefan Nyén, obviously having last minute doubt´s, produced a loose ball to the right post. Unfortunately Indulis Laucins made a premature move to the left and didn´t make it back. New score 4 - 7. Euskobhoys´s Theo O'Keeffe cooly put the ball past Coos Hiemstra. 5 - 7. -AJAX-´s Bart de Rooij was seemingly taken by the gravity of the moment, producing a badly laid penalty, blocked by Indulis Laucins. Score still 5 - 7. Euskobhoys´s best player was Dimitri Toth. Joe Kooi on the other hand, had a terrible day. -AJAX-´s best player was Marco van Wolde. Paul Vogels on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 7.

Due to an all-day shower, 946 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Wieringerwaard Arena. Blankestijn tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: van Zuijlen - Seinen, van Velzen, Apon - Dikmen, Brouwer, Di Stefano, van Strien, Aaftink - Oosterloo, Hidma.

FoggiaCalcio had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Buikstra - Devik, Albericci, Abbiati - Salter, Tarantola, Massobrio, Nilsen, Spann - Scalise, Franco Frolo.

The referee showed FoggiaCalcios Vito Abbiati the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. FoggiaCalcio had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team goaltender Hendrie van Zuijlen saved Giovanni Tarantola´s shot headed for the top corner. A header from Victor Brouwer connected with a corner kick after 18 minutes, and the ball ended up with Derek van Strien of Blankestijn who shot the 1-0 goal. Visitors Enzo Scalise was alert on a play coming in from the left, making the score a tie at 1 - 1 in the 19:th minute. In the games 22nd minute FoggiaCalcio´s Timo Salter fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Timo Salter for taking a dive. In the 25:th minute FoggiaCalcios Enzo Scalise received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Bennie Hidma the unlucky victim, couldn´t continue the game, so Thijs Bekkers had to come off the bench. 1 - 1 was the half-time score. FoggiaCalcio held the ball, with a clear 57 percent possession rate.

Blankestijns Fritz Oosterloo gave, after 52 minutes, the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right. FoggiaCalcio were close to putting the equaliser away in the 67:th minute as the opposing defence lost control of the ball in a scuffle in front of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the sideline. Blankestijn's Adri van Velzen scored 3 - 1 by shooting accurately and hard from a long distance, leaving the opponent goalie no other option than to pick up the ball from the net. In the 80:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Derek van Strien dashed through, knocking home 4 - 1 for Blankestijn. In the games 80:th minute FoggiaCalcio replied, reducing the lead to 4 - 2. Kenneth Nilsen scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Blankestijn lead up with 5 - 2. Victor Brouwer finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. The structure of the game started to change as Blankestijn decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The referee showed FoggiaCalcios Giovanni Tarantola the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Blankestijn held the ball, with a clear 53 percent possession rate.

Most important Blankestijn player was Adri van Velzen. Alessandro Di Stefano on the other hand, had a terrible day. FoggiaCalcio´s best player was Mohammed Buikstra. Matthew Spann on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 2.

Say VDV no need to select your best reserves for next wednesday. My midfield will contain of a mixture of strikers and central defenders which I really need in next Sunday match of season against the #2 in my league. If I win that game I'm in pole position to promote. But I probably screw up just like my beloved them did 5 May 2002 approx 16:00

I'll play 5-3-2, as I'm training defending, so my midfield will be weak, you might win :woot

yes, playmaking is deffo the best method, at least in the beginning, as the midfield kinda decides the strength of the team, but i have an excellent midfield now and I have a lot of young defenders now, so obviously I'm gonna train defending...

Well the last tournament cost me a fortune, hardly any visitors attended the matches. What I don't understand is that some clubs do get enough visitors in their stadium to equal the costs of 6000 euro. Is that because they play in a higher league?

well there are some factors... fanclub size, comparison of league level - ideally the guest team is some levels higher.

I know but how do you know if a trip to a foreign country is worth it? Most of my friendly matches are against a club of one division higher (6 out of 9) at their stadium (because it's biigger then mine). Usually 1000-2000 people show up which is more than ok to me. But two weeks ago I had to play against a Swedish team (6 out of 9) where almost 4000 people turn up, which resulted in a profit for my side of 6000 euro. I wonder if the amount of visitors increases if their club has to play a foreign club. Which would be odd since in reality for example it seems there are more tifosi for Serie A matches and for early CL matches.

I still play and my team has improved a lot.

Lucky you, my club still is not recovered from my Moratti spending in the first two weeks of this game. That expensive Italian striker isn't even top scorer for god sake. My passable strikers and even my central defender are scoring more goals than him. Oh well at least he ain't Macedonian. But there's improvement, I turned a desperate Lazio-syndrome into a bareable Roma-syndrome. If I'm lucky, which I doubt, I'll have no debt next season and can probably waste my money on another useless Italian striker.

it doesn't matter if your striker scores or not. scoring is very random. the only important thing is how much he contributes to your attack rating.
