Porto boss slams Bhoys

Porto boss Jose Mourinho has aimed a bitter swipe at Celtic saying that Martin O'Neill's men employ 'horrible' strong-arm tactics to try and win in Europe.
The Portuguese side defeated The Bhoys in last season's ill-tempered Uefa Cup final in Seville, with the Scottish side claiming Porto had been diving too much.
Porto are now in the last eight of the UEFA Champions League after defeating Manchester United, while Celtic are 1-0 up from the first leg of their Uefa Cup clash with Barcelona.
Mourinho saw the Barca match at Parkhead, and says that the hosts employed their usual strong-arm tactics to try and unsettle Barca.
He says that the Spanish side should win the tie as their better technical ability will eventually shine through.
"What I watched in Glasgow didn't shock me," said Mourinho.
"I remember their behaviour being similar in the tunnel and dressing room area at half-time in the UEFA Cup Final in Seville. It was not sporting.
"Celtic use an aggressive style of play in the hope their opponents will buckle.
"But football will always be the winner and we showed that in Seville.
"We kept the ball and Celtic just ran all over the pitch trying to get to us with their horrible and aggressive style.
"But it will be a different story in the Nou Camp in the next leg. Barcelona have style and they can win the tournament.
"All they have to do is keep their foot on the ball and not panic if they haven't scored in the first 10 minutes. "They are superior to Celtic and have more quality."
As many of you know, I hate Porto and this shite isn't helping me like them better. They are probably one of the teams in football I legitmately hate. This guy needs to shut his mouth, and focus on the shady play of his own team. He is just pissed that we played well, and won the game.

Strong arm tactics? :laugh
I'd rather that than the cheating, the rolling around, the time wasting, and the complete lack of sportsmanship shown by his team on a regular basis. He should shut his mouth. :Knob

Bobo Balde often makes those challenges, It's a wonder he didn't get Red carded in the game against Barca

I think you'll find he did not get a red card as the referee did not think he did anything to merit it, bit like me :USA_Blue

I suppose actual physical contact would be considered "strong arm tactics" by Mourinho. O Neill had this to say:
Mourinho's comments are just unbelievable. I just treat them with the response they deserve," said O'Neill.
"He's still to get over the embarrassment of Vitor Baia lying out on the turf for three or four days.
"The television pictures picked out Alex (Ferguson) once against Porto when the little Brazilian Carlos Alberto had fallen down for the fifth time in four minutes.
"I saw him looking across with one of those laughable looks that Alex gives you and somewhere along the way, if it is a continuation of things that happened last year, the coach has to take responsibility for people's behaviour."

i agree with Mourinho, Celtic play the dullest most physical and dangerous football in Europe. Mourinho's men may dive but its not like Celtic players have never dived and the conduct of the Celtic team is hardly the most sporting. The game of football at its best is an art but Celtic make it look like a battle leaving a trail of destruction and bored football fans.
remember diving doesn't injure opposition players but psychotic dangerous tackles do.

Not sure how many Celtic games you've been to, or seen, but it cannot be the same team I watch every week.

i have seen enough Celtic games this season and any other season to see how they play. Maybe through your green tinted specs the team plays the greatest football in the world with beautiful patient passing build ups and incredible levels of technical skill but through everyone elses eyes its just a hoof up the park a battle for the ball and let larsson do all the skillful footballing stuff.

Nope, still not the team I watch, I would think since your asking ;) that the Celtic I know would be somewhere between the two descriptions you gave. We are not the best footballing team in the world, what players would pick us over Real Madrid ?, nor are we worse in the world. You should be proud that a Scottish team is doing so well in Europe, I know I was when it was the dons

well its a start that you call yourself a Scottish team :woot
I think your a dull dull team to watch but hey i dont have to pay to watch it, i pay to watch even worse football
I like football played a certain way and i just cant enjoy the football Celtic play, last season I was glad Rangers won the title because i thought they played a lot of good football while this season i am glad Celtic are winning because even though they are playing football i hate at least they are in fact playing a decent level of football, Rangers have just been shocking.

I have been watching Celtic for many years and although I have seen better technical football being played at Celtic park, I can honestly say that the last few years have been the best that I can remember since being a young kid in the late 60's , early 70's. I have watched us beating some really good teams, admittedly maybe not always playing them off the park, but certainly not kicking them. Some real nice highspots too, away V Ajax, home V Juve, home v Valencia, away Blackburn to mention some.
I can assure you even at the risk of getting a severe doing :laugh I am really looking forward to the away game in Spain.
C'mon the tic :clap

I think the Porto boss bears some resentment towards us for some reason. Basically his comments are completely focusing on the negative.
Celtic are a big, strong team and we chase down, shoulder challenge and harass opposition players when they are on the ball - all of this is WITHIN the laws of the game. I think Bobo can be clumsy at times but there isn't a team in the world that doesn't commit fouls. I can't recall any challenges that have endangered opposition players.
As for when we are on the ball, it's fair to say there are players in our team who arent the most comfortable in possession - Neil Lennon - but anyone who watched us in any of our home games in the CL this season ought to know we can play football as well, we passed Lyon off the park. Also, if that isn't proving successful for us against a team we can revert to a more direct long ball game also. This gives us more options which equates to a greater chance of winning which is what counts in my book. We do what we have to do to win.
AC Milan and other Italian teams often play very defensively, it isn't nice to watch at times but people don't call them a bad team? The bottom line is Celtic have talent in their team no matter what Jose Mourinho says or would like to think.

How can people say we are not a footballing team?(JC the aethist i think it was) did you see Miller's(traitor) 23 pass goal? Best goal in the CL so far. A for the strong arm tactics... how could we use strong arms tactics on Porto, they were on the deck before we even got to them.
