Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane has added to speculation emanating from Germany regarding Johan Micoud's future, by suggesting that a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich should be encouraged.
Although Werder currently lead Die Bundesliga, Bayern remain Germany's most powerful club and a move to the Olympiastadion has reportedly been earmarked for the summer.
Zidane, an international team-mate of Micoud, believes that his playmaking understudy would be an ideal signing for Munich.
''Johan would be ideal for Bayern,'' Zidane told Sport Bild. ''I think it would be great if he signed for them.''
Micoud, a mercurial talent who is only now performing consistently at the peak of his powers, has earned a move to Europe's elite according to Zidane.
''Micoud sometimes needs a kick up the backside to make the most of the fantastic potential he has,'' revealed Zidane.
''If he had done that in the past he would have been playing for Bayern, or another big club for a long time now.''
The Bremen star has been dogged throughout his career by question marks over his attitude, but having proved his quality beyond doubt this term, Micoud could now be ready to move to one of Europe's biggest clubs.
wow. im really excited about Johan. Micoud could really help ballack in midfield and micoud plays in a deeper attacking role. if the signing goes through it would really be interesting how ballack and micoud play together
