First, let me say I'm new to this site. I'm one of the main guys at www.footballstart.com, a site dedicated to football gambling. Stop by if you have a chance for some solid capping, good stats and most importantly winners.
Ok, enough self promotion, here's something I'm playing for Wednesday.
A lot of rumblings from the romanian camp about the Steaua players refusing to honour the invitation from the national side. 4 players were involved, including their new aquisition Dorinel Munteanu. Radoi was also likely to play but he's hurt, so this is not a big deal, especially for this game. Three other inportant players missing, with Ajax goalie Lobont still injured. Chivu of Roma is also being overlooked for this game because of some nagging injuries while Sporting Lisbon striker Marius Niculae was not called up because he's just back from a long term injury and needs to reintegrate with his club.
On to who's there.
Goalkeepers: Bogdan Stelea (Salamanca), Emilian Dolha (Rapid Bucharest), George Curca (Farul Constanta)
Defenders: Dorin Mihut (Oradea), Adrian Iencsi (Rapid Bucharest), Cosmin Contra (Atletico Madrid), Cristian Chivu (AS Roma), Ionut Rada (Universitatea Craiova), Sorin Ghionea (Otelul Galati), Ionut Stancu (Universitatea Craiova), Razvan Rat (Shakhtar Donetsk), Flavius Stoican (Shakhtar Donetsk), Gabriel Tamas (Galatasaray)
Midfielders: Daniel Pancu (Besiktas), Mihaita Plesan (Universitatea Craiova), Ovidiu Petre (Galatasaray), Florin Soava (Rapid Bucharest), Mihai Tararache (Grasshoppers), Florentin Petre (Dinamo Bucharest), Florin Cernat (Dinamo Kiev), Andrei Cristea (FCM Bacau), Gigel Coman (National Bucharest)
Forwards: Daniel Nicolae (Rapid Bucharest), Adrian Mutu (Chelsea), Ciprian Marica (Dinamo Bucharest), Ionel Danciulescu (Dinamo Bucharest), Tiberiu Moldovan (Apulum Alba Iulia), Nicolae Mitea (Ajax Amsterdam), Ionel Ganea (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Florin Bratu (Galatasaray).
Romania will experiment some in this tournament, but the first game is the only one where their "stranieri" will play, so expect a strong effort against Georgia. With Mutu and Ganea up front and some good service from Pancu, Cernat and Mitea, I expect them to win this game easily against a tem in turmoil for Georgia.
Georgia is missing Kaladze and Arverladze. They also don't have a coach as their federation is negotiating with a russian coach and Alain Giresse.
With a makeshift defense for Romania, I would give the OVER 2.5 a look as well.
Prediction Romania 3 Georgia 1
Plays: Romania -0.5 -165 3 units
Romania/Georgia OVER 2.5 -119 1 unit
