I read today in the NEWSPAPER that Landon Donovan laughs at the thought of him playing with Club America From Mexico. But he said Money talks and that he would do it for the right amount of money. Im talking about the tournament that america qualified for.
i think donovan is good but ...i think he should not be so cocky about it! :nono

How much is a lot of money on Donovan's case?

Why would he go to Club America when he could go to Europe, become more popular, and be in the eye of the world more?
I know Club America is good, but he won't get any coverage at all, compared to what he would get in Europe. I can't see him making that move, unless he REALLY got paid.

Well America have the money, they are one of the top clubs in the world.. and i can see him making the move, he has not succeded in europe and the only interest he's gotten has been from where ? Portsmouth?? I'd much rather go to America for so many reasons..(and let's not forget they are playing Copa Libertadores)

He's still under contract at Bayer Leverkusen.

and?
And...what the **** do you think? If Donovan thinks he can just transfer himself wherever he wants, he should think again.

so is Bayer paying him or MLS? Does not sound like a smart way to go ahead with a player who rejected you and will not come back?
Pls be more polite Southern.;)

I don't know how much money is he expecting to get, but América has quite a big budget. However, it is unlikely that they will spend big money in a player who is totally unknown in Mexico.

or on someone who might be jeered. He should go to Europe, but then again, maybe he lacks motivation and is satisfied to play in the MLS.

It depends on the teams. America will probably outpay some MLS teams, if not most. You have teams in Brazil that will spend a bit more than MLS as well. Just depends which teams, but I believe MLS has low pay compared to others.. need to check with celtic rugby there.

Well adu is the highest paid in the MLS with 500,000 a season.. and i think avarage is anywhere from 125K(starting) to 375k or higher.. but not many get to 500k what adu is getting paid.. Most mexican clubs can outpay most MLS clubs.. Because of the fact that they pack the staduim week in and week out..(and there are big stadiums..) Also they are very tv friendly and the merchandise flies so mexican players get paid more.. not sure how much more though..and about Brazilian im not that sure..

Its not club budgets, its the league budget. Players in MLS are under contract with the league, rather than individual teams.

It is impossible to talk about fixed budgets for the Mexican teams.
Most of them are owned by big corporations which inject them with funds when they need it, so they have a budget that has no relationship with how much money they make.

I'm becoming more attracted to the the pace of Mexican and South American play. One of my all-time favorites, Eric Wynalda played for a Mexican team, so I watched some of the highlights. Not a bad league.
Landon Donovan, meh. He can do what he wants. If I were Leverkusen, I'd call him back to Germany to showcase him and get him off the payroll.

Umm, in all those cases the club they were transferring to actually began the transfer rumours, or responded to those rumours right away
In Donovan's case, he's started them himself and America has said nothing to date.

right now Donovan is "on loan" to MLS..
he was only getting paid 60-70k a year in Germany because he wasnt good enough for first team play. so MLS pays that amount, then gives him an extra 200-300k on top

Well, he's being recalled in 2005, and will most likely be sold.
