View Full Version : I'm starting to think Buffon is racist

...I still remember a few years ago, back in Parma..he wanted to have the number 88...when asked why,he said some crap..something like:when a man complete a part in life or something...anyway we all know what the number 88 means(88 in geometry=HH-Heil Hitle*)
and today in the match against Empoli he refused to wear the anti-racism t-shirt
Interista

Don't believe that Buffon is a racist. If someone refused an anti-racist shirt doesn't mean that he is racist. I don't believe that wearing shirt like this will ban racism, it probably will make it worse in the stadiums. Surely the guy who have linked the number 88 with heil hitler has too much free time on his hands. Buffon is a great goalie and I really resent the idea to degenerate someone like him on someones crazy suspicions without evidence.

Gianluigi Buffon:
Blamed at faking his diploma, when gratuating.
wore the number 88,and is considered to be a fascist after wearing a t-shirt of an italian party that says: ''death to the surrenders''
refused to go to the army and preffered taking social services in which he worked with narcomans
Jere Markus
Jan 27 2004, 12:36 PM
Here´s the lynch mob!!
Helping people with problems (junkies) is a racist thing? Isn´t it more racist to learn to kill other people? (I´ve been to the army myself for 1 year, it´s bs)
Wearing 88 says nothing. How about wearing 00 - means you support Chelsea who have won 0 since year 0?
Wearing a t-shirt? You are giving way too much weight on some t-shirts ("not wearing an anti-r t-shirt" = racist).
I can blame my colleague for faking his diploma.. does that mean he did it? Somebody can also say Chelsea.. err, I ment Barca, are winners - does that make them winners?
I´m falling into prejudice. Innocent until proven otherwise.

I never knew 88 referred to hitler, LINDROS ALERT!!!!,pls explain that one?
Anyways, I have to ask, when did he refuse to wear the shirt, before or after a game? If it was before, maybe he did not want it to affect his mentality, because us goal keepers are wierd in that we follow a routine and dont want to do something that affects it, especially like wear a shirt during a match as well.. However, if it was after a game, then that is a sad thing to do.
I think it's based on H being the 8th letter of the alphabet, so HH, as in Heil Hitler would be 88. In Britain there is a nazi group called Combat 18, and the 18, in alphabetical terms, stands for A.H. or Adolf Hitler. Bit sad, really.
As for Buffon, if he's not racist, there's no crime in being a bit right wing

at least Arsenal is in CL
every season.. this and next.. can you say the same about Barca?
and there is no reason to compare Arsenal to Chelsea/Barcelona who both use tons of money and still stay mediocore.. and change managers as often as J-Lo changes his man.. Their players are moneyhungry mercenaries who don´t care about the club, pride or footy - only about money.
Arsenal sticks to Wenger, wins games and doesn´t spend much (Reyes the exception; last two years we bought Cygan 2.5m and Lehmann 1.5m). Arsenal players are unselfish (Henry the assists king), loyal (Vieira) and respect their manager/club 100%

I think Jere hit a nerve :laugh
But he does have a point. Barcelona's biggest mistake was letting Ronaldo and Bobby Robson go and hire a man like van Gaal. He didn't respected the culture of Barca and bought several Dutch players for millions. I saw a similar thing with Inter a few years ago. At a moment there were only 2 Italian players in the first squad! That's not how it should be. Cuper (and Tardelli)finally made Inter an Italian club again. I don't think Rijkaard will do the same to Barcelona.

1/ we couldn't do anything about Ronaldo, he was talking to Inter around January team, you broke his release clause and bought him
2/ It wasn't such a mistake getting rid off Bobby Robson, he was 65, the biggest mistake was getting rid off Cruyff, after cruyff left he still left the cruyffism symbol in the hearts of all fans, that's why even after winning games 6-0 people weren't happy because the spectacle wasn't there and at the same time Ajax under van Gaal played some of the best football in europe (70% Posession , pinning opponents in their own half) but you're right he didn't respect tradition of Barça which got the fans on his back despite his record, 2 league titles in 3 years) Wenger has managed that much in treble the time but at Arsenal wenger has it easy, buying all the french players he can but fans don't care since a lack of tradition at arsenal, if Wenger came to Barça , he would end up as van Gaal, as far as tactical discipline goes, van Gaal was head and shoulders above Wenger although Wenger has better man management skills, although Cruyff is head and shoulders above both of them

Agree with Zeman...that isn't a really good argument Jere, compared to other ones i'm used to read from you in discussions.
Besides that i think it's simply ridiculous to call Buffon racist.
If he's Pro with Forza Italia or even worse Forza Nuova it's his opinion, would be sad from my point of view but it's noones business.
Unfortunatly there are lot's of people in Italy, as Zeman could tell you! Near Modena(as far as i know it's around that area) there's even a winery that sell their bottles with the emblem of "il duce" Mussolini and "Adolf H."

it´s only that there have been accusations (like this one on Buffon - are they all (accusations) "ridiculous" and "stupid"?) that there is RACISM in Italian leagues, players and also in Dutch league..
..somebody else than me made these claims, I´m just asking if they are true? Somebody has been talking about anti-semitism in relation to Ajax, am I right? Or about racist remarks by Lazio players?
And somebody told me that in Spain there was bananas flying onto the pitch few years ago when a black player was introduced.. am I making this all up?
..like people are making up things about Buffon?

I especially liked the film were he was a padre (Don Camillo or something) and always made fun of this communistic mayor. In that final football match Hill used one or two players of Inter if I remember correctly. Great film, haven't seen it for years. At least on the movei screen, the blue won from the red. :laugh

I haven't seen the original film ,and to be honest I never heard of Fernandel. As child I really liked Hill and Spencer's film but there was also this comical Frenchman with blond curly hair who I liked. Never could remember his name. He played frequently with Gerard Depardieu. One of his film was were he wore two different shoes and were he had all the bad luck in the world (perhaps he was a Nerazzurri). That Italian idiot Roberto Bernini or something who have won an oscar has copied a lot of his moves and jokes. Sorry it's really hard for a Dutch to remember all these difficult French and Italian names. It's already hard to spell my gf back name right

That's the one. Still remember that face of his. He could look so incredible dumb :laugh. Hill-Spencer and Richard-Depardeu really were two amazing couples in 70's and 80's with a lot of chemistry. Pity that both weren't so popular in Holland as they were in Germany. There were times that RTL Television had these four man almost every week on television, but somehow they have disappeared for average comics likes Chevy Chase and that irritating Ernest figure. Really Germans do not have humour (just hope my Opa is not reading this).
There are not much movies of Begnini who are on television. I once saw a movie were he was a Jewish waiter who together with his son was sent to a concentration camp by the Nazis. He really made a nice and sometimes funny movie of such an depressing subject. In the other film he really reminded me of Richard. He always walked on scaffold to walk to his room. Really a funny guy even though he was kinda disappointing in Asterix and Obelix, Missing Egypte (but Monica Belucci made up for it). See that's a name I can remember.

Sorry Oliver I simply can't remember all these difficult titles. Italian aswell as French are not so logical for a Dutchman as German. And tatort isn't anymore what is supposed to be after Tanner and Schimaski.

1) Buffon is not racist. He had chosen 88 as a number because in 88 there are 4 circles representing 4 balls. So it was his way of saying I can save 4 balls at the same time.
2) I didn't hear anything about such an incident. Where did you hear about this Zanetti? I saw the game and didn`t notice it...and players have to wear those shirts so they cannot refuse it.

Sorry but that's not right (not saying it does not happen). It comes down to what the person is like from the inside and not the outside. Color means nothing to me and neither race, religion or ethnicty. I am an arab and I am engaged to a Mexican woman and her family loves me because they got to meet me and see me and my family loved her just as much. Her mom is Part italian as well. I would not have a problem with my daughter marrying anyone based on their color, but based on how they treat her and if they can provide for her.
Wish people would open up theirs minds a bit. 2004 and we still behave like nothing has changed.
