German champions Bayern Munich are about to swoop for Santos midfielder Renato, according to Brazilian media reports.
The 24-year-old Brazilian international is set to move to the Olympic Stadium after the winter break according to Santos' director of football Francisco Lopes, who claimed that a deal was almost finalised.

No financial details of the move have been revealed.

Renato has scored 20 goals in 157 league appearances for Santos and is generally regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in Brazil.

hmm..why would bayern buy another defensive midfielder. We already have quality defensive midfielders with Hargreaves and Jeremies, we should sign an attacking midfielder...TEVEZ whats taking u so long

No, I really believe Renato would be an excellent signing.
Renato would be perfect for Bayern, he is exactly what Ballack wants. Jeremies is way past his best and Owen is just not the quality we need.
See what I wrote bout Renato few weeks ago:

Last year in March (before Bayern were linked to him) I said Makaay would be a perfect signing.. and indeed he was!

So in conclusion, Bayern are doing everything I say :P

Ross I hate foreigners as much as you, but have you seen Renato play? He's great, better than Emerson. Not Kehl or Ernst or Jeremies or Ramelow can match his class.

If we do get Renato ,then i think definitely one of jeremies or hargreaves will be leaving, jeremies contract expires this year so its even possible he might be sold in the winter.

I've never seen Renato ,but I know lately in the brazilian team Emerson was benched to make room for him.

I think enough said, we'll be getting a real quality player
