Well after recent display's clearly Rangers will have to work hard to beat anyone but I suspect the Greeks will come to Glasgow without much drive seeing as theyre out. This will hopefully play into our hands and allow us to score a couple of goals, resulting to qualify for the UEFA CUP

Potentially tough encounter and by no means certain we'll make the Uefa Cup

If Pana beat us they take the Uefa spot so its still all to play for

Sorry Rangers, but even you have to admit it, Scottish footy is not Euro class anymore. Who was the last team to win anything in Europe - Aberdeen wasn't it, with Fergie at the helm?

Correct although Dundee Utd got to the UEFA Cup final in 87 and Rangers were beaten to the European Cup Final place by Marseille in 93. Marseille were then stripped of the title after is was shown they fixed matches, IMO Rangers shouldve replayed the final vs. AC Milan that year but there you go.....

Celtic reached the UEFA Cup final last year as well so its not all bad but generally Scottish team perform badly. The main reason is the League is so poor teams cant raise their game for European matches. Look at the teams who do well, where do they come from? Spain, Italy, England - all countries were the domestic League is very strong.

Scottish Football is cr*p apart from Rangers & Celtic (and even they arent that good right now...).

Well, I'm a bit of a Pao fan. They've had a disapointing run. However, I'll say 3-2 for Pao in a heartbreaker.

Well I can't really go against a team I like. Its at Ibrox so its most likely going to be 2-0 to Rangers, especially since Pao has played like crap recently.

Talking of good Scottish performances since Aberdeen, weren't Dundee United robbed in the European Cup Semi Final against Roma in about 85, which denied them the chance to play Liverpool in the final?
As for tomorrow, I think it'll be close, we're still not playing too well and although they don't travel too well, I expect a nervy display with us just hanging on either 1-0 or 2-1.

I really hope the Gers do well. tough to be mad at them since this is not exactly the same team from the treble years. Heart Breaking and tough to accept but financial reasons are becoming a ***** everywhere and hopefully they will rebound soon. I still see them winning tomorrow though.

A bit out of taste but nevertheless I hope your team thinks of us as such cuz youll be sure to cop 4 -- regardless with all the injuries PAO have had and the moron for a coach they currently have I wouldnt be surprised with a 2-1 win for rangers

Don't think he meant any offense by it. I agree with you on the scoreline, but it will be an edgy game, luckily we don't need the win.

Justr read on Rangers.co.uk, that both Shota and Emerson are ruled out of tonights game. Arveladze hasn't recovered from his recent injury, while the Brazilian's dad has just passed away. With us threadbare as it is, this won't help.

oh man, down 3-1 and 10 minutes left, so no europe at all. Tough break and I really can't blame the team. This was not the same team that won the treble last season and too many transfers in offseason and injuries pretty much is where there are now. Hope they learned from the experience and do well. Unless they can 3 more goals and move on to UEFA. Good effort though/

Both I'd say, pretty much toothless up front, I was surprised with the quality of Panathanikos, deserved their victory.

Rangers must have played there worst game of the season considering Panathanikos' away record and their dodgy keeper. Anyway Rangers are out of Europe now and it looks like they are dead and buried in the league considering how Celtic are playing.

you never know, Last season Celtic was in UEFA CUP final and many believed that those additional games were the difference between them and Rangers winning the titles. Be careful for what you wish for, because playing in europe can sometimes bite you in the ass with injuries and fatigue.

You may not be too happy to see green in the margin at this point, but I'm just checking in to say I'm sorry 'Gers didn't win.

Greece is one of the associations ahead of us in the UEFA rankings, and a good showing tonight, plus a run in the UEFA cup would have been another big step toward 3 teams in the Champions' League for Scotland.

If we couldn't have an OF Derby in the semifinals of the CL, that would have been a consolation.

Awfully disappointing, I'm sorry.

first off PAO's keeper (Nikopolidis) is the best in Greece and is THE ONLY reason why Greece is even in Euro 2004, to say the guy is dodgy is one of the most misconstrued statements Ive ever heard...

The match:

The first half began with Rangers having a stranglehold on the game, for some reason we seemed content to defend even though we needed the victory, we could never keep possession because of Lucian Sanmartean, he was the supposed focal point on offense and lost the ball whenever it came to him... Rangers had a clinical goal through Mols, Lovenkrands was dominant in the half, yet somehow we managed to reply swiflt, German LB Markus Munch (who was magnificent today) had a beautiful run and set up Zutautas for an easy finish. We played the rest of the half as we had played before our goal.

As the second half started Sanmartean rightfully came off and gave way for Joelle Epalle... this guy is singlehandedly responsible for the turnaround. Rangers midfield and defense couldnt handle his speed, this forced Rangers to concentrate on him and freed up the rest of our attackers (Konstantinou, Sapanis, Basinas), Epalle went to work immediately as his great work found Sapanis with space in the box, only to see him attempt a poor shot from close range which Klos managed to block, a few minutes later Konstantinou was the beneficiary of a great Epalle run only to see his shot cannon off the post. Later Basinas, also the beneficiary of Epalles effort, let loose a screamer from 30 meters that Klos was powerless to stop. Rangers made some changes, attackers for midfielders and defenders, and PAO with the lead eased up on the accelerator content to work by attacking on the counter. Rangers had some nice possession but couldnt put anything threatening together, mostly crosses that Nikopolidis easily dealt with. In the 79th minute Sapanis picked up a knock and gave way to striker Vlaovic. Konstantinou now with a partner to take the marking pressure off of him capitalized a minute later with a counter attack, again Epalle the creator, that saw him calmy slot the ball from close range past Klos. The next 10 minutes saw Rangers push forward but again they were unable to break through PAO's defense.

very dissappointing for rangers but panathainaikos are no pushovers

this will have big big consequences on rangers as a buisness as they have now lost out on a lot of european revenue

very dissappointing

Sorry to say This, But I can say the Only thing rangers players are after is that pay slip at the end of the week, I see no heart & soul in any of there games except the SPL ones, and Currently being good in the SPL isn't good enough when you have competitions like the UEFA cup Etc

no effort? then maybe time to hold coach accountable for not getting them ready to play or picking players who actually want to play for a reason.

They've had a lot of injuries of late, and Man U is one of the best clubs in the world, so you had to know it could be a slaughter. Now Pao have some players back, and they are back in the mix.

Hmmm.. I seem to remember him making a has of a weak Forlan shot two weeks ago and in the first match at Old Trafford I could have saved Solskjaers shot.

For one of the few times in my life I was ashamed to be a Rangers fan last night and even walked out with more than 10 minutes left. They were ok in the first half and deservedly went ahead (why can we not hang on to a lead anymore in Europe?), but in the second half they (I can't even call them us or we after that display) were woeful, gutless and a disgrace to the shirt.
This result has been coming for a while now, but I for one had convinced myself it was just a bad spell and we'd turn it around. Well we haven't and the rest of the season is going to be more of the same.
Yes we've got injuries and it's not the same team as last year, but Panathinaikos at home? 3-1? Pathetic.

That was the single worst performance Ive ever seen from Rangers (and possibly by any team ever). For the first time ever I actually considered leaving Ibrox before the final whistle I was so fed up :banghead

Very very poor show that displayed all the teams problems clearly. Theres much work to be done and few tools with which to do it.

We had to draw or win at home vs. a ver average team to go through and we couldnt do it. Not only that but we made them look like Real Madrid in the process.

A shocking and unacceptable display :censored
