I heard that there was a lot of trouble at the game between Chesterfield and Cardiff City.
I also heard that there was trouble in Mansfield with the Cardiff fans the night before the game..any of my Stags m8's know anything about it?
I called a few of my friends back in England and they said it was near enough a riot.....lots of Cardiff and Chesterfield muppets going at it...plus there were some Forest and Leeds fans mixed up with it too.
Any info would be appreciated.

Seriously though, i did hear of Forest and Leeds fans in there too.

If you go to rivals.net, and go to the chesterfield site, on the message board a cardiff fan who was there has posted the happenings.

Thanks for the info snake.
Ive read the posting and I think it had quite a few grains of truth from what I have heard. Although 15 guys running 100...now thats total B.S...I used to live there...if there was nobody to fight with they would fight between themeslves...so Jackanory time.
Your club have got a rep m8...so thats why the muppets turned out. I feel sorry for the true Cardiff fans who travel week in week out and get tarred with the same brush.
Mind you...a mate of mine who is very disabled was at the game and after it he was spat upon and called a fucking English cripple by a load of your so called fans.....so go figure why Cardiff are reviled throughout the leagues.

We do have a bad reputation, but not all of it is deserved.

take the Leeds incident, there was no fighting at all, but because O'Leary is such a bad loser, he had to air his thoughts live on sky sports. He should have had the sense to leave it well alone. Afterall, would he take it if I went on live TV and slated his decisions/tactics etc??? No, he wouldn't. He'd tell me where to get off, and to stop commenting on things i knew nothing about. Sound advice.

Most of the trouble that surrounds CCFC, come from the reputation the club had in the 70's and early 80's. Every club we travel to, has a section of fans that want to challenge anyone in a cardiff shirt, just because of how bad we were in the past. And Cardiff fans have never been ones to back down, hence all the bother. It must be the deep seated hatred that our country has for anything English that propels it along.

But i in no way condone the violence. But does get my pecker up, is when fans from clubs like bristol city, stoke city, leeds utd to name but three, point the finger at us and call us animals, when they have been far worse than us in the past. They've just been lucky that their misdemeanours haven't been caught on camera.

The local 'rugby loving' press never pass up on an opportunity to slate soccer in wales, especially if it makes their poorly supported sh!te look better.

Thats my rant for what its worth!!

Very interesting comments snake. I agree sometimes its like the pot calling the kettle black concerning footie violence.
Once you have a rep though it is near enough impossible to get rid of unless affirmative action is made by the club.A lifetime ban on the thugs is one way and stiffer fines/imprisonment is another.Sometimes though the club doesnt seem to be bothered....it will tut-tut but do bugger all.
That goes the same with my own club who especially at away matches have been infiltrated by right wingers who have been singing sectarian , anti-pope/catholic songs. I view this the same as racial abuse being that it has no place in anywhere nevermind in soccer. The club did little or nothing from what I have heard.
The comment I dont agree with is 'the deep seated hatred of anything English".My uncle lived in Carmarthen for many many years and never ever had any problems...nor did I or any of my family who visited. We found the Welsh hospitable and friendly.
Anyway snake good luck to your club and the true Cardiff fans....but a plague of pox on the thugs. Cya

DO'L critisism was at the fans who constantly threw things at the Leeds players during the game, not at the fighting.

Two players were hit by bottles, and numerous were hit by coins.

its not cardiff though its a welsh thing they hate
english thats all.
i say let them have there country see how long
they last and let them play football in the welsh league see how long it takes them to realise
how lucky they are to have us keeping them

I'm not disputing the fact that cardiff fans threw coins and bottles, but Leeds fans were at it too. I have that game on video, and i will gladly send anyone a copy, for them to see that.

But for O'Leary to throw his penny's worth in and stoke up the high emotions of that day was something else. He, a premiership manager, should know better than to open his mouth before engaging his brain. His comments after the game were what i would expect from a conference manager. sad but true.

I for one, happen to think that the police handled the game well. It could have been better, but overall, their actions should be praised. Over the last three years, there have been games where the trouble has been riots in the city centre. But because one of this country's elite sides is involved, everyone wants to slap cardiff down. There is definately an air of superiority from Premiership teams. They don't care about the lower division teams, except when they suffer at the hands of one.

Its a real shame that one of the best results ever by a lower league team, was overshadowed by over-exhuberance on the fans part, and the B/S that was put in the national press.

But ask any Leeds fan who was there that day, and they will tell you. Coin/bottle throwing aside, the atmosphere was electric. And if they tell the truth, they wish they had support like cardiff, instead of the dead, voiceless crowds at Elland road. (Ive been there this season, I know).
