;) Most games are pretty straigh-forward in terms of results expected.

Id say:

ASTON VILLA
CHELSEA
MAN CITY
SOTON
LIVERPOOL
MAN UTD
ARSENAL
EVERTON

all going through which means itll probably be the most quality filled League Cup in ages in the Q/F and onwards.

Amazing what can happen with a simple name change ;)

I think West Brom will knock out Man Utd, i can see them putting too many reserves out (again) and West Brom need more respect than that.

Maybe they are up to the task, im just of the opinion that if Man Utd want to take this competition seriously and win it they need to start putting out teams that are nearer to a first team 11.

ASTON VILLA V PALACE.
READING V CHELSEA.
SPURS V MAN CITY.
SOTON V POMPEY.
LIVERPOOL V BOLTON.
WEST BROM V MAN UTD.
ARSENAL V WOLVES.
BORO V EVERTON

West Brom v United is a potential bananaskin. West Brom are a good team, really, and could possibly cause an upset. It all depends on how United approach the game. If United play to their best, with whoever Fergie selects, then I expect United to edge through, but it could be very close.

I expect City to overcome Spurs, but only as Spurs are so BAD!

Villa could be another possible upset.

Chelski should have an easy ride v Reading

Southampton and Portsmouth, mouth watering derby game. I can not predict this one at all.

Liverpool should overcome Bolton easily enough, but then again, Newcastle should have overcome WBA ;)

Arsenal v Wolves - easy ride for Arsenal, depending on whether or not Wenger decides to go for it.

Boro v Everton. Unpredictable.

No shock if WBA win - if reserves out on field. If your lot cannot beat Spurs you don't deserve to be in the Premiership ;)

I know that Crystal Palace are going through a bad patch, but the Cup (particularly the various guises) of the League Cup has provided solace for Crystal Palace in the past.

I can see Villa (who continue to struggle to score) possibly slipping up at Villa Park against a Palace team who must surely be up for it!

I agree,we're s*** at the moment, but there's a month till the Villa game and now Kember has gone It will hopefully give the squad a lift and by then we might have got a couple of decent results under our belt.................and besides Villa are hardly the most fearsome team In the premiership!!

Trouble Is I've got a feeling we need more than just a change of manager, some of the players are just not up to the job,but that's another thread!!! ;)

Oh come on Monkey - you have had more managers in the past 17 years than I could possibly count with a scientific calculator. Why 17 years, thats how long we have had Fergie now.

yeah and I was at old trafford In the late 80's to see palace win 2-1 and the natives were well restless, the whole of the second half the crowd kept chanting 'Fergie out'!!!!

a couple of more dodgy results and the history books would have looked a bit different that's for sure!!! ;)

Ah yes! Your going back to when Palace had a footy team ;)

The turning point for Fergie was the win v Forest (Mark Robins) which took us on to Wembley where we finally (pun intended!) beat Palace, in a replay, 1-0 and that was the start of the Palace Plummet!

I think West Brom will knock out Man Utd, i can see them putting too many reserves out (again) and West Brom need more respect than that.

I would tend to agree. Judging now by Fergies announcement of playing youth, Baggies must think theat they have a great chance.

Ferguson will continue to utilise his youth policy in the Carling Cup when West Brom provide the opposition in the live Sky fixture on Wednesday evening.

Chris Eagles could be handed a starting role after impressing in the previous round against Leeds United, and Phil Bardsley, son of former Watford defender David, is in line for his first team debut.

"It will be similar to the Leeds United game," Ferguson told United's official website. "All the players who haven't been playing will play.

"(Nicky) Butt, (Eric) Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson, (Darren) Fletcher, (David) Bellion and young players like (Kieran) Richardson and Eagles will be involved.

"I just have to look at the defensive side.

"The reserves have been playing very well recently. Danny Pugh has been doing well and so has young Bardsley. These young lads will get their chance.

"First of all, I want to make sure we have got enough strength going into a game like this.

"Chris Eagles made his debut at Leeds and did exceptionally well. Young Kieran Richardson, Darren Fletcher, David Bellion are all yong players.

"We're very enthusiastic about their chances.

"It's the kind of game you would want them to go into. I think it could be a smashing night for them."
