The dodgy cards which are flying about. Out of 1.2 million users i erckon about 1 million have got the dodgy card. The reason they cant switch off the cards is coz ITV opted at the outset for the cheapest set top technology with security features which are fundementally flawed. They should have known it was flawed as the phone companies had the same problems with the cloning of mobile phones which used the same technology. ITV digitals management are to blame, for a lack of forward thinking. No one is goin to subscribe to their channels when u can get then for nothing are they?

You might actually have a point there Magic H. But as we all know, most of these cards are in Liverpool!!!

well lets put it like this, granada and carlton own itv digital, they can still be sued. itv digital was a different compnay per se, but that was to cover the broadcasters backs if it did go under

ah yes thats true. So if you got ITV Digital what happens? Do you just not get all the channels, any money back???

Probably find that you have simply "dipped out" if there is no money - hence the closure - then how are the punters going to get their money back? What I would suggest is those who have Digital; get them Direct Debits stopped - its money after bad........ Sky TV will be laughing!!

I hope not! I flatly refuse to watch pay for view - as the CL undoubtedly will be.............

There is no one reason why ITV digital collapsed, but the main reason is they paid too much for Nationwide football, their encryption software was broken all too easily, and people were never prepared to pay to watch Nationwide football, even pubs stopped paying because they were charging too much. Murdoch must laughing his socks off, but if he was in the same position as ITV digital he would be even more ruthless in ditching the contract.

Obviously the dodgy cards deny them revenue but the other reason for their failure is that the product they sell isnt something that is saleable nationally.

Premier league games (on sky) are watched with interest by fans of most premier clubs cos 1) the players are more skillful and 2) the result usually affects their team in some way.

Nationwide (ITV digi) isnt watched because games like Birmingham vs. Nottingham Forest just dont interest the majority of viewers. As regards the CL, there's so much football on tv that listening to a game on radio is like a breath of fresh air. Also, forgive me, but as more than ¾ of the teams in the Premier Leage dont play in CL the fans of these clubs are not interested in paying to watch these games.

itv is now the old home of football, granada is their parent company isnt it? They should be forced to pay the 300 million they owe
