View Full Version : Olimpija star and manager rubbish Reds
Liverpool's players have been accused of lacking heart in an amazing outburst by Olimpija Ljubljana striker Mladen Rudonja just days before the two teams meet at Anfield.
The Reds drew 1-1 in Slovenia last month and qualification for the 2nd round of the UEFA Cup will be decided on Wednesday but in an astonishing interview, Rudonja has rubbished the Premiership team.
"Their big players may have lots of money - but that means nothing on the pitch," claimed Rudonja. "You need to have heart and they haven't got it like we have. We're not bothered by them. Every footballer has two legs just like me so why should I say they are better players. If they think they are, they are free to prove it on the pitch."
Rudonja wasn't the only one to have a pop at Liverpool though. The Slovenian team's manager, Suad Besirovic, also had something to say. "If we played Liverpool every week, we'd be top of our league by 20 points," he insisted. "We're going to England with the intention of winning and going into the next round. After seeing Liverpool in action, I know we are capable of that."

This actually brings some meaning to the game now. Hope every Liverpool player takes that remark about proving they are better seriously, and we absolutely batter them.

I´m slovenian, i red this interwiev some time ago, but i didnt care to translate it in english...
On Olimpija- Liverpool, Liverpool did not show mouch, Olimpija played very good match-considering you damaged couple of their players...
After the Olimpija-L´pool match everyone were telling Olimpija can hope for better times(last year they were dreaming of Champions League?? :laugh)...
Olimpija played last matches horrible even lost to city rival Domzale 2-1. Team is in the mess, only a good resoult can keep Besirovic up.. If they loose, he can say goodbye to his job...
Does Liverpool has any injuries, will Owen recover or Houlier may rest him and hope Heskey(:laugh, even Bobic is better) score???
Rudonja is not that good of a football players, since he scored for national team(2nd position in qualifying group, extra wualifications with Croatia) from cca. 65 caps only once(1x)... But he is a fighter and runner...
Mybe just 4-0... :aplaude
Anyway also Maribor was held to a draw 1-1 with Ajax, later ajax smashed them 9-1 on away match in Amsterdam...

Rudonja denies saying anything about that, but i strongly remember he said that on the match Olimpija- L´pool the team with more heart won, considering it was 1-1, he has a point...
