Scotland coach Berti Vogts on Thursday named the following squad for the Euro 2004 Group Five qualifier against Lithuania at Hampden Park on October 11:-
Goalkeepers: Neil Alexander (Cardiff), Robert Douglas (Celtic), Derek Stillie (Dunfermline Athletic)
Defenders: Graham Alexander (Preston), Steven Caldwell (Newcastle United), Christian Dailly (West Ham), Steven Pressley (Hearts), Andy Webster (Hearts), Lee Wilkie (Dundee)
Midfielders: Colin Cameron (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Paul Devlin (Watford), Barry Ferguson (Blackburn Rovers), Darren Fletcher (Manchester United), Kevin Harper (Portsmouth), Jackie McNamara (Celtic), Gary Naysmith (Everton), Gavin Rae (Dundee)
Forwards: Steve Crawford (Dunfermline Athletic), Paul Dickov (Leicester City), Neil McCann (Southampton), James McFadden (Everton), Kenny Miller (Wolverhampton Wanderers).
Nice to see Kenny Miller & Darren Fletcher back in there :clap

I'm actually quite happy with that squad.
I agree good to see Kenny Miller in there, hopefully he can get a goal.

IMO these duds should be nowhere near a Scotland squad:-
Christian Dailly (West Ham)
Lee Wilkie (Dundee)
Kevin Harper (Portsmouth)
Jackie McNamara (Celtic)

Delighted to see Darren Fletcher in the Scotland squad, i've raved about him as a footballer, since seeing him play for Scotland Schoolboys when he was 15 in the Adidas Victory Shield.
I see Wilkie has been called up again, why? I mean, he has talent but i think Lee Mair is a more complete player at this time, he's Dundee's best defender currently.
Agree about Christian Dailly, he's useless. He should stick to his rock band :banghead

Id kick him out because hes cr*p but also his "cheats" outburst on TV shamed himself, the manager, the team and the country.
He should never play again :nono

I disagree about McNamara (of course)
I think he's shown his value and versitility for Celtic, slotting in where needed and performing well.

Yawn of course you would think that about McNamara, but some of the people think the sun shines out of the arse of anything to do with Celtic on this board going on the recent postings.
I think Wilkie is a good enough member of the squad, he is fairly solid although is nowhere near the complete defensive rock but let's be honest no Scottish defender qualifys for that crown at the moment.

Vogts considers call-ups
BBC
Don Hutchison and Kevin Kyle could be in line for a recall to the Scotland squad for the Euro 2004 qualifier against Lithuania after the withdrawal of Paul Dickov was confirmed on Monday.
Paul Devlin will report to the Scotland camp on Monday but seems certain to also be withdrawn, having missed Watford's victory over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday with a hamstring injury.
Neil McCann is also a doubt and his journey north has been delayed while he undergoes treatment with his club after suffering an ankle injury during Southampton's defeat by Newcastle United.
That triple blow to Scotland's forward options has led national boss Berti Vogts to consider calling up the likes of Kyle and Hutchison.
Kyle, who has recently been relegated to the Under-21s, scored for Sunderland and Hutchison, originally left out due to a lack of match fitness, for West Ham United at the weekend.
Dickov, who suffered a knock after coming on as a substitute for Leicester City at the weekend, and Devlin had been on the bench for Scotland's last outing, a 2-1 defeat by Germany.
The loss of McCann would be a greater blow as he has scored in Scotland's last two qualifiers, adding the goal in Dortmund to the opener in the 3-1 victory over the Faroe Islands.
McCann underwent tests to his injured ankle on Sunday and Vogts is hopeful that further treatment will allow the 26-year-old to join the Scotland squad on Tuesday.
The former Hearts and Rangers winger lasted only 20 minutes for his club at St James' Park after landing awkwardly as he challenged for a high ball on the edge of the area.
And Saints manager Gordon Strachan said: "He is feeling very sore at the moment. His ankle is badly swollen."
The Southampton website added: "Initial indications are that it is not too serious and he may have a chance of playing in the Uefa Cup tie in Steaua Bucharest, if not on Saturday."
There was some better news for Scotland players at the weekend, with midfielder Colin Cameron's goal giving Wolverhampton Wanderers their first Premiership victory.
Darren Fletcher performed well in the Manchester United midfield, James McFadden made another start for Everton, although he was substituted during the second half, while Steve Pressley scored for Hearts.
Scotland must win their match at Hampden Park against Lithuania on Saturday and hope that Iceland fail to beat Germany in order to qualify for a play-off place.
Vogts' squad is set to meet for a training session at Dumbarton's Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Well luckily Dailly is out of the squad, unfortunately so are half of the others only 11 players trained yesterday.
I agree with Ross (obviously) about Wilkie he's just not good enough, but not (surprisingly) about McNamara, he actually did a good job on Saturday especially when he and Agathe paired up on Lovenkrands. We also lack a bit of experience which he can give.
Great to see Kenny Miller back with him and McFadden upfront we should be able to get the goals we need to win. I'm predicting 2-1 maybe even 3-1.

I cant say Ive ever seen him play brilliantly for either Celtic or Scotland.
Hes one of the many Scotland players (e.g. Darren Jackson, Tom Boyd etc) who get capped despite being incredibley average, at best.
If McNamara played for Dundee Utd or Kilmarnock he wouldnt get a look in.
