When is the lad going to be fit to play? We have Dyer back and tht will provide some impetus from midfield but Bellamy's pace is a release for the whole team. If we are to challenge for European places we need him back as quickly as possible.

Well he can run on it and all that it's just that surgon bloke says he can't play yet and the club do everything that bloke says as he is the best sports surgon for leg injuries in the world.

I reckon in the summer, we should get Emile Mpenza in, as he was a target at one stage, but we got Cort instead. He's as pacey as fuck, and would be an ideal cover for Bella, and a similar player.... We need 4 top class forwards, 2 like SHearer and 2 like Bella, so Shearer & Cort, and Bellamy & Mpenza. Suits me, sir....

I'd take Del Piero over Mpenza, Mpenza is crap now. All we have to do is hypnotise Del Piero, say that Juve have bought a whole new squad, and that Serie A is changing its name to Premiership, and we should get him :razz
He'll never know with the shirt :)

We all keep having discussions on who we should buy in the summer ?I think it's plain to see we must start at the bottom ie:our defence and once thats put right we should be on the right track, as time and time again we are found to be very vulnerable at the back as we have seen of late?Top class teams will always exploit our defence and thats before we've got into Europe!!!! :no

Yeah, I think Bellamy is two weeks away. Lets just get behind Cort and help get the lads confidence back.
Also, I agree that defence should be our no1 priority.

Isn't a bit harsh of us to destory someones career by signing them as a Newcastle defender :) Seriously though have we ever had a good defence ? If we have I wasn't alive.

Perhaps we could get Fabio Cannavaro from Parma, as he is a classy defender, and Parma won't be in European competition next year. I think we could get him for about £7million. Any other ideas, I don't thnk youngsters are the solution, we need a big commanding experianced centre back, to lead our defense, perhaps Iuliano from Juve, or Hierro form Real....

Ah, well you changed the question there. We have had good defenders, just never a good defence. Its also to do with how they play, the system, how they are told to react to situations etc. We`ve had good defenders but they`ve been in poor defensive set ups? if you know what i mean?
My Examples would be:
Phillipe Albert
Stuart Pierce
Marc Hottiger
Darren Peacock (he came good - honest!!)
Alain Goma (I liked him!!!)
Didier Domi
All of these I would say were good, not brilliant, but good. However, I think we need someone like Rio, Hyypia, Adams? Someone experienced with presence.

I think Albert and Domi were good players, but not good defenders. Pearce had seen better days, Goma and Hottiger were nothing special and Peacock was an archetypal Newcastle defender really wasnt he!

Hmm, sorry, aye, I think I am thinking more, who were good playing in defensive positions rather than who were good at defending?
