Martinez for me - Wigan not only do not have the transfer budget of some teams in the league but they're missing the home atmosphere that lots of teams build off to pick up points. He's working miracles.

As they were when they played for newcastle, Carroll, Barton, Nolan & Enrique were 4 of their top players.
They've sold/released them all, and have pushed on ridiculous amounts.
Their midfield is solid, and their attacking trio is v.dangerous, although Arfa seems a bit hit & miss- Cisse and Ba are dangerous.
I'm not sure of the spending figures, but i'm pretty sure he's done it on a relative shoestring, so for that reason- Pardew hands down.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Said it a few seasons ago, he'll manage Barcelona or Real Madrid one day.

Dalglish for the lulz? might win 2 out of 3 trophies we were involved in ffs. Would be a brilliant season for most clubs.
Pardew.

Martinez would be a great choice for a club like Everton. Very good manager IMO

Most clubs don't spend over £100m and aim for CL football though. JS.
Was between Fergie and Pards for me. Pards edged it, just.

I dunno Stan. Yes it's silverware but all clubs play for these days is money, money, money.
That's why you see not only MU, Chelsea etc. fielding weakened sides in the Carling Cup but also your Blackburns because they'd rather focus solely on the league and staying up cos of the long term financial gain.
Id love to see my club go for cups, I'm sure you and any fan would but it's a sad reality Stan of 21st century football.

Big fan of Martinez, seems a sound guy as well. But for this season it's Pardew for me. Everyone raised their eyebrows when he let Barton go on a free and then sold Nolan on the cheap, but he clearly knew what he was doing.
Lambert a close second. Back to back promotions then challenging for a top ten finish, just a few points behind Liverpool, quite remarkable.

It's just my opinion. I'm sure most Liverpool fans would trade the carling and FA cup (if they win it) for 4th.
I probably wouldn't have said that 5 years ago though

I personally would swap.
And i'm pretty sure you'd get the majority of utd/chelsea/city and maybe arsenal to a lesser extent saying something similar.
The CL is not only the pinnacle of club football, but itf said, its all about the £ nowadays.

Well i think that's kind of sad, but then again i also can't take a manager who spends close to 100m and displays relegation form post January seriously.
The poll isn't clear is it best manager in league? I think so, hence the Dalglish lulz reference. It's clearly one of Pardew, Lambert, Rodgers imo. Probs Pardew, i remember it was quite the storm when Mike Ashley got rid of Houghton for him, you have to say fair play and looks like he got it right.
I don't think Fergie has been too impressive this season myself, it was a better managerial performance last season imo. As for the potential accumulation of a record points total, it can only be because we've been out of all cup competitions pretty early this season which is usually not the norm, actually this is the first time in 10 seasons or something we aren't playing in a cup final, which is pretty phenomenal if you think about it.:ninja

Premiership manager of the year, not overall.
33pts behind the leaders after spending the money you have is shocking.

That'd be utter bollox if that happened wouldn't it. The fans wanted him out, he stayed and has now lost his last 5 in a row dragging them deep into it again with them very fans saying they were right all along.

Just to say i've forgotten Martinez as well, yeh doing an outstanding job with Wigan, season in season out, not much to choose between him, Lambert and Rodgers, but i'd still have Pardew over all 3 this season.

He's one of the quiet men in football operating in the background then really kicking in at the end of the season.
It does p!ss me off how he keeps them up, I'd love nothing more than Wigan to come down because they're such a poor team. Absolute credit to him.

Cup wins stay with you for a lifetime. A top 4 finish does not.
I know its all about money, and yes CL is very important. And its a lovely cup to be in. But I think Liverpool will benifit with one year playing the Europa.

I will admit my scepticism at Pardew's appointment over a fan favorite in Chris, It was also a tough stage as we were selling off our "best" players and signing low cost players or nothing at all. Roll the clock forward and for the first time in around 10 years we have something to call a team again, like Sir Bobby did with the team in the early 2000's, no stallar names but a group of players that give extra for each other.
I have seen some star names linked with the club, but I kind of have the sense of panic about such, the last time we signed a bunch of star names we found ourselves in trouble financially and with performances. If I could duplicate what we have now, I will be a very happy man.
On that account for exceeding our wildest dreams it has to be Alan Pardew, maybe it is the right club and settings for him to work, and hopefully we are all proven wrong about Mike Ashley and his financial limitations and ideas of self sustaining a football club, if it works it can only be a better thing than the years of reckless spending. On a side note the Sports Direct Arena thing still hurts, but that will be forgotten if the team can play season after season in the top half.

Voted Pardew, he has made Newcastle able to contend and play positive football through the season.
Should Wigan or Blackburn be able to survive that is worthy of recognition but maybe not manager of the year.
Ferguson, should he win again would be the closest contender to Pardew imo.

But you wasn't aiming for it and with the money you've spent being content with a year in the Europa isn't enough.
As I said before, as Liverpool football club you shouldn't be happy with mediocracy.
The cup wins may stay with you for a lifetime but to the clubs it's only about money and the here and now, which we both agree on.

Surprised Moyes' name hasn't been mentioned, TBH. For all that Martinez is receiving plaudits, it took him nearly 3/4 of a season to figure out what system would work best with the players he had. I like Martinez but that's pretty :facepalm ...
Meanwhile, Moyes has been working with pennies and got his team 2 points ahead of the city rivals (who spent tens of millions), just outside the top 6, into an FA Cup semi, playing some decent stuff.
Pardew ... overall, I'm not convinced. They're in a good moment, for sure, but let's see if he's in the same position this time next year. That said, the award is handed out based off this year and this year alone, so he'll probably win if they make the CL.
I'd vote for Moyes.

Too add to this, a managers success isn't measured just by how well his team performs over the season but also how he represents the club in other football matters.
Even if we did count overall Dalglish should be nowhere near this award. He handled the Suarez-Evra situation very poorly and tarnished the name of LFC during the saga and has been a constant farce in most of his dealings with the press in general. For similar reasons I wouldn't consider Mancini as a manager of the year even if City did win it because he's been poor in handling players like Tevez and Balotelli.
