Lots of info Ceres. Good though.

It isn`t that bad with the attendance as I thought it was. 2 weeks ago I saw some danish paper (Urban it was I think) and was surprised that the att was so low (excl. FCK and Brondby games). It was 3 - 4 K no more. But now I see it is around 6K. Pretty well.
Still better than Polish average :(

Can someone post a list of the managers of the Danish teams, I heard Michael Laudrup & John Jensen were a team at 1 club...

Also who are the star players in the League to watch out for?

pyrtas
Sep 3 2003, 10:31 AM
Actually - how is Mazurkiewicz doing? I remember that when he went to Denmark he scored a couple of goals straight away but now there is no news on him in Poish papers.

Managers.

Maybe Manager is too strong a word ...but yes....Michael Laudrup is the "manager"/ head coach in the "coach-duo" Laudrup/John Jensen in Brøndby...The only foregin Manager/coach in the Danish leage is Hans Backe (SWE) FC København, former "stand in" Swedish National Coach 1990, at the moment he is allso the only coach with any experience from a League outside Scandinavia (2000-2001 Austria Wien).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tomek Mazurkiewicz ? + Star Players ?

Who are the Star players in the Danish League ??..well...Beckham and Zidane ofcause !...oops...I ment Tommy Bechmann and Mohamed Zidan...

The future super stars ?....well...I have no doubts !

Defender/ Midtfielder :

Leon Andreasen,21 yo (DEN-U/21,AGF, 6 caps, 1 goal) 8 goals in 32 matches for AGF last season. AGF's best player last year! ..now the club captain!...

Midtfielders :

Jan Kristiansen,22 yo (DEN 1 cap) 18 goals in 33 matches last season for Esbjerg. 2 goals in his first 5 matches this season. Wont be playing in the Danish League for longe I guess!...

Forwards:

Tommy Bechmann (DEN-U/21, 12 caps, 9 goals) 13 goals in 33 matches last season for Esbjerg... 6 goals in 6 matches so far this season.

Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen 18yo (DEN-U/19, 8 caps, 2 goals + lots and lots of goals for DEN-U/17) 5 goals last season for AGF. 1 goal in the 6 matches this season. Nicknamed due to his similarities with Everton hitman Duncan Ferguson.

http://www.uefa.com/competitions/Under17/f.../Report=RP.html (http://www.uefa.com/competitions/Under17/fixturesresults/round=1500/match=69222/Report=RP.html)

Mohamed Zidan (Egypt-U/21, and the Olympic-team star player) 11 goals in 29 matches last season for AB... 3 goals in 6 matches so far this season for FC Midtjylland.
Mohamed Zidan got the award of best technical Player of the 2002/2003 Season in Denmark. No doubt this player possesses the best "Technique" in the Danish League last season...and he has shown some world class Technique and dribbling skills in the first 6 matches this season too.

The Egypt Mohamed Zidan-page :
http://www.egyptianplayers.com/Zidan/Moham...dZidan-page.htm (http://www.egyptianplayers.com/Zidan/MohamedZidan-page.htm)

------------------------------------------------------------------

If I should point out some other young Star-players in the League :

Goalkeepers :

Stephan Andersen (DEN-U/21 player, 17.caps) 30 matches in the Danish League last season for AB.

Steffen Rasmussen (DEN-U/21, 2 caps) 17 matches for AGF last season.

Defenders :

Shane Cansdell-Sheriff (AUS-U/21 ? caps) only played this season (6 matches) but surely a great player. Was a big talent in Leeds but wanted assurance on 1st team football this season, he got no promise in Leeds so he joint AGF.

Midtfielders:

Thomas Kahlenberg, 20yo (DEN-U/21,8 caps, 2 goals) 4 goals in 32 matches for Brøndby last season.

Jonas Kamper (DEN-U/21, 12 caps) 1 goal in 19 matches for Brøndby last season.

Michael Silberbauer,22yo (DEN 1 cap) 5 goals in 28 matches for AAB last season.

Rasmus Würtz (DEN-U/21, 11 caps) 32 matches for AAB last season

Tomek Mazurkiewicz (POL-U/21 Captain, ? caps ) 3 goals in 27 matches for AGF. Wanted by some German clubs. However he was injured and out allmost ½ a season. now he's fit for fight and have played for AGF in the first few matches this season.

Forwards :

Denni Patschinsky 20yo (GER-U/20, ? caps) 2 matches for Viborg so far. wanted by some German clubs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AGF News :

Former Danish international Brian Steen Nielsen has been convicted of violence by a court in Aarhus and fined £400 after admitting head-butting a team-mate.Despite the fact that the AGF Århus team-mate in question, Nikolai Hust... who has now left the club... declined to press charges following the incident at the club's training ground on 22 July this year, Aarhus police decided to investigate the matter, after which the charges were brought.Nielsen had said before the trial that he would retire from football had he been sent to jail, but declined to comment after the verdict was announced. The midfield player, who won 66 caps for Denmark before retiring after the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals, had already been fined £800 by AGF and stripped of the club captaincy.

AGF - Denmark 0-2
0-1:Ebbe Sand
0-2:Ebbe Sand
Attendance 20398

Well...Hard to say if you should laugh or cry....even thou it was a well played "friendly" I would cry if I was Morten Olsen... thou Denmark won the 1st half 2-0...AGF played a great 2nd half and had their chances in the match...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nordsjælland news:

Danish Superligaen club FC Nordsjælland have signed Japanese international goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi (Portsmouth FC) on a two-year contract. The 28 yo Kawaguchi has made 55 appearances for Japan and was captain of his country before losing the No1 shirt ahead of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.Nordsjælland owner Allan K Pedersen stressed that the signing of Kawaguchi did not mean a lack of confidence in the experienced Jan Hoffmann, who only arrived at the club in July. "We just took the chance, as we got this fantastic opportunity to get Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi, and all the time we have been planning to reinforce our team before the remaining games of the autumn season, which will hopefully include four more UEFA Cup matches." Nordsjælland also signed the 28 yo Danish striker Denni Conteh from Sparta Rotterdam

For other stars just check the FCK squad ;) Zuma is probably the biggest star in the league. It is funny that AGF has so many stars, but still are fighting to avoid relegation each year ;)

Well...the reson Zuma is not in my list is because of his age... (I did write young star players !).... Im sure no one will dispute that Leon Andreasen is a star player ??!... however If you look at the AGF team the real good players are very young and there are some crappy players too like the new swedish defender.....AGF have other problems this season as well.... Like the head-butting Brian Steen Nielsen + 3 red cards in 6 matches...That is not the way to win....even thou they only played one crappy match...(FCK-AGF)...

The 3 star players in the FCK-AGF match was Thomas Røll 26 yo, Zuma 28 yo and Erik Mykland 32 yo.... stars... yes...but they hardly qualify in a "young stars" list...Im sure the biggest FCK star this season will be the new forward Alvaro Santos, 23 yo....however he has only played the 25 min against Rangers... and one half against AGF as well... even thou the Rangers match was his first in 4 month and he did score the 1-1 goal...

I guess I just thought Ross420 asked about all star players in the league, since I don't think his knowledge of the league is good enough to know the established stars as well. I would label Martin Albrechtsen a young star. Calling Steffen Rasmussen a young-star is still a bit of a stretch in my book, very talented player is probably more fitting. Actually I would label Ramus Würtz, Denni Patschinsky, Shane Cansdell-Sheriff and Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen talents as well, as they yet have to prove themselves capable of keeping a certain level of play over more than half a season. Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen, but he still has to score a bit more or make more assist in the close games for me to call him a star, he might just be a prodigy in the making. :)
About AGF I really think they might benefit from getting rid of Poul Hansen, because he is not able to deliver to goods consistenly. He actually never has been looking at his previous results even though I admit AGF are fun to watch at times and he always cracks me up with his comments. It's just an observation I don't have any possible replacements and with FCK coach also having his faults I probably shouldn't be making such a comment, but I'm just wondering what your position was on that matter CeresRoyal. Umm de blå!! ;)

CeresRoyal
Sep 5 2003, 05:48 PM
I agree on Martin Albrechtsen, 23 yo ...and Alvaro Santos 23 yo too...the reson they were not in the list is that I only went for players age 18 yo - 22 yo.....Maybe I was a little harsh.....Ramus Würtz, Denni Patschinsky, Shane Cansdell-Sheriff and Steffen Rasmussen are future stars I think and they were not in my "future stars" top 5. ...

Your wellcome to make a Danish League allstar team thou ....if you like.... However I would still choose Leon Andreasen (AGF) as one of the defenders, Jan Kristiansen (Esbjerg) in midtfield, Mohamed Zidan (Midtjylland) and Tommy Bechmann (Esbjerg) as forwards.....using Zuma in midtfield (since he is a natural midtfielder...and do play in midtfield for South Africa).

Did you know Zuma was in the soccerage.com's editorial on the 10 Rising World Cup-Stars 2002 ?
http://www.soccerage.com/en/13/e6010.html

About the AGF coach...well...I dont think it would be a good idea to get yet another coach....I think one of AGF's big problems are the "getting a new coach each year" ....( I dont even remember how many....I think it's 11 the past 12 years or so ?)..They should give him a fair chance... with all the new players and young talents in mind...If you remember we did actually play som great football last season...winning or at least getting points from all the top teams in the League...however loosing to all the crappy teams...but it wasnt really a surprise ...with a whole new team of young talents and some new "older" players too...and a new coach...

I can pretty much agree with your team and I can see you stocked up on central defenders in lack of class wing-backs in the Danish league. On the Poul Hansen issue my instict tells me that the fact that GF played good against the good teams and lost the easy matches is more a Poul Hansen trademark than due to the many new players, just look at his time in Lyngby. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Yes Arkadiusz Onyszko has been ..if not the best..at least allways in the top 3 goalkeepers in the Danish League for years now...

well....the only great wing-back I can think of is Shane Cansdell-Sheriff ...he..he... I didnt see Jesper Grønkjær getting anywhere against him in the AGF-Denmark match ??.....

If I should point out another star player....at least last season....it would be Mattias Jonson, 29yo (SWE) Brøndby....That brings me to my next (Danish League) Info :

Euro 2004 (qualifiers) Group 4

Sweden 5 - 0 San Marino

The two Brøndby players Mattias Jonson and Andreas Jakobsson scored the two first goals for Sweden when they beat San Marino 5-0 in the Euro-04 group 4. ... Mattias Jonson allso scored a hat-trick when Sweden won the San Marino - Sweden (0-6) match in July.

Not a good start for FCK, is it? Looks like Brondby goes for the championship. And who is Esbjerg?!!!

CeresRoyal
Sep 15 2003, 04:25 PM
Personally I'm not surprised to see Esbjerg at the top of the League..They got a good team...and some big stars...As you'll see in my Danish League all-stars ...however they'll probably sell their two young DEN-U21 Super-Stars Jan Kristiansen and Tommy Bechmann....OB Odense got a strong looking team too with the League top scorer (7 goals in 7 matches) Steffen Højer, 30yo (former AC Brescia player)... and some good foreign players like the Dutch defender ( former PSV & Norwich player) Fernando Derveld, 27yo , midtfielder Andrew Tembo 27yo (Zambia, former Olympique de Marseille) + the forward Mwape Miti 30yo (Zambia)

As for FCK and Brøndby... they are still the two best teams in the league...all thou the are not like "Rangers & Celtic" I see the usual signs ..FCK beating Brøndby but loosing to some less talented teams.

The results in the Danish League are allways hard to Predict....Like the AGF team last season...beating the crap out of most of the top teams playing some great football...then loosing to the "crappy" teams ending at the 10 spot in the League !??!...

My Danish League Prediction this season :

1.Brøndby (1-3)
2.FC København (1-3)
3.Esbjerg (2-4)
4.OB Odense (3-5)
5.FC Midtjylland (4-6)
6.AGF Aarhus (5-7)
7.AaB Ålborg (6-8)
8.FC Nordsjælland (7-9)
9.Viborg (8-10)
10.Frem (9-11)

11.AB København (10-12)
12.Herfølge (10-12)

AGF news:
Polish U21 and AGF midtfielder Tomek Mazurkiewicz do not feel he's given a fair chance to show his big talent and wish to leave the club .-"If I shall be honest, I dont think I have a future in the club with Poul Hansen as coach." He says. Mazurkiewicz has played some good matches this season and he played in the match against Herfølge, but only because Mikkel Bo Jensen was sick... and thou Mikkel Bo was not at full strength tuesday he was coach Poul Hansens first choice for the AB København match.-" I like Mikkel Bo...he's a good friend, but I think it's strange he's not fit and goes straight in to the team. I cant understand I'm not given a fair chance to prove my worth" Mazurkiewicz says. Coach Poul Hansen and manager Frank Heskjær understand Mazurkiewicz's difficulties and they dont refuse that he could be put up for loan.-"Last season we had some offers to buy or loan Tomek...I think a loan offer would be a better solution for us " manager Frank Heskjær says.

Mazurkiewicz was a respected player when he came to the club and played some impressive matches last season ... It lead to some offers by some big German clubs...however his problem is that he was injured for a looong time ...then AGF got a new Coach who thinks he's a great player...but that he simply dont fit in to the "system" ....and now a transfer is not possible before december I think.

The Polish goalkeeper Arkadiusz Onyszko who was the saviour in the Viborg - AGF match ( 24/08-03) with some impressive saves giving Viborg a 1-0 win, played yet another good match for Viborg against FC København (2-2) . Viborg who allways rely on their solid defence and a few fast counterattacks !..however the last 30 minutes in the first half of the match against FCK looked more like a icehockey match with FCK power-play and 10 corners! ..

How big are these places: Nordsjælland and Esbjerg. Only some above 1000 spectators? Why is that? And AB Kopenhaven - don`t they have any fans?

CeresRoyal

Over the past ten years FC København has "stolen" the fans from other clubs in/around Copenhagen like AB and Frem...and so has Brøndby !.

The "merge club" FC Midtjylland are still working on a new Football stadium closer to the fans in Herning !. The average attendance in Esbjerg last season (when they finished on the 5th spot in the League) was 5006.

In the middle writing this update...Half of Denmark and Half of Sweden was hit by a power blackout...who brought most of Sjælland (and Copenhagen)...and most of Southern Sweden to a standstill....a storm hit the transmission line separating the two countries...Thou I live in Aarhus , Jylland...I was cut of from the Internet for 2½ hours... Now I'm back so here we go :
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brøndby news:

Most people praise head coach Michael Laudrup for the Brøndby
success in the Danish League this season, but actually it's assistant coach John "Faxe" Jensen who get the most important brøndby players like Morten Wieghorst (former Celtic player), Martin Retov og Andreas Jakobsson (SWE,former Hansa Rostock player) to the club.

"John knows a lot of people via his career as a player ...and as a coach. It has been an unvaluable help to me. Thou I know a lot of people too....my problem is I have played in clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona, and we wont get any players from them."..Head-Coach Laudrup says and he adds that the Brøndby supporters wont be seeing any talents from the big Spanish clubs playing for brøndby...."both Barcelona and Real Madrid normally only loan their talents to other Spanish clubs in La Liga."

Brøndby got Wieghorst, Jakobsson, Retov and goalkeeper Karim Zaza on free transfers. "Zaza is a real scoop, Wieghorst and Jakobsson are now some of the biggest stars in the Superliga, and we got them for free.. We have been both lucky ...and clever." Laudrup says...

"It's my experience when you ask to buy a player from another club, then Suddenly, there are no limits on how great the clubs think their players are and how much they costs ! ...It's all about timing. we get a lot of offers on buying players every week.. but we have to stay cool...I'm allready planning for the next season" Laudrup says with out getting more specific

John "Faxe" Jensen are still in contact with his former club Arsenal..and he’s been close, getting some Arsenal players to Brøndby.

"we made an offer on Sebastian Svärd..and Jermaine Pennant, who cost more than £2m when he came to Arsenal as a 16yo. but unfortunatly we didnt get them"...Jensen says...Pennant is now on loan to Leeds.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well...It's time for the UEFA Cup....how are the the Danish clubs chances ??...Lets see :

Europa Cup 2003/2004:

Champions League:

Q2 : FC København - Sliema Wanderers (MLT) 4-1, 6-0
Q3 : Glasgow Rangers (SCO)- FC København 1-1, 2-1

Uefa Cup :

Qualifying Round :
Brøndby IF - Dinamo Minsk (BLS) 3-0, 2-0
FC Nordsjælland - Shirak Gyumri (ARM) 4-0, 2-0
Esbjerg - Santa Coloma (AND) 5-0 4-1
OB Odense - Tallina VMK (EST) 1-1 3-0

1. Round :
FC København (seeded), Brøndby (seeded), OB Odense , FC Nordsjælland , Esbjerg fB.

FC København - Ferencvaros Budapest (HUN) (50/50)
Brøndby IF - FK Viktoria Zizkov (CZE) (75/25)
Panionios NFC (GRE) - FC Nordsjælland (80/20)
Spartak Moscow (RUS) - Esbjerg (40/60)
OB Odense - FK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Beograd)(SBM) (45/55)
-----------------------------------------------------------
FC København at their best, would normally beat the crap out of any Hungarian team!...however Zuma is out with an injury... and FCK are not playing well ...so maybe not??

Brøndby are very strong at the moment....a super solid defence..and playing some great football(thou not scoring that much goals ??).....versus a Viktoria Zizkov at the bottom of the CZE League ?......

Normally I would give FC Nordsjælland an even chance against a team like Panionios, however FCN playes with no confidence at the moment...at the bottom of the Danish League.....

You may think it would be near to impossible for Esbjerg to beat the former Russian champions ??....Well...Esbjerg are as strong as Brøndby....and the UEFA Cup is top priority this season for the club...Spartak Moscow are not doing well in the Russian League...and they just hired their 3rd coach in 3 month !

OB is a good team....but in Europa Cup you never know what they'll do...or if they'll take it serious at all...(they havent so far this season!)....In 1994/95 they beat Real Madrid in the UC - Round 3. by loosing 2-3 at home and then beating Real 2-0 in Madrid !?! (Real's only home loose that season!)...Last season however, they played s***ty, like they couldnt care less in the first 3 matches...(thou close to win 2-0 in the last home match vs. Celta Vigo !?!).. the results :

2002/03 UC
Q1: MyPa-47 (FIN) - OB Odense , 1-0 & 0-2
R1: Celta Vigo (ESP) - OB Odense , 2-0 & 0-1

But then again ...you never know in the UEFA Cup !.....Maybe I'll look stupid in a few days ;-)

UEFA Cup results

Round 1. :

Ferencvaros Budapest (HUN) - FC København 1-1
0-1: Todi Jonsson (1.)
1-1: Attila Kriston (37.)
Attendance: 8000
FCK playing poorly in the first 45 minutes, besides the 1 minute world class goal from Todi Jonsson....FCK in full controle of the match the last 45 minutes.

Brøndby IF - FK Viktoria Zizkov (CZE) 1-0
1-0: Mattias Jonson (64.)
Attendance: 8939
Brøndby not playing well thou in full controle of the match, however Brøndby allways being a better away team in Europa Cup matches, they got a very good chance of getting to Round 2.

Panionios NFC (GRE) - FC Nordsjælland 2-1
1-0: Miko Smiljanic (30.)
2-0: Adam Majewski (33.)
2-1: Baskim Ziberi (76.)
Attendance: 2500
It seems I was wrong about FC Nordsjælland who nearly got a 2-2 result Putting pressure on Panionios at the end of the match.

Spartak Moscow (RUS) - Esbjerg 2-0
1-0: Alexander Pavlenko (14.)
2-0: Maxim Kalinicenko (33.)
Attendance: 6500
The very young Esbjerg team playing well 45 minutes of this match, however showing their lack of experience giving away two free goals.

OB Odense - FK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Beograd)(SBM) 2-2
1-0: Mwape Miti (16.)
1-1: Nicola Zigic (21.)
1-2: Nicola Zigic (64.)
2-2: Martin Borre (91.)
Attendance: 13500
OB Odense played a good match, thou Red Star having all the luck scoring on their only two chances in the match...If (and I say If...having their extreemly poor defencive play in mind!) if Red Star beat OB in Beograd, I'm sure they wont have much chance of getting further than Round 2. in the UEFA Cup...

Danish Cup Round 4. news :

Viborg - AGF 1-0
1-0: Ralf Pedersen
Attendance : 3.227

Ralf Pedersen scored his first goal in 4 years when Viborg got a lucky win in the League Cup's Round 4. Most of the match Viborg only relying on defence and in big trouble against a good playing AGF team....only the post (twice) and an exelent playing goalkeeper Arek Onyszko prevented AGF from scoring....

Viborg Head coach Ove Christensen dont understand why Onyszko is not a part of the Polish national team...-"I simply cant understand why they wont use him?"...AGF head coach Poul Hansen, on the other hand, had other things on his mind...-"I would like to have Viborgs lotto-coupon this evening, with this kind of luck you simply cant lose!....It was one-way traffic in most of the 2nd half of this match and I still cant understand how they kept us from scoring" he said.

So only the "big firms" stand a real chance of getting through this round of the uefa cup. Ferencvaros isn`t that good as they used to be and Brendby should manage too though it won`t be easy.
The rest - small chances

Well...I didnt see the Panionios NFC (GRE) - FC Nordsjælland 2-1 match, but according to the FC Nordsjælland coach, he was rather pleased with the result and think they got a big chance getting to Round 2.

Even thou Esbjerg did lose, showing their lack of experience they still got a chance ...actually they have beat Spartak Moscow once before at home in a UCL Round 2. match (in 1980/81) the result:
Spartak Moscow (RUS) - Esbjerg, 3-0 & 0-2

Ferencvaros didnt look like they could do any real harm to a FCK team who didnt even play very good.(besides the FCK goal....a fantastic shot from 30 meters out)

As for Brøndby and OB Odense they allmost allways play much better in the away matches (strangely enough??) ...Zizkov only had one real shot at the Brøndby goal the entire match.....and they cant win by playing defencive at home....I'm sure both brøndby and OB will score at least one goal each in the away matches...

some e.g.'s that OB & Brøndby play better in away-matches :
OB Odense
2003/04 UC
Q1: OB Odense - Tallina VMK (EST) 1-1 & 3-0
1996/97 UC
R1:OB Odense - Boavista Porto (POR), 2-3 & 2-1
1994/95 UC
R2: 1.FC Kaiserslautern (GER) - OB Odense, 1-1 & 0-0
R3: OB Odense - Real Madrid (ESP), 2-3 & 2-0
1993/94 CWC
R1: OB Odense - Arsenal London (ENG), 1-2 & 1-1

Brøndby
2001/02 UC
R3: AC Parma (ITA) - Brøndby, 1-1 & 3-0
2000/01 UCL
Q3: Brøndby - SV Hamburg (GER), 0-2 & 0-0
UC R1: Brøndby - NK Osijek (CRO), 1-2 & 0-0

1997/98 UCL
Q2: Brøndby - Dinamo Kiev (UKR), 2-4 & 1-0
1996/97 UC

R2: Aberdeen FC (SCO) - Brøndby, 0-2 & 0-0

QF: CD Tenerife (ESP) - Brøndby, 0-1 & 1-0

Yes... your right...but actually Spartak was a much better team 20 years ago..and Esbjerg was a pure amateur team 20 year ago when they won 2-0...(there where no professional football in Denmark before 1986)...at the moment Spartak are at the bottom (11th place I think) of the Russian league with only 5 matches left to play...and they have no chance of playing Europa Cup next year.... allso they have lost alot of their best players lately and hired 3 new Head coaches in the last 3 month....that sounds like a small crisis to me ??...

Brøndby showing some first class football in the first 35 minutes of the match, however being out-smarted by the FCM tactics in the last 50 minutes.. and by an outstanding man-of-the-match...Zidan.. showing his world class technique and dribbling skills..and scoring two goals.

This is really a surprise. Ejsberg is really that good at the moment or the other teams have some hard time to get through?

FCK - finally a win.

Who is to be the champion?

I think if you take a look at the Allstars-of-the-month, it shows what the Superliga is all about !..so many young stars at the moment its hard to pick...I'm sure next month it'll all look different.....this week it was Mohamed Zidan who was the star player (he will surely be in next month Allstar Team )...

Allstar Team of the month (September) statistics :

AGF Aarhus (2+2) 4 Allstar players
OB Odense (2+1) 3
AaB Ålborg (2+1) 3
Brøndby (2+0) 2
Herfølge (1+1) 2
Viborg (1+1) 2
Esbjerg (1+0) 1
FC København (0+0) 0
FC Midtjylland (0+0) 0
FC Nordsjælland (0+0) 0
Frem (0+0) 0
AB København (0+0) 0

So who is to be the champion? ....I still think Brøndby...they normally got a defence as solid as any Italian team, even when they play a s***ty match...
FCK ?? hard to say, but they do have the players and the quality to be Champions ....
With a lot of very young star players Esbjerg lack the experience and they may sell some of their best players, Champions..I think not..
A "dark horse" could be OB Odense...
FC Midtjylland is doing what AGF did last season...beating the crap out of the top teams...losing to the s***ty teams....
My own team AGF is on a raid "looting" the Swedish League for any star player they find (just ask Örgryte)....however you dont get to be a top 3 Team with this many new players...maybe next year...

My Danish League Prediction (15/9-2003) still stands :

1.Brøndby (1-3)
2.FC København (1-3)
3.Esbjerg (2-4)
4.OB Odense (3-5)
5.FC Midtjylland (4-6)
6.AGF Aarhus (5-7)
7.AaB Ålborg (6-8)
8.FC Nordsjælland (7-9)
9.Viborg (8-10)
10.Frem (9-11)

11.AB København (10-12)

Superliga news:

The Swedish club Örgryte is systematicly being drained of all its quality by Danish Superliga clubs. First they lost two of their best players to AGF, midtfielders Jeffrey Aubynn, 25yo (SWE 3 caps) and Martin Ulander,27yo (SWE 5 caps).. and now AaB Ålborg is about to sign the Örgryte Head coach Erik Hamrén.

The problems with Örgryte, denying to discuss a transfer of Martin Ulander to AGF before the transfer deadline, even thou they wont let him play for Örgryte, in anger of him signing a contract with AGF, seems to be solved, so he may move to AGF before the end of his Örgryte contract (in December)...however AGF is on the move ...trying to sign the forward Peter Ijeh, 26 yo (Nigeria 5 caps), Malmö FF..

Ijeh who finished as top-scorer in the Swedish league last season, with 24 goals in 23 games,..is not eager (according to newspapers and mff-fans.com ) to sign a new contract with Malmö FF... unless he gets a pay rise from £30,000 a year to £175,000 a year..wich Malmö FF hardly can afford.

As expected AaB Ålborg have signed Örgryte head coach Erik Hamrén, 44 yo (SWE) on a 3 year contract.

FC København reported its lowest full-year profit in five years. The 2003 accunts show a £5m profit (not including a £1m loss and a £3m deficit on transfers), reporting a low £1m profit before tax in 2003, however increasing the capital to £50m.

AB København reported a full-year £1½m loss in 2003, reducing the capital to £600,000

AGF reported a expected full-year £500,000 loss in 2003. The reson being a 30% increase of wages expenses...

Income : £23½m ( Wage expenses : £7½m )
Capital : £42m (seems I made a calculation error somewhere !... not £50m ..)

An average full-year budget in the superliga looks like this :

Is Groclin at the top ( in budgets ) ??

However, as you see no Danish club stand much chance against FC København...not even Brøndby (Income : £11m, Wage expenses : £4m )

FCK expect a £5m to £6m profit (not including transfers or Europa Cup profits) in 2004. The FCK club value ( £86m ) include the stadion "Parken" and an estimated Player value ( £7m...a very low estimate ??...they got £6m when they sold Christian Poulsen to Schalke 04 in 2002 )

This is how the whole system rolls. Look at Wolverhampton, Chelsea.
Even TV can be the rich guy - like Canal + in Poland or ITV in England.

"Has Onyszko applied for Danish citizenship yet?"...no I dont think so...it would do him no good ( He cant play for Denmark since he got 2 A-caps and 30 U-caps for Poland )

The Dutch defender Fernando Derveld ( OB Odense ) wants to play for Denmark and is thinking of getting a Danish citizenship, however he has played some Dutch U-caps too...so I dont think he has any chance either....

As far as I know U-matches doesn't count only senior level national caps, but it takes so long to get a Danish citizenship anyway that they'll both be to old to move around pitch by the time they get it. :Kenzo's Smiley

The 12,000 AGF fans (Singing "You let us down!") at Aarhus Stadion was very angry at their teams performance when they lost 0-5 to OB Odense...thou AGF played well the first 20 minutes, the team totaly collapsed when OB Odense scored their first goal in the match (at their first chance)...and then their 2nd goal after 32 minutes play....

In the aftermatch interviews, the AGF coach said that this defeat was the hardest of all to take and the worst ever in his career......forward Peter Graulund expressed the players embarresment by their poor preformance, calling it the most embarresing match of his career ...Tomek Mazurkiewicz who was pleased to get a chance to play, however not pleased with the result...-"The four defenders was being made look stupid in this match. But the whole team was to blame for this...we only did well in the first 20 minutes" he said rushing to the airport to join the Polish U21 National Team...AGF manager Frank Heskjær was angry ...this is simply not good enough...I'll have a serious talk with Head coach Poul Hansen...and then with the rest of the team ...

Usually a lot of goals are scored in the matches between AGF and OB , but never a 0-5 home lose ! (last seasons results AGF -OB 3-2 , 4-1 and 2-2 in the away match)....and Yes...Mazurkiewicz do speak some danish...

Viborg news:
Arek Onyszko - "6 years at the same club is a long time, and I think it would be best, if my agent find me another club...I think it would be great if Viborg could make some money by selling me now" he says...Onyszko's contract expires in less than a year and according to Viborg manager Morten Jensen, the club still hopes to get Onyszko to sign a new contract...The Viborg keeper says-"I'll not deny there is a slim chance I'll sign-on for another year...but that will be the end of it..I'll be 30 years-old in January and soon at the top of my career...and I would like to see my self in an English or German team" ...However FC København have shown some interest in the Polish keeper..."I have to say, I have not been in contact with FCK, but a club of that calibre would be very interesting for me...The club is allways at a top-level...so I would be very Interested" Onyszko says.

I'm sure he would never go to Sweden.... non of the swedish clubs would be able to afford to pay his wages...and yes...I think he has picked the wrong moment to find a new club....with most of football Europe in debts it's not easy to find a club....and even harder if your a goalkeeper ... Viborg is not a club who attracts any interest from foreign clubs or media...so I'm not surprised he has been forgotten by the Polish media...however if he goes to FCK then I'm sure you will see him play for the Polish national team in the near future...He is that good...

Just to clarify :
FCK have the Hungarian goalkeeper Balázs Rabóczki (the first choice in the Hungarian national team) and the current second choice in FCK (the third choice in the Swedish national team) Magnus Kihlstedt....however the club are not realy happy with any of them...Arek Onyszko is a much better keeper and would have no difficulties being first choice in FCK if they sign him...

Now I think of it...a lot of foreign Goalkeepers have left/failed in FCK the past few years...Antti Niemi (FIN 19 caps) in 1996.. Then Glasgow Rangers and now in Southampton, Thomas Gill (NOR ?caps) 98/99 ,former MSV Duisburg and now ?, Thomas Myhre (NOR 15 caps) 00/01 , former Rangers, Birmingham, Sunderland and now in Everton, Karim Zaza (DEN/Morocco 1 cap) 00/01 now in OB Odense, Magnus Kihlsted (SWE ?Caps) 01/02 still at the club.

The Danish Football history lesson

Did you know ??:

The English football legend Sir Bobby Moore played for the Danish club Herning in the late 70's ....

BOBBY MOORE OBE 1941-1993 (ENG 108 caps)
West Ham (1958 - 1974), Fulham (1974 - 1977), Herning (1977 - 78)
The incomparable Pele famously called Sir Bobby Moore "the finest defender in the world". Moore was coolness personified at the heart of the defence and he famously captained England to World Cup glory in 1966. He led his beloved West Ham to FA Cup (1964) and European Cup Winners Cup (1965) success and was named Footballer of the Year in 1964. Moore had everything... calmness under pressure, an almost telepathic ability to read the game, great tackling ability and excellent distribution. A legend who was an ambassador for the game. Sir Bobby Moore died from cancer at the age of 51 in 1993.

Don't remind me of Thomas Gill, probably one of the worst buys ever in the history of FCK. Calling Karim Zaza a foreigner is a bit of a stretch even though he was capped ones for Marocco, seeing that he has lived all of his life in Denmark.
To pyrtas Kiraly is indeed the first choice in the Hungarian national team, I think Rabo is down at the third choice. Signing Arek Onyszko would be a great idea in my mind as he has shown consistantly that he is a great goalkeeper with very few weak points and he speaks Danish, which neither Rabo or Kihlstedt do. However I doubt whether Niels Christian Holstrøm, FCK's sports director, will sign the guy because he would then be signalling that the other two which he bought were bad purchases. Other Danish League News is that Frem, just promoted this season, have fired their manager Ole Mørk and former Brøndby manager Ebbe Skovdahl is being toutted as his succesor.

Well you got ahead of me on this news Big Pete ....but here you are :

6 defeats was one to many for the club Frem. Yesterday the head coach Ole Mørk was the first Superliga coach to get sacked this season...and today former Benfica and Aberdeen manager Ebbe Skovdahl, was presented at a press conference, as the new head coach in Frem.

To Pyrtas ... Frem was a little to fast employing a new manager, to get Ranieri , and I seriously doubt they had the money to employ him (Ranieri) anyway...

No, no Frem are loaded with cash after all they are the club of the working class, so they can always borrow from the unions or get some money through their political connections on account of solidarity :P

I must admit I was wondering whether they had been to fast to fire Ole Mørk last night, but when seeing the replacement I think they have done a smart thing. Even though I'm not a great fan of Brøndby Ebbe Skovdahl is not half as bad as many made him out to be. Now he has been in Aberdeen so he is used to working in conditions with little cash and two dominating teams in the league

I think most people agree Ebbe did a great job in Aberdeen....with no money what so ever !....and if I'm not mistaken he quit the job as manager in Aberdeen...thou they didnt want him to go..

Well...It's time for the UEFA Cup....how are the the Danish clubs chances ??...Lets see :

Europa Cup 2003/2004:

1. Round :

Ferencvaros Budapest (HUN) - FC København 1-1
Brøndby IF - FK Viktoria Zizkov (CZE) 1-0
Panionios NFC (GRE) - FC Nordsjælland 2-1
Spartak Moscow (RUS) - Esbjerg 2-0
OB Odense - FK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Beograd)(SBM) 2-2

FC København - Ferencvaros Budapest (HUN) (80/20)
Ferencvaros didnt look like they could do any real harm to a FCK team who didnt even play very good in the away match.

FK Viktoria Zizkov (CZE) - Brøndby IF (40/60)
Zizkov only had one shot at the Brøndby goal the entire match.....and they cant win by playing defencive at home...Brøndby allmost allways play much better in the away matches.

FC Nordsjælland - Panionios NFC (GRE) (60/40)
According to the FC Nordsjælland coach, he was rather pleased with the away match... thou his team was unlucky not scoring 2-3 goals in the 2nd half of the away match...

Esbjerg - Spartak Moscow (RUS) (30/70)
Esbjerg showing their lack of experience in the away match..thou not playing bad and actually being the better team in the first half of the match... still got a slim chance.

FK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Beograd)(SBM) - OB Odense (70/30)
As Brøndby, OB Odense allmost allways play much better in the away matches...but you never know with this OB team...still a slim chance

Europa Cup 2003/2004 results:

Round 1. :

FC København - Ferencvaros Budapest (HUN) 1-1 (Pen 4-3) First leg 1-1
Thomas Røll missed pen (29)
0-1: Peter Lipcsei (83)
1-1: Peter Nielsen (pen) (89)
Red card: Dragan Vukmir (92)
Penalties:
1-2: Zoltan Gera (pen) (121)
2-2: Peter Christiansen (pen) (122)
Marius Sasu missed pen (123)
3-2: Peter Nielsen (pen) (124)
Peter Lipcsei missed pen (125)
Peter Møller missed pen (126)
Leanardo missed pen (127)
Thomas Røll missed pen (128)
3-3: Lajos Szucs (pen) (129)
4-3: Álvaro Santos (pen) (130)
FC København win 4-3 on penalties
Attendance : 16,597
A poor FCK preformance in a s***ty match...Thomas Røll being the "bad guy" missing two penalties.....however great drama ending with a great preformance by the Swedish FCK goalkeeper Magnus Kihlsted who saved the day in the penalty shoot-out

FC Nordsjælland - Panionios (GRE) 0-1 (First leg 1-2)
0-1: Alain Raguel (95)
Attendance : 2,606
I was going to write that by some miracle this match ended in a goal-less draw, but the Panionios goal in the last second in the 5 minute extra time only show the kind of misfortune that haunts FC Nordsjælland at the moment...A 5-3 win for FC Nordsjælland would have been a fair result, but it seems the FCN forwards are struck by some curse...

Esbjerg - Spartak Moscow (RUS) 1-1 (First leg 0-2)
0-1: Roman Pavlyuchenko (44)
Red Card: Roman Pavlyuchenko (61)
1-1: Lasse Kryger (87)
Attendance : 6,448 (Aarhus Stadion)
Spartak had one single shot at the Esbjerg goalkeeper in the entire first half...and it gave them the single goal they needed to secure the match...As in the away match Esbjerg "lost" showing their lack of experience .....

FK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrad)(SBM) - OB Odense 4-3 (First leg 2-2 )
1-0: Nikola Zigic (2)
1-1: Nicolai Stokholm (11)
2-1: Nemanja Vidic (12)
3-1: Bojan Djordjic (27)
3-2: Steffen Højer (38)
3-3: Thomas Lindrup (77)
4-3: Nemanja Vidic (87)
Attendance : ??
I didnt see this match, but as I said, OB Odense allmost allways play much better in the away matches, even thou they lost this one.....Congrats to the former AGF player (last season) Bojan Djordjic , who "produced" the 2nd goal and scored the 3rd goal for Red Star Belgrad...

Thursday :

FK Viktoria Zizkov (CZE) - Brøndby IF (40/60)

Well....it's ok to play a fairly good match and lose against a better team...what annoy me about yesterdays results is the fact, that non of the Danish teams played well and they all did less than an average preformance....and yet OB Odense was very close to get the 3-3 result they needed.... FC Nordsjælland should have won against a clearly less talented opponent....and then FCK's very poor preformance !... thou they did win on penalties....very sad indeed !....

Pølser and Carlsberg øl :Kenzo's Smiley FCK probably had the most luck they have ever had in the history of the game and they played like utter crap. They have now played awful since they bowed out to Glasgow Rangers and the seat under Hans Backe is getting warmer. If OB would have had an ounce of FC luck they would have gone on against Red Star.

Ohh so they can also get Wisla how interesting. Actually that would be a crap draw for FCK the way they are playing at the moment since very little geld would be earned from such as match and we would very likely lose. Superliga news:

FC Nordsjælland head coach Christian Andersen may well be the 3rd head coach to get sacked this season after the hopeless 1-7 preformance against FCM ...not to forget the 5-1 defeat to Frem only 3 days ago !...

However, the rumours that AGF coach Poul Hansen is going to be the 2nd coach to get sacked this season and replaced by the Djurgården head coach Sören Åkeby, is the big news in all the Danish media the past few days...

Poul Hansen is demanding answers about his future in the club...The manager Frank Heskjær is refusing to deny anything ...or is he ??...and the owner of AGF, the £50m "rich guy" Kurt Andersens, is saying nothing at all....The Swedish Djurgården coach saying he wont comment on his future situation untill next week, after his last match in Allswenskan as head coach in Djurgården, who just won their 2nd Swedish championship in a row....A guess is that both manager Frank Heskjær and coach Poul Hansen will be looking for a new job in a week or so....but then again...who knows?!?....If your confused ??...well...it's only "business as usual" in AGF...the Danish version of the "madhouse" in Barcelona...

Big Pete

I think that AGF should get them fired as soon as possible because if they keep draging it out the players are not going to listen to Poul Hansen, if they indeed are now, and AGF will keep getting their ass kicked.

I don't know much about Søren Åkeby except for seeing Djurgarden play and they are a good team that gets the job done, but they also have a player like Kim Kallstrøm so difficult to say if he can do the same from AGF. However I like the fact that he has so result previously in his career that demands respect.

The way that Onysko played yesterday I couldn't see why he should be called up for the national team. :bowing

AGF coach Poul Hansen is the 2nd head coach to get sacked this season, the new coach Sören Åkeby,Djurgården will be presented tuesday at a press conference...The chairman of "AGF contract-football A/S" has resigned however, Frank Heskjær stays as manager of the club....The players are surprised and dissapointed...AGF forward Peter Graulund says "If it was up to me, Poul Hansen would not have been sacked...Poul Hansen is a good coach, and I know all the players thinks the same way"

If he is really surprised he must be dumber than I thought. No result=fired
The first thing your new coach is going to do is get the organization on the team under control just like Backe, so get ready for some less attractive football but with more wins. :)

I wonderr why there are no Danish players in Polish league. They should be pretty cheap from the 2nd div in Denmark. But maybe they aren`t good enough.... Or polish clubs lack good scouting...

Big Pete
Oct 24 2003, 01:29 PM
The players in the 2nd division are not good enough to play in the Polish Ekstraklasa, but some of the 1.division players are. However I don't think that many Danish players are willing to go to Eastern Europe to play even if the money is better. At least it has been this way so far and it would take a real lack of jobs before it would be attractive to them since many have images of Poland and other countries that simply isn't reality any more. U know no money, no food etc.

But maybe that will change when you enter into the EU as many benefits from Denmark can be "taken along" when moving to Poland. Also if the money in Polish football get big enough and the money gets smaller in Denmark then they would change their mind. Kind of like the Moscow clubs becoming more attractive to foreign players due to their high wages.

AGF news:
"- AGF is going to win the Danish League before 2006"
Sören Åkeby, Coach of the year 2000 in Sweden and Swedish champion with Djurgården 2002 and 2003...is not afraid to make a promise "- AGF will get the Gold within 3 years. AGF is a club with a enormouse potential. There is no doubt AGF can be the best in Denmark. This is for sure" Åkeby says..."- My accession was a little quicker than I had expected. Actually I was suppose to begin as coach the 1st january 2004. It'll be a tough start, but at the same time a great challenge."

Darwin methods and the Ajax-system awaits in AGF.
When Åkeby took over as coach in Djurgården (1999) it was a club in debts and confusion...in 2000 he won the club promotion to Allsvenskan and since he has been a trend-setter in the Swedish league...
Charles Darwin method : The strong "survive", the weak will "die"- I do a very thorough research on each player..and I dont need players who think they can do it...only players who are sure in every thing they do" he says...As a person Åkeby has much in common with the Danish national coach Morten Olsen. Both play an attacking (but never naive) type of game ... and both prefer the Ajax-system : 4-3-3

Well...as you probably know the FCK (KB of 1876) and AGF (of 1880) fans agree in their wiew on Brøndby (of 1964).....I say no more...

I like this coach Åkeby thou .... He surely dont lack any self-confidence...thou he is right that AGF has a enormouse potential... just take a short look at the average home attendance despite the fact AGF have had some troublesome (6½) years in the bottom of the league.... However, AGF is the only team who have played in the top division every season since 1977...and AGF have only missed out 9 seasons since 1927..

The Danish football history lesson :
In the mid 1980's Brøndby came out of nowhere intruducing professional football in Denmark, making them a top club, and like the "Old Firm" in Scotland, Brøndby and AGF was the two big clubs from the early/mid 80's to the late 90's...In 1992 FC København emerged from a fusion of KB København and B1903. However, only with limited sucess in the 90's with a gold and a silver medal in 1993 and 1994.

Brøndby won the League 3 years in a row 1996-98...AGF got the silver in 96 and the Bronce medal in 97..and then the whole AGF-team was lost due to the Bosman case...AGF had no players and was allmost broke..and with no patience to build up a new team, AGF was buying players they could not afford...getting no quick results...sacking the coach...getting new players..no results...sacking the coach...getting new players..and so on for the past 6½ years ....In the mid/late 90's, it looked like Brøndby would be what Rosenborg is in Norway, but Brøndby had invested their money buying a Bank who went bancrupt and left Brøndby with £20m in debts....

FCK on the other hand, with Chairman Flemming Ammentorp Østergaard (known as Don Ø) in charge, made FCK the most wealthy club in Scandinavia... and the biggest club in Denmark ...At the moment only Brøndby is able to compeat with FCK. However, with a lot of young highly talented players, a rich guy spending £3m the past 2 years in AGF, plus him bringing two new rich investors and £2½m next year..and bringing the most sucessfull and celebrated coach in the Swedish league of the past 4 years, to AGF ...I guess it will only be a matter of a few years, then AGF will be "back on the track" as they were in the 80's and 90's... If coach Åkeby is given a chance to do his job...

I still remember when AGF won the Danish Championship with Troels Rasmussen on the team, who I was a big fan of at the time.
Whether AGF can make a rapid and sustainable return to the top of course depends on the abilities of Åkeby but to a higher degree depends on the management outside the field. If they are able to turn AGF into a profitable business that doesn't need injections of cash every 6 months they will have come a long way. I might add that wih such a big market like Århus is I'm still amazed that they haven't succeed in that years ago, but then again when they hadn't setup such simple thing as a merchandise shop until a couple a months ago one shouldn't be surprised. To put things into perspective FCK, Brøndby, AAB and others have had their shops for minimum 5 years

Is there any demand on his skills in Denmark? The wors thing an ambitious footballer can do is to fall out with his employer leave and.... stay jobless.

I think there is a possibility that he might go on a free transfer to FCK, since our current first choice goalkeeper, Magnus Kihlstedt, contract expires then. He has to leave Denmark because he is being taxed lower due to being specialized labour however if he is still in Denmark after three years he has to repay the discount he got on his taxes the previous years.

Superstrike yesterday by Zuma in what was really a boring match, but Aab also played a 4-5-1 formation at home.

My personal wiew :
Arek Onyszko wants to leave Viborg to play in a bigger club .... since the transfermarket is allmost dead at the moment, he knows that with him being among the top 3 goalkeepers in the league... and going public with the news that he will soon be availabel on a free transfer...it will be easy for him to find a new club....

I agree with Big Pete.... I guess FCK probably is interested in a new goalkeeper, Balazs Raboczki is simply not good enough at the moment ... and even thou Magnus Kihlsted is doing a good job... their is the problem with his contract, (It's a 3 year 25% tax deal) that expires at the end of this season...so either they let him go on a free transfer or they probably need to pay him twice as much in wages ...

Brøndby got Karim Zaza 28yo (DEN/Morocco, 1 cap) and Casper Ankergren 24yo (U21, 3 caps) so they dont need a new goalkeeper... Esbjerg got a good goalkeeper in Lars Winde (one U21 cap, former AaB and Casino Bregenz),OB Odense.. perhaps a chance ??..., AaB got Jimmy Nielsen 26yo (U21, 17 caps former Millwall), AGF got two highly tallented keepers in Steffen Rasmussen 21yo (DEN U21) and 2nd keeper Rune Pedersen 23yo (U21, 8 caps, former FCK and Modena ), FC Midtjylland got Peter Skov-Jensen 32yo (2 Danish caps)...

01/11 - 2003:

FC Midtjylland - Brøndby 0-2
0-1: Jonas Kamper (19)
0-2: Thomas Kahlenberg (24)
Attendance: 5,849

Brøndby playing a brilliant first half, with the two DEN-U21 players Jonas Kamper and Thomas Kahlenberg playing a dominant role scoring the two goals...Then a 2nd half with a Brøndby team relying totaly on their rock-solid defence, showing that they are allmost invincible at the moment...

02/11 - 2003:

AB København - Viborg 0-3
0-1: Klaus Kærgård (43)
0-2: Søren Frederiksen (68)
0-3: Sasho Petrovski (91)
Attendance: 1,201

Well..A very poor AB preformance and the 10th AB defeat in a row .. It looks like the Superliga record of 12 defeats in a row may be beaten....

Frem - AGF Aarhus 1-2
0-1: Thomas Thorninger (19)
0-2: Shane Cansdell-Sherriff (58)
1-2: Lars Brøgger (75)
Attendance: 3,151

An excellent first half with lots of goal opportunities however, only the one brilliant goal by the former Udinese player Thomas Thorninger....AGF playing a more defencive 2nd half thou the former Leeds player Shane Sherriff(AUS U21) got to score his first goal for AGF...coach Åkeby getting his 2nd deserved win in two matches...

Herfølge - AaB Ålborg
0-1: David Nielsen (8)
0-2: Christian Lundberg (41)
1-2: Chris Hermansen (48)
1-3: David Nielsen (61)
2-3: Anders Jochumsen (71)
3-3: Morten Avnskjold (91)
Attendance: 1,678

Great entertainment from both teams...even thou AaB was playing a very defencive 2nd half..

FC Nordsjælland - OB Odense 3-0
1-0: Denni Conteh (48)
2-0: Tommy Olsen (72)
3-0: Carsten Fredgaard (83)
Attendance: 1,679

Probably the most boring first half of any match this season...A 2nd half with a FCN team playing with more self-confidence against a very poor playing OB team...

FC København - Esbjerg 0-1
0-1:Tommy Bechmann (10)
Peter Nielsen,FCK (Missed Penalty) (17)
Red card: Anders Møller Christensen,Esbjerg (40)
Attendance: 22,220

Esbjerg clearly being the better team in the first half of this match.... However, a red card given to Esbjerg made them play very defencive in the 2nd half...FCK allmost playing "power-play", thou getting nowhere against a solid Esbjerg defence...

Well...It's time for the UEFA Cup....how are the the Danish clubs chances ??...Lets see :

Europa Cup 2003/2004 Round 2 :
FC København - RCD Mallorca (ESP) 30/70
FC Schalke 04 (GER) - Brøndby IF 50/50
--------------
It will be FCK's 2nd encounter with a Spanish team in Europa-cup...and the first encounter with a Danish team for Real Mallorca.... FC København is not playing well at the moment...so I guess probably a draw in the home match and that FCK will lose the away match...
The latest FCK - Spanish UEFA Cup encounter :
1997/98 CWC
R2: Real Betis Sevilla (ESP) - FC København, 2-0 & 1-1

The latest Danish - Spanish UEFA Cup encounter :
2002/03 UC
R1: Celta Vigo (ESP) - OB Odense, 2-0 & 0-1

The FCK Europa Cup matches this season 2003/2004:
Champions League:
Q2 : FC København - Sliema Wanderers (MLT) 4-1, 6-0
Q3 : Glasgow Rangers (SCO)- FC København 1-1, 2-1
Uefa Cup:
R1 : Ferencvaros Budapest (HUN) - FC København 1-1, 1-1 (Penalty shootout 2-3)
---------------
Only one German team (Borussia Dortmund) have eliminated Brøndby in the UEFA Cup ... and they were lucky to do so .... Since Brøndby is a better away team, they probably need to win or get at least a 1-1 or 2-2 result in the away match... I wont be surprised if Brøndby draw/lose the home match...However, I'm sure they will score at least one goal in the away match like they allways do...
The latest Brøndby - German UEFA Cup encounter :
1996/97 UC
R3: Brøndby IF - SC Karlsruhe (GER), 1-3 & 5-0 (The biggest German UC home defeat ever!)

The Brøndby UEFA Cup matches this season 2003/2004:
QR : Brøndby IF - Dinamo Minsk (BLS) 3-0, 2-0
R1 : Brøndby IF - FK Viktoria Zizkov (CZE) 1-0, 1-0

It doesn't look good for FCK even though Mallorca got their ass kicked by Valencia, since they got a man red carded after 1 minute while commiting a penalty. The biggest problem for FCK is their inefficienty of course combined with the lack a constructive attacking football. They are only able to score on penalties, roughly 50% of time and rarely score more than 1 goal per match, which simply is not enough in Europe or Denmark for that matter unless you can prevent the opponent from scoring and they haven't been successful in that yet.
Real Betis was also place in the bottom end of the table when we faced them, but had good players like Alfonso, Findi George and others that proved to be difference in some thight matched. So unless FCK start putting their chances away I'm affraid we'll have a repeat with Eto'o playing a central role.
Brøndby on the other hand are not overmatched by Schalke 04 and in my opinion have a 60-40 chance of advancing against.

Anyway I cheer for FCK. Why is it that we can't score goals Pete? Is Zouma in drop of his form or he doesn't get any passess. I saw some Brazilian scoring for FCK recently - is he good?

"I saw some Brazilian scoring for FCK recently - is he good? "

Your thinking of FCK's "new" 23yo striker Alvaro Santos ... well.... they did consider him the brightest star in the Swedish Allsvenskan, were he scored 35 goals in 63 games for Helsingborg....and I think FCK payed around £1½m for him.... However, he had been injured and out for about 3-4 month when they got him just before the Rangers match... he scored the 1-1 goal against Rangers, but he didnt seem to be fit... He's gettin better thou...and certanly got the quality to be a star player (probably next season)....but I guess it's still a little to soon....

Morten Olsen speaks:
The Danish National Coach Morten Olsen is never afraid to say what he thinks... Yesterday in a TV show on Viasat Sport, he was asked why the defender Per Krøldrup, Udinese , is not good enough for the Danish national team.... thou he never wish to comment on each/any player, he did say this -"I think the Italian serie A is overrated. In my wiew ther is only 5 to 6 very good teams. The rest of the teams are at about the same level as the teams in the Danish league.."he allso said- "I will never be a national coach for another country than Denmark. I'm proud to be a National coach, but I could never imagine my self as a national coach in another country.." Morten Olsens contract with DBU expires in 2006 ...

It's spelled Zuma my dear cousin :)

Zuma is not a striker he's is a forward who creates chances and occasionally scores goals. When he scores it is usually in certain periods, but he is not very efficient so this was the reason we bought this supposed goal-machine Álvaro Santos who in CM4 pours them in when buying him in the Brazilian league. The excuse for him not scoring is his injury, but so far it doesn't look like he'll be a goal-machine in Denmark. First during his long injury he must have spent too much time in the weight room and bulked up, resulting in a decrease in his speed and acceleration since he seems a lot slower than the couple of times I've seen him on Swedish TV. Or maybe the Danish defenders are just faster. Adding to that something that cannot be attributed to the injury, his first touch. It's awful that he is Brazilian is difficult to believe since the ball jumps 2-3 meters from him most of the time, maybe his speed made up for this in the past but now it just looks embarrasing. What speaks to his favor is that he is still relatively young, 23, and therefore might develop as a player and become a goal-machine, but I do have my doubts. He's looking more and more like a Jørgen Petterson.

Generally there are to few good passes to the forwards in FCK due to an overall bad playing team that rely to much on long balls when taking into account the skills of the players i.e. managers fault

23 years of age and so bad ball-reception? Must be Heskey the 2nd!. Speed is nothing when you cant "glue" the pass.

FCK play bad lately. And this is why i tend to leave their games out when betting.

In betting terms Brøndby are the safer bet, score more goals and therefore less likely to draw than FCK that rarely score more than one goal. However be careful to bet on the Copenhagen Firm as these matched are very difficult to predict, but have very few draws

Well... To be quite frank the lack of a real "goal-machine" it's not a new FCK problem...actually FCK have never had a Liga topscorer..and when they buy one it's allways like he is struck by some strange (Brøndby ?) curse...just take a short look at the statistics :

1-1: Martin Albrechtsen (31)
1-2: Domingo Nagore Arbizu (72)

Well...in my wiew a poor playing FCK without some of their best players Thomas Røll, Erik Mykland against an allmost just as poor Mallorca team .... But I'll let Big Pete do the talking ??...

FC Schalke 04 (GER) - Brøndby IF 2-1
0-1: Andreas Jakobsson (34)
1-1: Mike Hanke (59)
2-1: Mike Hanke (72)
Attendance: 50,538

A very good playing Schalke team, with the one-man army Mike Hanke scoring two goals in a deserved win against a poor playing Brøndby team... Only a very few of the Brøndby players like Morten Wieghorst and Andreas Jakobsson did their usual solid preformance .... especially the younger players and Mattias Jonson did a very poor job in this match...Thou I guess both teams will be happy with the result....And the chances ??....still 50/50 I would say...

Team news :
Exactly one year ago Sibusiso Zuma signed a new contract with FCK binding him to the club untill the year 2006...Hovever, now Zuma regrets the contract. He says " Dont get me wrong. I love FCK. Me and my family feel at home at the club... But it was a clear mistake not just to let the contract expire. I should have taken the chance to be on a free transfer.... I'm sure they, like me, had figured that they would sell me at some point...and I'm not getting any younger."..Zuma was the only FCK player showing some "class" in the dissapointing UEFA Cup defeat against Mallorca, and the poor FCK Europa Cup preformance the past few years are a main reson why he wants to leave the club -" My friends say I should move on to a bigger club....but it dosnt do me any good when we get kicked out in 1st and 2nd runde...I think I played well against Mallorca...but as a team we were not good enough...It was very dissapointing to see that they could win 2-1 without even playing well«" he says...

Brøndby coach Michael Laudrup was unhappy with the preformance in the 1-2 UEFA Cup defeat in the away match against Schalke...however fairly happy with the result and he thinks Brøndby still got a 50/50 chance...

AGF have signed a historic 4 year sponsor contract with the sportwear compagny Hummel worth about £1m...and for the first time in history giving a Danish club exclusive full rights of sales, distribution, merchandising and developing of the clubs own custom-made sportswear...

Man of the match named by danish TV3 the South African national Josta Dladla who scored an excellent goal and showed som brilliant technique and dribbling skills...Thou AGF dominated most of this match and should have scored 2-3 goals more, they got into a bit of trouble in the last 15 minutes, getting a red card.. giving the penalty goal for FCM....

General news:

AaB Alborg got a 16yo junior super-talent in the U-17 goalkeeper Kenneth Stenild Nielsen, who is wanted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, he has just returned from a short visit at Manchester United, who thinks he may be the new "Peter Schmeichel."

"I've never seen anything like this . This season there was 8 Premier League clubs asking Kenneth to pay their club a visit. With him and his parents we chose to visit United and Arsenal, so he will get a sense of what it's like in a big club." AaB sports manager Lynge Jacobsen says....however, AaB still got Kenneth on a 3 year contract...

Brøndby and Ijeh ?? :
Brøndby was said to have signed the forward Peter Ijeh, 26yo (Nigeria 5 caps), Malmö FF (Ijeh who was the topscorer in the Swedish league last season, with 24 goals in 23 matches) but now Brøndby deny that they know anything about a contract or that they would even be interested in signing Ijeh...Ijeh maintain that he know nothing about his future...-" I cant get hold on my Agent...He has totaly vanished and dosnt answer any phone calls or return messages." Ijeh says...

First the Mallorca game: Simply a terrible performance if one can call it a performance. A reserve squad from Mallorca scored two simple goals while FCK couldn't put any preasure on them and played a sloppy round of football. The match supports my view of Hans Backe that he doesn't have what it takes to make FCK a European class team. Brøndby vs. FCK was a super match where Brøndby had a load of chances in the 1st half but didn't connect on them. FCK were ahead two times, failed to close the match letting Brøndby score twice on set pieces (corner and freekick) which is simply not good enough even though Brøndby had more chances overall. A late shoot on the post at 2-2 was the closest FCK got to the win. FCK played better with Zuma being outstanding, but then FCK always raise their game against Brøndby so the real test is the next match and whether they can play like that against other teams.
I'm hoping Hans Backe gets the position of Swedish National coach after Euro 2004 as he's rumoured to be the frontrunner for, because then we can finally get rid of him and get some money out of it as well :king

Urmas Rooba (DL) is out for at least half a year after tearing a ligament in the Mallorca match, which means that Peter Christiansen is safe as left full-back even though his performance in the latest matches has been dismal

The positive thing of the Mallorca match is , that I dont think Mallorca can play much better at the moment that they did against FCK.... They are simply not that good a team, even with their other first team players... FCK however, can play much better... and if they do play as good as in the Brøndby-FCK match...perhaps they still got a chance in the match in Mallorca.... like when Brøndby won in Tenerife some years ago...

In the Brøndby-FCK match it clearly looked like Zuma wanted to prove that he regret some of his statements to the press .... and he did show that it's not only empty words when he did say "Dont get me wrong. I love FCK. Me and my family feel at home at the club.."

"I'm hoping Hans Backe gets the position of Swedish National coach"... Probably a good idea... I've never been that big a "fan" of Hans Backe .... but who should take over as Coach in FCK then ??....I know FCK wanted Sören Akeby but now he is in AGF... so who do you think it will be ??...

"so the real test is the next match"... Yep FCK - AGF ... the real test for AGF and akeby too... may the best coach win...he he

I don't have a name, but in my mind it has to be a coach outside Scandinavian as Morten Olsen is the only Danish coach that can do a better job than Backe and as for Norway and Sweden I don't see any candidates.
Most coaches will go anywhere if the money are good and they need a proving ground. Look at Nevio Scala and Lothar Matthaus.

There was some rumours in the Swedish press about Åkeby and FCK, but they were pretty far fetched and I doubt that he would have joined AGF if FCK were really interested. I.e. we could offer him a lot more money.

I still think it was quite a scoop to get him as AGF coach...

I agree I think it was the smartest thing AGF have done in a very long time

Åkeby was named Swedish coach of the year 2002 as well.. so I dont think the The rumours was that far fetched .... However the problem was that Åkeby allready had told Djurgarden he was leaving the club at the end of this season, and he would hardly wait for FCK to sack his good friend Hans Backe so he could take his place...

I know AGF pay him about £100,000 a year (netto after paying 25% in taxes)... that's more than 3 times as much as he got in Djurgarden... and they were not able to give him a better offer in any of the other (Swedish) clubs... as usual the Danish 25% tax strikes again !!.... They are getting quite tired of this in the Swedish clubs and they have asked the Swedish government to get the same tax options...(They do have a 25% tax in Sweden as well, but only for a 6 month period and not for 3 years like in Norway and Denmark)

I don't mean it is far fetched in the sense he's a bad coach. It was just that how I remember reading it was something about Åkeby becoming Backes assistant until the summer where Backe would then become the Swedish national coach and Åkeby would then takeover. I simply have a hard time believing FCK management going for a deal like that or maybe that is why he went to AGF. One guy that knows it for sure is Åkeby :)

Royal League :
Now it should finally be a fact.... A Scandinavian league (to start in november next year) has been approved by the Swedish and Norwegian league clubs.... The problem was to get an approval from Rosenborg, but an agreement was made. In the original idea the four best teams in each league (Norway, Sweden and Denmark) would have to play in a Qualification group against each other, with only to teams qualifying for the Royal League = 2 Norwegian, 2 Swedish and 2 Danish teams. However, Rosenborg would not accept this, so this is how it will be :

The two best teams in Norway will face eg. the 3rd best team in the Danish league, and the 4th best team from Sweden.... in a Qualification group...
The two best teams in Sweden will face eg. the 3rd best team from Norway and the 4th best team from Denmark... in a Qualification group....
The two best teams in Denmark will face eg. the 3rd best team from Sweden and the 4th best team form Norway...in a Qualification group...

Then the two best teams from each group will qualify for the Royal League....Rosenborg allso asked that the winner of the "Royal League" gets a spot in the Europa Cup.... however, this is for different resons, not possible at the moment... so the clubs will play for prize money and the Scandinavian title only...

About the prize money : about 80% is from TV revenues = in the area of £5m the first season, then about £10m per season if the league is successful...however, the TV contracts are not signed yet... It will all be cleared up before the 1st December...

Old boys cup final (Aarhus Stadion) :
AGF - Lyngby 2-1
Attendance : 800

AGF got even by beating Lyngby and the Laudrup brothers 2-1 in the Danish old boys Cup final (Lyngby won the old boys Danish championship-final by beating AGF 4-1 a few days ago)... The two AGF goals was scored by Frank Pingel and the Lyngby goal by Flemming Christensen...Perhaps they are not as fast as they use to be, but I think it's allways fun to see this "parade" of "old" Danish football stars playing ....Some of the Lyngby old boys players:
Michael Laudrup (104 caps 37 goals) former Brøndby, Lazio, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid
Brian Laudrup (82 caps 21 goals), former Brøndby, Bayern M. , Milan, Rangers
Klaus Berggreen (46 caps 5 goals), former Pisa, Roma, Torino
Henrik Larsen (39 caps 5 goals) former Pisa, Aston Villa
John Helt (39 caps )
Bent Christensen (26 caps 8 goals) Schalke, Olympiakos
Torben Piechnik (15 caps), former FCK, Liverpool, AGF
Flemming Christensen (11 caps 2 goals)

Some of the AGF old boys players:
Flemming Povlsen (62 caps 21 goals), former Dortmund, PSV, Köln
Marc Rieper (61 caps 2 goals), former Celtic, West Ham
Bjørn Kristensen (20 caps 2 goals), former Newcastle, Portsmouth
Claus Thomsen (20 caps), former Ipswich, Everton
Frank Pingel (11 caps 5 goals), former 1860 München
Lars Lundkvist (10 caps 1 goal)
John Stampe (1 cap)

AaB to sign Djurgarden player:
Markus Karlsson the 31yo Swedish Djurgarden player, who just turned down an offer from the Dutch club Willem II worth £150,000 a year, is on his way to AaB Ålborg...it's the new Swedish coach in AaB (Erik Hamrén) who wants to sign Karlsson ... Djurgarden has confirmed the rumour...and Karlsson say he's ready to sign a contract with AaB if he gets the right offer...

Danish School Tournament (14-17 year-olds) 2003 final:

UC Nygard, Brøndby - Laursens Real, Aarhus 2-3
Attendance : 11,014

As you can see, the School Tournament is quite a big deal in Denmark. It has been going on for 42 years, televised on national TV2 (Live)...high attendance in the final... and a some quite good football...The big star of this highly entertaining and well played Final was Mathias Fischer, scoring two goals for Laursens Real (and 12 goals in the Tournament)...

11 000 people for school tournament final? Amazing. Is it some kind of custom or what?

It's tradition, but the entrance is also free :)

About the Nordic League I think it will be very hard on the Danish teams as they still have games in the Danish League for quite a while into the tournament and if, this a big if, one of them qualifies for the CL or goes far in the UEFA cup the schedual will be exhausting. But then that might mean that some of the fringe of talents gets more playing time against tough opponents. The other good thing about the Nordic League is that the long winter break with no league football will be smaller or filled with some matches and it will not be so boring as it is now :clap

I'm very postive about the idea and hope it will become reality, the biggest problem as I see it is the weather. It freaking cold in December in Denmark, but that is nothing compared to Sweden and Norway. Brrrr!!!!!!!!!!

On a little funny note:

PS&E or FCK mother company are bidding on the right to run/operate Atletion, the stadion where AGF plays and the indoor arena where Århus GF plays handball, in Århus along with the current caretaker, AGF and two foreign operators.

This is clearly a provocation from the chairman of FCK since FCK would be making money if AGF became more succesful or is he just trying to diversify ;)

"FCK mother company are bidding on the right to run/operate Atletion (Aarhus Stadion)"

Well I'm not taking it that serious.... It's all about AGF and Aarhus threatening each other to save/make som $$... Actually it was Aarhus who asked FCK to make a bid, because AGF was saying that perhaps they wouldnt make a bid... However, with FCK making an offer, AGF is "forced" to make a serious bid as well...it's all politics my friend....

Big Pete

It's a dangerous game to play since FCK might make the lowest bid and Aarhus will be forced to pick them.

A little off-toppic perhaps, but as I have written in some of the other forums...the new Chief Executive of UEFA Lars-Christer Olsson have a plan to change the UEFA rules in a dramatic way...to give the smaller and less wealthy leagues/clubs a better chance to compeat with the big wealthy clubs in the Europa Cup...

His plan is simply, that for any club to be allowed to play Europa Cup, they need to have at least 6 players in the team, who have got all their football education in the club (and have played in the club as young talents), ... this ofcause benefit eg. the big Dutch, Danish, Polish and other Scandinavian clubs...and it's not so good for eg. the scottish "old Firm".... or any of the big wealthy clubs in Europe, who at the moment dont care about working with young talents, but just buy their way to sucess, getting big foreign stars... keep on the good work Lars-Christer Olsson !...

I don`t see it work. The bigger clubs will opose forcefully and if the change wuld be accepted by uefa there is bound to be an alternative european cup created by the clubs with fewer trainees.
There aren`t so many teams which play with their treinees. Even in the countries you mantioned. There is a big rotation between the teams in a given country.

Unless this cup would be another, separate one for such teams. But I believe it isn`t the point.

Well... pyrtas..since Lars-Christer Olsson is Chief Executive of UEFA he has the power to "make" the clubs accept the change...if they like it or not...

Most of the Danish clubs have at least 6 players in the team who have got all their football education in the club.... actually, both FCK and Brøndby got 6 players like that in the team....If we take a look at FCK they got exactly 6 out of their 26 players this season: defenders Bo Svensson and Christian Traoré, Midtfielders Martin Bergvold, Christian Lønstrup and Hjalte Bo Nørgaard and forward Jesper Bech....

Danish Coach of the year 2002/2003 : Michael Laudrup (Brøndby)

Big Pete
Nov 24 2003, 10:44 AM
The crisis for FCK get bigger even though they played a lot better than usual, but that can't be so hard.
Brøndby looks to be running away and when FCK can't kill off AGF when leading 1-0 and having around 3-4 100% chances then FCK are not exactly making it more difficult for them. However, respect to AGF for staying in the match and playing the whole 90 minutes. Nice shot by Leon too bad we could have hit it like that against Italy in the U21 qualification matches. Maybe Denmark should switch to Nike balls

I'm actually glad that Michael Laudrup got Coach of the Year honors since I would have gone insane if Hans Backe had gotten them. However, maybe the more fair result would be Christian Andersen since leading a newly-promoted team with relatively few funds and big-name players to a 3rd place finish is a bit harder than leading Brøndby or FCK to 2nd and 1st place respectively

Come on pyrtas I've warned you :nono At least consult me before you do it again, because u know u will :USA_Blue U should have put some money on AB :woot

Well...Pyrtas... If you want put your money on danish teams you just need a little statistic service... as you see FCK is a much better team in away matches and so is Brøndby,Viborg and AB ??!.... FCN is crap in away matches and so is OB Odense ... However, watch out for AGF !, they use to be crap in away matches, but now they do much better since they got their new Swedish coach Åkeby !!... This man is simply brilliant !!..no wonder they choose him as Swedish "coach of the year" the past two years in a row... beating the "England" coach Sven-Goran Eriksson... and this year beat the Swedish national coaches Tommy Söderberg & Lars Lagerbäck !....

30/11 AGF - Herfølge 1

Well...It's time for the UEFA Cup....how are the the Danish clubs chances ??...Lets see :

Europa Cup 2003/2004 Round 2 :

FC København - RCD Mallorca (ESP) 1-2
FC Schalke 04 (GER) - Brøndby IF 2-1

RCD Mallorca (ESP) - FC København 70/30
Well...in the home match it was a poor playing FCK without some of their best players ...now they are going to face a Mallorca B-team in the return match, personally I think FCK could still win this if they do their best.... thou I only give them a 30% chance..

Brøndby IF - FC Schalke 04 (GER) 50/50
Schalke with the one-man army Mike Hanke played well against a poor playing Brøndby team ... However, if Brøndby do their usual solid preformance then I'm sure they will beat Schalke ....the chances?....still 50/50 I would say...

Europa Cup 2003/2004 Round 2 results :

Brøndby IF - FC Schalke 04(GER) 2 - 1 (Pen 3-1) first leg: 1-2
1-0: Andreas Jakobsson (pen) (15)
1-1: Victor Agali (55)
2-1: Mattias Jonson (70)
penalties:
3-1: Dan Johansen (121)
3-2: Sven Vermant (122)

4-2: Thomas Kahlenberg (125)
Anibal Matellan,Schalke missed pen (126)
5-2: Peter Foldgast (127)
Tomasz Hajto,Schalke missed pen (128)
Brøndby wins 3-1 on penalties (129)
Attendance: 25,817

As expected...or should I say as usual.. Brøndby eliminate a German team in the UEFA Cup... and as expected it was a 50/50 fight to the end.... It was probably the fact that Brøndby win week after week in the Danish leage versus a Schalke team that lose in the German league, that made the difference in the end... Brøndby simply had more self-confidence in the final penalty shoot-out... Congrats to Brøndby...

RCD Mallorca (ESP) - FC København 1-1 (first leg: 2-1)
1-0: Alejandro Campano (68)
1-1: Martin Albrechtsen (86)
Attendance: ??

FCK should have scored atleast 2-3 goals in the first half of this match against a poor Mallorca B-team...As usual FCK having several 100% chances but not being able to score...However, It's not usual to get 12-15 big goal opportunities in an away match against a Spanish team...even thou this was a B-team...with that in mind it's simply not good enough for a team like FCK not to win a match like this, but again FCK was not able to finish off their opponent ...It just show the lack of luck and self-confidence that haunts this FCK team..... Perhaps it's time to get a new coach ??....

BTW - M. Laudrup was yesterday chosen as best danish coach 2002 - 2003. Pretty well done considering it was his first season. :)

The fact that I am a fan of his team and him only makes it better.
Nr. 1 in the league with a nice record of 14-3-2 after 19 rounds.
And just qualified to round 3 in the Uefa Cup after Beating Schalke in a very close and intense match. :D
Hopefully Brøndby will get a nice draw for the third round...like Barcelona or something...Need to raise some extra funds to sign a new forward.
Dont expect Brøndby to get any further in the Cup. So they might as well get a good draw.

BTW U R doing a great job Ceres. Hope someone else than me bother to read it though :)

Their are some rumours flying around, as there always is come this time of year, about possible new signings for FCK.
Anders Svensson from Southampton is the hottest name right now and it might be that Martin Albrechtsen will be a part of an exchange. Also rumour has it that Swedish Jørgen Petterson is supposed to be put on the first train going back to Skåne, part of Sweden, as soon as the winter break commences.

Superliga results
6/12 - 2003:

FC Nordsjælland - AGF Aarhus 1-3
1-0: Denni Conteh (29)
1-1: Peter Graulund (68)
1-2: Tomasz Mazurkiewicz (71)
1-3: Peter Graulund (75)
Attendance: 1,526

A crappy first half from both teams ... FCN having controle of the match the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half...However, AGF playing some good football and scoring 3 great goals in the last 25 minutes of the match...The 27 yo former Superliga topscorer (2001) Peter Graulund (on loan from Bochum), scoring two of the goals and increasing his chances to get the contract with AGF he wish for, so he do not have to return to Germany in a few weeks...

7/12 - 2003:

AaB Aalborg - Brøndby 1-1
0-1: Jonas Kamper (23)
1-1: Christian Lundberg (70)
Attendance: 10,315

AaB being the better team in this match creating most of the goal opportunities, especially in the first half, thou Brøndby being the team scoring a goal... Brøndby playing much better in the 2nd half. However, AaB getting a well deserved 1-1 result...Now AaB can look forward to the winter break , finally getting their new Swedish coach Erik Hamrén (former Örgryte)...

FC København - AB København 3-1
0-1: Jesper Falck (13)
1-1: Peter Christiansen (pen) (28)
2-1: Alvaro Santos (65)
3-1: Thomas Røll Larsen (87)
Attendance: 18,399

Once again some great football from FCK. and once again Alvaro santos being the "man of the match" .... AB ..well.. hopless behind, not having much hope to "survive" in the Danish Superliga...

Esbjerg - OB Odense 3-3
1-0: Jan Kristiansen (10)
2-0: Jakob Poulsen (32)
2-1: Kjetil Pedersen (Own goal) (44)
2-2: Steffen Højer (48)
3-2: Tommy Bechmann (49)
3-3: Søren Berg (74)
Attendance: 6,877

Herfølge - Viborg 0-1
0-1: Christian Keller (35)
Attendance: 1,243

FC Midtjylland - Frem 3-3

Its time for a Winter break... Brøndby have almost looked invincible at the top of the league so far, and having success on the European stage beating Schalke in the UEFA Cup round 2.... Both Brøndby and Esbjerg seems to need a winter break to recooperate. The defending champions FC København thou, would probably rather play the last 13 league matches right now and skip the break, since they are just starting to play well...Especially the star-forward Alvaro Santos seems like he has just found his form at the end of the autumn round... Even thou FCK have had some trouble this autumn they are not hopeless behind, and since they are out of the European competition they can focus on the last 13 league matches ....

Good goal by Mazurkiewicz who played a good game and I think he's going to be one of the players that is going to benefit a lot from Åkeby's system.

About FCK, they didn't play all that wonderful when looking at the kind of opponent they were facing. However, they finally managed to close the game, but still are using to many big chances to score goals.

At the end of the autumn round.... The superliga coaches choose who they think are the best players so far this season.... top 5 :

1. Tommy Bechmann (DEN U21, Forward), Esbjerg (30 votes)
2. Andreas Jakobsson (SWE, Defender), Brøndby (27 votes)
3. Thomas Kahlenberg (DEN U21, Midtfielder), Brøndby (20 votes)
3. Mwape Miti (Zambia, forward), OB Odense (20 votes)
5. Peter Nielsen (DEN, Midtfielder), FC København (19 votes)
5. Morten Wieghorst (DEN, Midtfielder), Brøndby (19 votes)

The players have chosen Morten Wieghorst as their favorite Superliga player of 2003.... talent of the year (for the 2nd year in a row !) goes to the U21 midtfielder Thomas Kahlenberg , Brøndby..... The forward Rajko Lekic (Silkeborg, 18 goals in 17 matches so far this season) was chosen as the best player from the Danish Division 1.

The FC København forward Jörgen Pettersson (SWE 27 caps, 8 goals), has been given a free transfer by FCK...and signed a contract with the Swedish club Landskrona BoIS... The former Mönchengladbach and Kaiserslautern player was never the big sucess that FCK had hoped he would be... hopefully, FCK can find better use of his wages (£270,000 a year), getting a much better player...

FCK surely need to find some new players since one of their very best players, the team-engine, midtfielder Peter Nielsen has retired... and perhaps midtfielder Erik Mykland (NOR) will retire very soon... leaving a big gap in midtfield..

Transfers/Transfer rumours:
The 27-yo AGF topscorer Peter Graulund (on loan from Bochum),did not get a contract with AGF, so he has returned to Germany ... AGF need 3 new players according to coach Soren Åkeby... and thou Graulund is topscorer for the club this season, Åkeby was not sure that he would be the type of player needed in a 4-3-3 system, with that in mind the Bochum player was to expensive to keep...

The rumour is that the players AGF want are : The big talent 20-yo defender Frank Hansen (DEN U21-team),Ølstykke... 34-yo midtfielder Stig Tøfting (DEN 41 caps, 2 goals) ,more than a rumour actually..on top of Åkeby's "wanted list".. I would say 90% chance he will sign a contract with AGF... two other players on Åkeby's wanted list are the former Barnsley player, 31-yo Peter Markstedt(SWE),Hammarby... and the 20-yo Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson, Östers IF...

More superliga rumours are that the former top-scorer in the Swedish league, 25-yo Fredrik Berglund (SWE 3 caps) wants to leave Roda and sign a contract with Esbjerg...and that FCK is trying to sign the 21-yo Djurgården star-midtfielder Kim Källström (SWE 14 caps, 1 goal)...the price tag : £1½m for the Djurgården star player...

Stig Tøfting is actually still quite good... The only reson he's not in the Danish national team is because he quit after the WC 2002 finals... Then he kind of took a "break" from football, signing a ½ year contract with a club in china giving him a shitload of $$ ... now he's wanted by AGF ...and FCK it seems !? ... However, he's from Aarhus (former AGF player) and he wants to play for his old club...

If FCK gets Kallstrom...it will be the biggest scoop in years... according to all the Swedish fans I have asked , he's a bigger name in Sweden than Zlatan Ibrahimovic ....

Yes I'm 99% sure... and now it's on the Rennes homepage :

http://www.rennes.maville.com/actu/Detail.asp?idDOC=110527&idCLA=46

If you dont speak French, this is roughly what it says:

The negotiations between the Stade de Rennes and the Swede Kim Källström continue actively. They are about to succeed, if it is not already done. After having discussed with the club Djurgarden IF, the Breton leaders sought to convince the player who, accompanied by his agent Roger Ljung and his lawyer, was present yesterday in Rennes in order to visit the club. A contract of 3½ years awaits.....

I don't really understand why 2 young highly-rated Swedish players, Alexander Farnerud and Kim Källström, are heading to average/mediocre French sides like Strasbourg and Rennes. Of course the wages are better, but still the clubs have no exposure on the European scene and they'll be playing for mid-table positions.

Ceres and friends,

What do you think are the chances of Panathinaikos players Henriksen and Mikaelsen to follow the Danish NT to portugal?

Henriksen has been a real gem in the PAO defence all these years (except after he returned very tired from the last World Cup). Immenselly experienced also. Mikaelsen in not as good IMO but still a reliable second solution for any team.

What signals do you get for the choices of your NT manager up to now, If any?

Cheers...

Former Danish international Stig Tøfting has agreed to rejoin AGF Århus, the club where he began his career.

Free transfer
The 34-year-old midfield player, whose contract will start on 1 February 2004 and run until summer 2005, has signed for the Superligaen side on a free transfer from Chinese outfit Tianjin TEDA, where he has played for the past four months. Tøfting previously spent four months in prison after an incident in a Copenhagen restaurant.

Henriksen and Mikaelsen to follow the Danish NT to portugal? :
To be quite honest.... Rene Henriksen looks like he's getting slower with age, and playing for the NT he's consistently hung out to dry. Like the Danish EMS Football Magazine (TIPS-Bladet) most people in Denmark see him and Ebbe Sand as the weak spot in the NT. However, National coach Morten Olsen got an almost nostalgic partiality for old, once-great players. Sand was the star forward for his club Schalke and the NT up untill about two years ago. In more than one year he has only scored 1 goal for the NT (12/10-2002 against Luxembourg)..+ 2 goals in a friendly against my club AGF .... Knowing Morten Olsen quite well, I'm 110% sure both Henriksen, Sand and Mikaelsen will follow the Danish NT to Portugal...unless ofcause they get injured...

Stig Tøfting and the tragedy's :
Most Danes sympathize with Stig Tøfting because of the tragedy's he has suffered..When he was 13 yo, Tøfting found his parents dead at home after an apparent murder-suicide...thou hit by this personal tragedy he struggled on to be one of the best Danish midfielders...Then he suffered another personal tragedy after his 22 day-old son died of meningitis...About him spending four months in prison after an incident (head-butting) with a pair of restaurant workers at a Copenhagen restaurant during a night out with NT-mates...first of all ...the two people involved accepted Stig's apology and dropped the charges...so no case...Then why was he convicted ??..

Well..In Denmark the police can make a case without people making charges if they find that they have the evidence to do so....However, that never happen unless it's a famous person, then they make an example by taking them to court...if he had not been a famous star player...he would never have gone to prison...and he would not even have got a fine since charges were dropped by the other two people...He got four month in prison...Not all that fair I think, since justice should be blind...but well..now he's a free man...By the way I'm sure Stig Tøfting would follow the Danish NT to Portugal if he wanted to play for the NT...Stig is still one of the very best Danish midtfielders...

About Stig Tøfting signing with AGF Aarhus:
He Says -"I'm proud to wear the AGF jersey once again. Ther's no other club I would rather play for ..I was always sure, that it was to be AGF. You could say I'm finaly back home"..He rejects that he was ever close to signing with FC København...He missed his family and wanted to return to his house in Hørning (Aarhus).."I really missed them (his wife and two children). Now I can focus 100% on playing football for AGF the next 1½ years, and at the same time take good care of my kids. This is perfect for me" Tøfting says.....

That would make more sense in my mind too, but maybe they can't compete with regards to the wages. Still however playing in Rennes fighting relegation can't be too cool either. Silberbauer is a good player, but was also a bit overpriced previously. Danish newspaper BT are estimating around 7 million DKK

__________________________________________________ _______________
I would surely choose Källström (SWE 14 caps, 1 goal) over Silberbauer (DEN 1 cap) ...even with the £1½m price tag ...thou Silberbauer in my wiew was AaB's best player...Last year AaB said that they would never sell him for less than DKK 20 million and I would say that he's surely worth the DKK 9 million ( AaB was expecting a DKK 9m deficit this season, now they say it will be a nice 0... so I still estimate that they got the £800,000 for Silberbauer).....

I'm sure FCK hoped to get both Källström and Stig (the lawn mower) Tøfting... since the rumour is that Erik Mykland will retire soon... (It seems that he is selling his house in Copenhagen, so I guess he's on his way home to Norway).... I have seen that some FCK fans are glad FCK didnt get "the lawn mower" Tøfting because they think he may be "over the hill".... About, Stig Tøfting, I think the main reason for many FCK fans opposing him as a FCK player is that at 34 he is not exactly a replacement, for 35 year old Peter Nielsen, with much perspective. FCK would have to replace him again in a year or two tops. I'm sure Mykland is leaving this summer since his contract runs out and he has problems with his achilles and that doesn't exactly make you want to play more.

CeresRoyal
Dec 21 2003, 01:39 PM
Well ...you never know.. at that age players tend to get injured alot..However, Tøfting is a tough guy just like 35 year-old Brian Steen Nielsen who is playing one of his best seasons in many years...or like the midfielder Jan Heintze (Born 17/8-63) who played his last International for Denmark at the WC 2002 finals (6/6-02 against Senegal) almost 39 year-old....Tøfting got an option in his contract with AGF, that if he playes 45 matches, his contract is automaticly extended one more year... so he do expect to play for AGF 2½ years (and not only the 1½ years), if he dosnt get injured alot...

The 22 year-old star forward Afonso Alves (Brazil), owned by Atletico Mineiro (but on loan to the Swedish League club Örgryte) is wanted by several clubs....Both Schalke and Bordeaux have shown great interest, but not yet made an offer. However, Örgryte, Malmö FF, Rosenborg ?, AaB Ålborg, Brøndby and FC København are all trying to sign Afonso... The most likely to get him are Brøndby or FCK (He was seen in Copenhagen yesterday)....

Thou Afonso Alves is an Atletico-player, Örgryte gets 25% of the transfer if he's sold before April 1. 2004 (according to their loan agreement) ... However, his club Atletico Mineiro are in deep financial trouble and need to sell him right away...They hope to get around £800,000 for the star forward... Afonso Alves have scored 23 goals in 39 games for Örgryte in the Swedish league ...

Both Örgryte and AIK Stockholm are eager to sign Örgryte's other Atletico Mineiro forward, 24 year-old Paulinho Guara (Brazil), who has scored 14 goals in 25 matches for Örgryte in the Swedish league this season...

Danish Player of the year 2003 (named by the players from the Danish Superliga, Division 1. and Division 2.) :

Morten Wieghorst, Brøndby

Congrats to the 32 year-old Brøndby player and Danish International midfielder ...

Morten Wieghorst received the award dressed in Kilt to salute his Scottish friends. When Wieghorst played for Celtic he was rushed to hospital, struck down by the debilitating and life-threatening brain illness Guilainn-Barre Syndrome (This syndrome is a illness which attacks the nerve ends and consists of paralysis of many of the body's muscles.)...

However, receiving literally hundreds of cards, letters and e-mails as well as flowers from his fans and receiving full support from Celtic Football Club, he struggled out of intensive care, and against all odds he recovered from the illness, to play few League Cup games towards the end of his last season at Celtic...He decided not to accept the club's offer of a year's extension to his contract and Michael Laudrup (Brøndby) took a chance signing him on a free transfer...and since then he has proven to be Brøndby's most influential player...and proven his worth in the national team....

The other players nominated for the Danish Player of the year 2003 award :
Thomas Gravesen (Everton), Jesper Grønkjær (Chelsea), Peter Nielsen (FC København) and Thomas Kahlenberg (Brøndby).

Well....most Danes think Dennis Rommedahl is overrated....Like Peter Løvenkrands he's not even sure to be playing for the Danish NT at the moment..

Morten Wieghorst ( Brøndby), Thomas Gravesen (Everton) and Jesper Grønkjær (Chelsea) are all key-players in the NT...Thomas Kahlenberg (Brøndby) is a big U21 star.... you could ask....why not Jon Dahl Tomasson (Milan) or Martin Jørgensen (Udinese) ??.... both are doing quite well in Serie A, at the moment ...

Jon Dahl Tomasson (Milan) got the "Danish Player of the year" award 2002..(being 3rd at the WC-02 finals topscorers list with 4 goals in 4 games)..but didnt do that well 6-7 month ago...Martin Jørgensen (Udinese) was injured alot, but is doing quite well playing for the Danish NT and with Udinese in the Italian League...

I don`t know what is going on but heard somewhere that Bronby are likely to give the uefa cup game to Barcelona without even playing it.
Apparently it has something to do with players strike or something.
Ceres - is there any truth in it?

Well...It's true.... The Player's Union demand better insurance for all the Superliga players, free transfers (when the contract expires) for all talents younger than 23...and a few other things...If they dont get what they want, they go on strike...

The Superliga clubs have refused all the demands, and they did try to lock-out the players just before the Winter break...The laubor court postponed the case to January 18. If the League clubs "win" the case (the lock-out is declared legal), then the players will go on strike/be lock-outed from January 21.... However, if the players "win" a part of the dispute, the case/conflict will be postponed untill March 1....

In Denmark the Union's are strong, so I'm sure ther will be a conflict if the League clubs dont give in to most of the demands... If the lock-out starts January 21, then Brøndby are in deep sheisse...ofcause they will lose all the match profit's when they have to cancel the Barcelona match....then they will probably be disqualified and fined by UEFA (£25,000)....and in "worse case scenario" even be disqualified for the next season's Champions League/UEFA cup matches....Thou I dont think that will happen in this case ... Denmark usually dont make this/any kind of trouble and are a respected member of UEFA...

At first i didnt know what this was all about, since ther have been absolutly nothing in the Danish media about this..(not even on the Brøndby homepage !).. But seeing that this is about the Danish talent Dennis Cagara I can only repeat what I have written in the German Football forum :

Well..."Danish teenage sensation" is perhaps stretching the truth a bit to far...ok...he's only 18...(almost 19, since his born march 14 - 1985) and have played 2 matches for the Danish Under-21 squad, he played 7 superliga matches in the season 2002/03... I wouldnt name him among the 15 most talented young players (18-22 year-olds) in the Danish League...

The Danish ESM* Football Magazine TIPS-Bladet just named the 100 best players in the Danish league so far this season and he's not among them either...so thou he a talented player with a big potential for the future, I dont see how he could be some kind of a "savior" for Hertha Berlin ....

Transfers/rumours:
Selling the Danish U21 star midtfielder Michael Silberbauer to FCK has made the AaB Ålborg supporters furious... AaB has promised the new coach Erik Hamrén, that AaB will get 2-3 new players... thou they wont reveal any names, the former AGF and Brøndby midfielder Mads Jørgensen, Ancona (brother to the danish international Martin Jørgensen), is on the AaB wanted list...according to the Swedish newspaper Expressen, so is the 23 year-old Swedish IFK Göteborg midfielder Martin Ericsson.... However, at lot of clubs are trying to sign "success-Martin"... to name a few : Grasshoppers... and Djurgården, who thinks he got the quality to be the replacement for Kim Källström....

The in Denmark totaly unknown 24 year-old Danish striker Ole Budtz (Cercle Brugge)...is on his way to either Frem or AB københavn....Ole Budtz was topscorer in the Belgium Division 2. in his first season for Cercle Brugge...and has scored 56 goals for the club the past 3 seasons....However he's not happy with the club promising him a pay-rise he newer got...

FC Midtjylland got their new head coach Erik Rasmussen yesterday . (former division 2 coach for Næstved) ...

Well...he's unknown in Denmark because Cercle Brugge got him from "Danmarksserien" (he was topscorer in Danmarksserien)....that would be like the English Conference Leage...and since ther's a shitload of Danish players in foreign leagues, it is easy for some of them to be totally unknown in Denmark....

I dont remember who was the top scorer in the Danish Division 1 last season...but I know that it's the forward Rajko Lekic (Silkeborg, 18 goals in 17 matches so far this season) he was chosen as the best player from the Danish Division 1. this season and he's at the top of the AGF wanted list....

Since the Swedish AGF coach has decided only to make his players do physical training, not getting near a ball for the next month !, the Division 1 club AC Horsens was invited to participate in this League Indoor-tournament...Doing very well I may add....

The two star players of the Group games, showing outstanding technique and dribbling skills, Mohamed Zidan (FC Midtjylland), scoring 5 goals in this tournament and to much surprise Simon Elbæk Jensen (AC Horsens)...Making the Division 1 team AC Horsens and FC Midtjylland + OB Odense the favorite teams to reach the finals, showing some first class football.....

However, all the favorites got eliminated in the QF's, and in the end AaB Ålborg won the Tournament beating the home team Brøndby + they (AaB) won the BT Cheerleaders Cup (4th time in a row !) with GF Sisters (AGF) on the 2nd spot....

Goalkeeper Karim Zaza (Brøndby) was named as "player of the tournament", showing some first class goalkeeping....Too bad that he can't play for the Danish NT since he once played a match for Morocco... Now he has given up on persuing this aim...and finally accepted to play for the Morocco NT in the future....

Transfers/rumours:

Is Henrik Larsson (Celtic) on his way to Brøndby ??

According to the Swedish newspaper EXPRESSEN, Henrik Larsson (Celtic) deny any rumours that he has signed a contract with any club...Larsson says..-"Ther is no truth to this....I was at a friends house, looking at football on Skysport when I saw that Sir Bobby had said, that I had already signed with another club, I was totally put out. I was thinking, What is this ??...Neither me or my Agent (Rob Jansen) have in any case talked with Newcastle. It's strange that some one else than me should know more about my own future."

He also deny that FC Barcelona should be in the race. He says -" We have not had any negotiations with any club. I dont know where I'm going to play next season. That's the truth of the day."....According to onside.dk and EXPRESSEN it's still a posibility that Henrik Larsson is on his way to the Danish Superliga club Brøndby.... "The big advantage by going to Denmark (Copenhagen) is ofcause, that I only have to pay 25% in taxes. At the same time I can commute back and forth to Helsingborg." says Henrik Larsson to EXPRESSEN.

I don`t believe that. Larsson will not be respected if not proven his abilities in a better league.
England sounds the best for him and given that he`d earn there the most he will probabably end up in the Premiership.
Anyway - woukld be sensation if he joined Brondby. How much can they afford to pay him?

Looking at his latest remarks...he's either going to England or Denmark.... as you say he's tempted by the Premiership... on the other hand, a move to the Premiership at his age, could end up as a big mistake... and he will soon be going home to Sweden anyway... so a year or two in the Danish league with Brøndby could be a good idea... and I think he's a personal friend of Morten Wieghorst (Brøndby)...

How much can they afford to pay him?... Thats hard to say... but my guess is that they would not offer him more than £400,000 net a year (the net sum after paying taxes) ........

Is that £400k net (the net sum after paying taxes) ??.... I've seen in a Danish newspaper that FC København may soon try to find some bigger stars if they dont qualify for the Champions League... then they are ready to go as high as £680k net a year (the net sum after paying taxes)....thou I dont think Brøndby are able to pay that much...

well...Larsson is a Scandinavian, I'm sure he thinks more about his family than how much $$ he can get... so i think he will let his family decide if he shall move to the Premiership... or return to Sweden, with him playing in Denmark...
