Sunday 28th November
4pm Kick Off

I think VDV will be back for this so a strong midfield should be available.
We need to be tight on Torres who seems to have found some form of late, other than that, I'm pretty confident.

Official Team News
Harry Redknapp rates Rafa van der Vaart's chances as '50-50, at best' to face Liverpool on Sunday.
The Dutch playmaker picked up an injury just above his anke in Saturday's 3-2 win against Arsenal and that ruled him out of Wednesday's Champions League victory over Werder Bremen.
Jermaine Jenas is Harry's other main doubt after limping off early against Werder Bremen with a calf problem.
"Rafa's chances are 50-50, at best," reported Harry on Friday morning (November 26).
"He's not going to train with us today, so tomorow is really the last chance for him to be fit.
"We did okay though on Wednesday night, played with two strikers and always looked dangerous.
"Jermain Defoe is also getting fit and he will be involved again. If Rafa's fit, great, but he's doubtful.
"JJ has a tight calf and he's going for a scan today. We're all hoping it's not a tear, we'll have to wait and see on that one."
Good news sees Michael Dawson return to full training with the first team this morning.
Ledley King (groin) remains out alongside longer-term injuries Jonathan Woodgate (groin) and Jamie O'Hara (back).

Harry Redknapp is in no doubt that Liverpool are serious contenders for a place in the Premier League's top four this season.
Our Champions League qualification in 2009/10 came as a result of replacing the Reds among the country's elite with a fourth placed finish.
And it has not been the best of starts to the current campaign for a side now managed by Roy Hodgson, who travel to the Lane on Sunday.
But they currently sit just three points behind us in the table having lost just once in their last six league games, with a convincing 3-0 win over West Ham last time out.
And although captain Steven Gerrard will miss the game through injury, Harry has highlighted a seemingly back-on-form Fernando Torres as one of the main reasons why the Merseysiders could end up being back amongst the big boys come the end of the season.
However, he hopes we can carry on our run of having beaten Liverpool in our last three meetings at the Lane.
The manager said: "We have a tough game on Sunday. Liverpool are just starting to play well and Roy is getting them to play the way he wants them to play.
"I still think they are a big threat to finish in the top four. Torres is back and looking sharp and scoring goals.
"We've beaten Liverpool in the last couple of years at home but Roy's had a chance to work with them and they will get stronger."
Harry may have a job on his hands bringing the team back down to earth after a memorable week in which we followed a dramatic North London derby win last weekend with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen on Wednesday to seal our qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
But the manager has warned that victories in the big domestic games are a must if we want to continue experiencing nights like that at the Lane.
He added: "The Premier League has to be our main focus if we want Champions League football again next year. The only other way is to win the Champions League, and that will be very difficult.
"We've had a couple of great wins this week but we can finish the week off in style if we can beat Liverpool."

Well **** me sideways.
Did we deserve that? No.
Did we play well? Not even nearly.
Is Palacios worthy of mentioning? Dont be daft.
Do we need a striker in january? Yes.
Should we count ourselves lucky? Hell yeah.
Am I happy with the result? Not really, no.
So why am I not happy with the result? Because I like to play to win and win well. What positive have we to take from that game? Jack, absolutely **** all. Ok, ok, so its three points and much needed but that cannot disguise the performance we put it. If we were Liverpool, we'd be walking away feeling extremely hard done by.
The midfield, what a joke. Bale was hardly in the game yet was given so much space but no one picked him up and was aware of it. Instead, they ran at a crowded middle of the park and lost the ball. Modric, whilst he gave it his all he was running it on his own and was one of those who decided to run at players rather than use the space and attack. Palacios, do I need to waste time and energy typing about how poor he was? We looked lost in the middle of the park all game, couldnt win it nor pass to a white shirt. So frustrating.

I absolutely ****in love football.
I disagree with you kirstie, I thought we were the better team over the 90 mins but was a very even game, we coulda played better but we grinded out a result and that's what good teams do. If it weren't for the professional fouls liverpool kept making then it could have been a lot more. I'll make a proper post when I'm home.
Palacios is dog****.

I can forgive palacios if his passing is off and he's not having a good game. But when he starts bottling 50/50s, which is what he's on the pitch for, then he pisses me off. He's lost it and I don't wanna see him near the starting lineup next game

Top teams have the ability to grind out results even when not playing well. How many times have we seen Liverpool, United, Arsenal do this over the season. Well, now we're starting to learn how to do it too. Signs we're developing a top team mentality? Win at all costs. We have a nice little run going at the moment. Yeah, we'd love to win all our games by playing superbly but the players are human and have offdays.
I agree Palacios was atrocious and yes we need another striker. But in the meantime, in the last 9 days we've beaten Arsenal on their turf, beaten Liverpool (whether we deserved it or not I don't care, only that we did it.) And we qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League. A poor performance today isn't going to worry me, especially since we won. Right now I'm a happy little Spurs fan!

I don't want to see Palacios on the pitch anymore. Let Sandro play in that spot. Wilson has obviously, obviously lost it, I don't know what it will take for him to get it back - or if he even can.
That said, I have to agree with EarZ, 3 points are 3 points. It may not have been pretty, or ideal, but grinding it out and winning like this is what good teams do over the course of a season, and I'm over the moon with the result. Liverpool have been playing well and gotten themselves back into or at least nearabouts to the picture in the top 6, and this puts space between us and them and draws us closer to the top. Every point counts, and winning 3 like this in a tough game is something good teams do.
I was going nuts after Lennon's finisher.

Nov 28 2010, 04:26 PM
Right, yes, 3 points are 3 points and dont get me wrong of course I'm made up that we have all 3 in the bag but that DOES NOT disguise parts of the game that need improving.
Just because you win it doesnt mean you have to write off the parts of the game that werent to the standard you expect/want.

Palacios was atrocious in the first half I thought, but those fans jeering him didn't help anything whatsoever. Did get better and him and Luka were a lot better in second half. I didn't think Gallas was good either although I just saw Harry praise him. Wasn't impressed by your defence at all really.
Have absolutely no idea why Jermain Defoe is still taking your penalties either, he's rotten at them.

I understand your points, but to be fair, with squad rotation and midweek games not everything is going to run like clockwork. I only worry about trends and I don;t see anything too awry with Spurs at the moment. Perhaps the season will catch up with your players at some point ala Villa last year, and so getting any games out of your poorer players like Palacious and still winning would actually be a real positive - for me at least. Still a long way to go in the season and all credit to Liverpool too when they continued to try to win the game.
