Gio Van Bronckhorst joins the long list of Scottish football casualties in The Premiership. He was easily the best central midfielder Rangers had a few years ago. After shambolic performances for Arsenal they've cut their losses and given him away to Barcelona. Think about it Barry.

Ferguson will fit in well with the Premiership set up and prove that he is a quality midfielder. The guy can't be blamed for realising that Scottish footbal is tosh. I'm not a Gers man, far from it, I'm Jags through and through but the guy is defineley a talent and hopefully will prove that Scotland can still produce a few decent ones. (Well maybe 1)
I don't think it's that Van Bronckhurst is crap, it is Barcelona he's going to after all and he just wants first-team football which is quite difficult at Arsenal. He'll do well in Spain.

GVB is quality but appearances were limited due to Arsenal having a strong midfield. Then he got injured and that didnt help....
Barca will be a good move for him and hopefully itll earn him a move eventually.
I remember he was actually a good player at Rangers, but i never saw him play at Arsenal, guess it just didn't work out for him, but he does seem injury prone.

I remember him ffrom Feyenoord and he was really good wing-back then, I thought then that he would make an impact on Dutch national team.

Yeah I know Ross but I tought then that he will become a cornerstone of their defence and would also score goals cause he was such a offensive wing-back.

v.Bronckhorst played good at Arsenal until his injury, after he came back from his injury he hardly got a chance anymore since Gilberto was purchased, playing good at first and therefor preferred over GvB.. But v.Bronckhorst did do well before he got his long injury..

He did suffer a terrible injury. If he rehabs fully and gets regular games at Barca I think he'll be ready for Euro 2004 with Holland :clap

Van Craphorst did not do well in his first season at Arsenal. He came on as a sub a few times for the first team. He was injured 3 years ago. He has fully recovered. After he recovered he followed the same pattern of being either a sub or being in the reserves. He did not get a game at Arsenal because he was not good enough. When Arsene Wenger realised he was getting old and feeble he punted him to Barcelona. My only surprise is that Rangers did not resign him and pay him £50,000 a week. He would have played a blinder against Charlie Miller on Saturday.

in his first year he became a starting player and he played really well in midfield. Than he got injured and after he came back he didn't get a real chance as a midfielder anymore, since Gilberto was purchased and doing well.. He only got to play as leftback sometimes, but obviously ashley cole is better at leftback than gvb..

excuse me? I never remember him being a regular for arse. not even regular on the bench.. to me he has not played much nor good.
*Jere rushes out to stat room*
So he was bought summer 2001 and in his first season he had 16 starts and 17 subs (for comparison Parlour had 26 starts and 14 subs). The next season he had 14 starts and 17 subs (Ray 18/10).
He has played surprisingly many games, but hardly a regular.
