FC Barcelona and Sevilla CF have reached an agreement for the transfer of Adriano Correia that will see the Brazilian move to Camp Nou for an initial fee of €9.5 million and a conditional €4 million extra.

The deal depends on the utility star passing a medical at Barça and the signing of his contract. Adriano will arrive in Barcelona on Saturday in order to undergo a series of tests.

Swapping places

Adriano is set to become the second signing of the summer after David Villa made the switch from Valencia before the World Cup Finals. The 25-year-old has shone during his six seasons at Sevilla as he proved that he can play in a variety of positions.

Different positions

Able to play in either full-back position Adriano can also push forward and perform on the left or right of midfield and has even proven his worth in the centre. His vision and desire to help out in attack has won him many admirers and made him a regular in a Sevilla side that has enjoyed winning several major honours in the past few seasons.

Alves again

At Barça next term Adriano will team up once again with former Sevilla colleague Dani Alves. The pair spent four seasons together at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán winning the UEFA Cup twice, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup and the European Super Cup.

I think this is a great signinig, Adriano can play left and right since he's left and right footed, he can sub in for Abidal, Maxwel, Alves, in the back or foe Keita and Busi in midfield. he is only 26 so this should keep him at the club for at least 4 years, maybe his best 4 years ever.

Not a particular fave of mine but he's a good multi purpose player (can play defence or midefield and is totally equal with both feet!).

So this is why they never flinched when they got rid of Yaya eh? Clever b*stards. Plus Rosell likes Brazillians

Adriano is a player that can be well used at any team, he can be played in a minimun of 4 positions which is great based on our injury rate in the past 2 seasons...Welcome Adriano...Visca Barca...

Great, cheers!

Looks like we have almost everything in place to do well next year. Its going to be fascinating to see how we cope esp with Mourinho anti-football this time round....

Seems like a good signing. People have been calling for a backup for Alves so Puyol doesn't have to get out there everytime. His versatility also is a huge plus and probably means he'll get a good amount of time.

very surprising signing since he was not linked to barca but i think he will be useful.

Yeah, I rate him and think its a good move. In fact, I got confused cause I already thought he was ours, but that may be because I bought him in my PES master league mode.

in any case, probably a "natural" purchase for us that will fit in quite well IMO.

must say im surprised by the signing. hopefully he can step in and do a job for us. i dont see him doing well as a winger in our 4-3-3 tbh, not to the standard we need, but as a backup wing back he could be ok.

ive read that adriano is to possibly push abidal for the starting left back spot. that could work. because otherwise i think this is a really puzzling signing. good player but a much better fit in a 4-4-2 where he can play left mid or left back rather than left wing. he could start at left back or backup right back for us i suppose. what happens to abidal/maxwell now? we certainly dont need 3 left backs...

Good player but i think you don't need him , a CB or a DM would make more sense .
