i am getting fed up of people calling the english league the best. lets face it we arent as good technically as the spanish, german, or italian and why are people always suprised when clubs abroad beat our teams easily?
This was shown by arsenal getting a footballing lesson against deportivo last week when everybody thought they were unbeatable at highbury. it doesnt suprise me at all.

Italian and Spanish yeah!! But German no where near our standards!!! Only Bayern are as good if not better!!

I agree with this.

German league is not really that good. Something between Nationwide and Premier.. of course top German teams are better than Leicester, Blackburn.. etc. But the German game is not entertaining at all.

Eurogoals shows some dutch/french games and they are good. You can also see french sides in the Uefa Cup. They are ok.

after the ones i listed its all pretty poor and similar, maybe belgium is ok, but most top players leave these countires to play abroad

The strongest league at the moment is the Spanish, the English and Italian aren't far behind. The good thing is all three are having their closest title races in years.

How come you lot think Spain is better than our League!! The play is not as physical the atmosphere is dead the speed of play is so slow!! Not compared to our gritty 100% commitment sweaty hard men booting each other all over. I think if we all lived in Spain we would want our League just like the Premier!!

some say Spanish league is slower. The reason is becaues they have more selfish players who try and dribble the ball all the time - as others watch by. That´s why the ball does not move as fastly as in some Premier games (long ball is a fast ball). The game is not as direct, hence maybe slower.

But it should also be noted that ALL the players in Spain have some ball control and technique. The game is prittier and fancier. Beautiful fakes, passes, dribbles.. less long balls. They have no Nevilles or Battys there. They have ball handling. Touch. Imagination.

Look it like this: top team in Spain has strikers like Raul, Tristan, Kluivert.. Premier top teams got Viduka, Smith, Shearer, Heskey. They got Figo/ZZ/Valeron/Enrique. Premier got Parlour, Beckham, Izzet, Robert Lee :eek

I watched Barca-Real on Saturday. Maybe it was the importance of the game or something, but it was not a top Spanish game. They made lots of errors and misstimed passes etc.

But they also had some fabulous passes (ZZ has some vision!!) and good plays on the ground. Raul is the best! (Figo was injured, didn´t play).

The other negative thing - they go down easily. Divers like Chelsea. In british footy I love the effort, when they try to stay up and go after the ball after every challenge.. the emotions are important. But they got some spanish emotions and mentality in the games as well :) Gotta love that.

Also mate may be a bit over the top but that may be another reason why we dont win anything(England) because you look at Argentian etc everytime they get the slightest touch they are down on the floor and 6/7 times out of 10 they are within range to cross/shoot where we like to act solid and honest!! But what do we get for that??NOTHING! When you have got a rep like ZZ and he comes up against Phil Neville if he breathes out of line the ref will award ZZ Luis Figo Raul the free kick!!! What u think????

I agree again mate and i just used ZZ as a example although i do think Figo can be a bit of a cheat!! I think we do need to pick these pointers off the Spanish/Italians to be able to compete as they will take full advantage of out honesty which would get on my nerves more than anything ever!!!!! I would love it if we won the world cup and everyone who we beat tried to cheat us!! Lets give as much as we take!!

the major league in america is absolutely awful, technically the sapnish and italian league are far better than the english league. how many world class players ahve left those leagues to play in Britain. one VERON. theyy dont leave because our league is not as good as theirs.

the spanish league is so much better technically it hurts, we cant cope with their ability.

yeh if we put the spanish sides in the Prem we would have our best sides pushed down, but turn the tables and our best sides would only be 4th/5th I feel...

but Liverpool would prob do best out of the teams, but I'd say we are getting better as a whole with 3/2 teams in the 1/4s over the last 2 yrs and with 4 teams in next yr we could do even better

The Spanish might be this....The Italians that, but British footy is the best to watch.
I have tried watching other leagues but always return back to the UK.

I just watched Leed-ManU till Giggs´ goal..

ManU game is a beauty to watch - they are so fast and precise. Their awareness: they know excatly where players are and put fast through balls.. dangerous.

But Leeds defence is rubbish!!! Pathetic. Ridiculous. Woodgate, go home - there´s a game on.
