Yes, the same player who has hardly kicked a ball for two years following his £4million move from Everton to Rangers. The forgotten man with a dodgy knee who quite a few thought would never play again and, even if he did, would break down after the first crunching tackle.
However, Ball has more than proved the cynics wrong. In Rangers Summer matches & opeing league game he was simply outstanding, both in defence and in his pinpoint passes down the left wings.
The England left-back position has been difficult to fill in recent years and hasnt been held down regularly since the days of Stuart Pearce. Wayne Bridge looks like he might be around the Squad for a few years but theres little else in the way of choice on the left side.
If Ball can stay fit he would be an excellent addition to the International set-up either as an out-and-out left-back or as a defensive midfielder on the left-side.
Ive seen him play 4 times this year and hes improving all the time. Clearly after so long out getting fully match fit will take time but theres no doubting the quality he has to offer.
With England lacking quality on the left-side, hes well worth a chance I think.
