after we secured Cl qualification , it is time to get back to liga matches , and with a match against espaniol in catalan derby , espaniol have lost the last 4 matches the last was 4-0 at home against racing and they are without tamudo and delapina for injury but it was the same sitiation last season when they played nasty football and the ref helped them to when 2-1 , i hope we can defeat them this time and take advantage of their bad position , with messi injury i have a feeling that pep will play like this

alves - pique - chygry - abidal

xavi - yaya - iniesta

pedro - ibra - henry

I will never forget that loss last season. I can't beleive how fvcked up that ref was, that was the worst game of last season not because of barca' performance but Espanyol's, just like Malaga tried against us this season.

But noone can forget Yaya's amazing goal in that game. He has to start in this game please!!!!!!!

We shouldn't let Espanyol's recent form fool us, we all know what they are capable of doing in desperate measures. The up side though, Pep will definetly drill into the players that this is a must win for us, because Madrid meet Valencia and so forth.

ok, Busquets had a good performance against Kiev, I think its best if we give him a rest and bring in Yaya just for the fact that he can demolish any sort of scheme the espanyol players will try to pool, and alow Iniesta to finally play in midfield, thus also giving Henry some time as LW.

i too agree Yaya should play. i think Pep needs to sit down and talk to the guy....or maybe he already is.

anyway, Espanyol is a big game as always and in this circumstances it's a must win.

If my memory is correct, when we lost to Espanyol they were last on the ladder or atleast in the relegation zone. So this weekend will not at all be easy

true but they had just changed managers too. this time, the manager is in trouble, the defense is leaking goals and they are missing players.

Their president won't be attending the game and the police is on high alert because of the clash

maybe that's why he having those blunders now. He's getting them out of the way for this game.

Yes, for this season there are just 1 or 2 more left.
He also has a quota of tremendous saves as the one he did to CRonalda94M... and he's keeping them for the last rounds of the CL... :cool

Messi21
Dec 10 2009, 11:21 PM
Last season he only had two, and they were both within the same week, just like this year. Hopefully 2 is his magic number per season and they are over until next season.

dont know why i have this feeling that vv will make another mistake in espaniol match like he did last season. like all knoe espaniol will play 10 man denfence , i dont know what is the bestway to unlock this defense without messi , i hope ibra improve since he sucked against kiev.

Big of a blow that Messi is definitely out for this game. Also said hes doubtful for the world club cup semi final :(

to be fair though, espanol have been absolutely sh*te this season so even without him we should win comfortably.

Hope ibra puts in a better game, last 2 games i think hes been rather poor.

barca should be prepared since espaniol might try the same way they did last season when they forced our players to be stressed , an early goal would open the game but if we dont score early it will be tough.

Don't forget we also won them 3-2 in the Cup, it was a very clear 3-0 and in just 2 isolated and lucky shots they got a 3-2.

My prediction: easy victory, 4-1, two goals by Ibracadabra, 1 by Pedro and 1 by Henry.

BTW, Barça have set a new record today, first 15 league games without any loss, only Terry Venables's Barça in 1984-85 did the same.
We only lost 2 games that season, against Hércules and Athletic Club, I believe one of them was in the 16th day.

terrible way to win. but we'll take it.

game could have easily gone the other way though and gotta be careful cause we're not at our best right now.

MOTM - Puyol or Ibra.

they need a breather. 3 away games in a row and now flights to Kiev, back to Barcelona and now off to the Middle east to play again on wed. lol these guys should be life support. Good thing Messi didn't play against those clowns.

yep, they would have kicked out at him for sure. but yeah, its a lot of games. I still think we might be a little short on attacking talent. Ibra can't be playing so much either. Henry and Bojan - TBH just not good enough at this time. Pedro has done well, which is a plus but we need another danger man in attack IMO.

Crap game really. Looked decent the first half but got really boring in the 2nd. Terrible penalty call and surprising to see Xavi take a fall. But, these are the garbage wins you gotta get throughout the year, especially with their recent schedule.

I missed the game, but a win is a win, no matter how good we were last season too, we still had results like these to keep us buzzing.

Dec 13 2009, 04:06 AM
not a good display for barca especially in the second half , our defence was shaky especially pique who i dont know why his form is like this these days it seems he needs a vacation to rest , i hope pep rest him in the coming fifa world cup matches , ibra was great in creating chances but henry and pedro did not assist him that much , the stupid espaniol players started to do exactly what they did in the last match by falling down and faking injury to stress our players but thank god the ref was good , anyway the important was the 3 points , it was bad that real won.

keep it classy people. No need to attack people's moms.

As for the pk, even Pep seemed to think that Xavi lost his balance and his reaction to the whistle was more like of what was the whistle for.
