I dunno about everyone else but I feel very confident about us winning any shootout that stands in the way with Capello making us fearless again. But I wonder who would take one other than the 5 I mentioned below?

Barry, Gerrard, Lampard and now Rooney are designated takers for their clubs, Ashley Cole has been competent from the spot in a few shootouts for club and country. Anyone else in the squad with a good track record from the spot?

Hargreaves took a few good pens in the past.

Whether we can deliver on the day is a total different story. You can take pens as many times as you want in training but whether they work on the day is a whole different story. They're the biggest lottery in football and in the end it boils down to what frame of mind the player is in.

gerrard, lampard, and beckham all missed vs portugal

i would have never expected them to miss

its different in a high pressure situation, but yeah, you have many good pen takers

I always remember what Mourinho said after 2006. It was something like when you have Gerrard and Lampard miss, players who can do it week in, week out from the spot, you know it's not your day.

It's a different time and day back then. Capello has sucked the fear out of the players and made them look invincible. Something the predecessors have never done before.

It's all well and good now, put them in the situation and I can see the old psychology of we can't win penalties come flooding back.

Don't matter what Capello has taught them, when it comes to the moment it's just themselves and what their head is saying to them. Knowing our players like we do they'll stumble and fall because of our history in them situations.
