Well, in a survey made by a newspaper, 6 out of every 10 "socis" want a change and are keen to vote for Sandro Rosell, who is the best considered among all the possible candidates.
You got these 2 news, where there are some interesting graphics and charts in several PDF files.

I am afraid Sandro Rosell is going to be the next president of FC Barcelona, in fact I am afraid about that since several seasons ago.
I fear him a little bit, he's capable to slowly destroy all we got right now, and I'm not sure if he really wants Guardiola's continuity or not... only time will tell.
By the way, there is a 0.8% of "socis" who are madridistas... :ninja or is it because by average there's a 0.8% of stupid people in the world???

my choice would be for Ferran Sorriano but I think he is smart enough not to run.
Never was a fan of Rosell. What kind of Cule releases a tell all book during a season. Hopefully he doesn't implode the team and sign us brazilians left and right and then keep giving them new deals every season. They guy bends wherever the winds blows and actually said it was bad business to sell Ronaldinho lol

I hate Laporta at times in the past but now I tend to agree, cant the rules but re-written or something for him to stay on :laugh

No, Laporta changed the rules himself. He has had some flaws but compared to the last 2 presidents we had since the late 70's, he has done everything right in making this club a top club. No bitching with the top players after signing them, no bickering with the managers and most importantly, trying to do what's best for the club - not himself and the VP's.

^Agreed, he's done great job for the club and I'll be sad to see him go. The next guy has a hell of a lot to live up to

Dec 3 2009, 01:46 PM
Well the next guy will have to worry about trophies. Laporta won twice as much as the other president combined when it came to champions league and won the league faster than Nunez (took him to the mid 80's to win his first league while Gaspart won nothing)
The other things can be done if acts well and is not boorish like Gaspart was.

Now he's going into politics right? From what I heard people blame him for that, using Barcelona as a tool for a political career.

He might run for Mayor but don't think he was using the club as his launching pad till after the first CL was won.

So just the speech with prof Gay lol.
So when is he supposed to make his presentation. Wednesday, Friday, next week, next month. Supposedly, he wants to sign Torres. Why? Does Pep really want that?

That's what you get with Rosell, shoot from the hip without thinking of the consequences. Too trigger happy for me and worry how he and pep will co-exist, if Pep sticks around.

He's one of those kind of people who pretend to be popular to get what they want, and once they get it... it's another story.
A bit later he declared he wanted Pep to become FCB's "Ferguson", another "popular" claim, but I don't know if Pep wants to be with him.
Do you imagine Pep wins the league again and he says he remains only with the "continuista" group???

Dec 5 2009, 02:52 PM
No, Pep won't do that, but I can imagine him not getting along too well with Rosell. I have the same opinion as you both, IBES and Xagasi, on Rosell. I wouldn't be too sure that he'll be the next president though. Remember that Laporta was not even the favorite in 2003. It was Bassat, but the last week of the campaign the majority of socis decided that Laporta was going to be the next president. I think Soriano would be a very good president since he is a very sensible and rational person. And seems a nice guy too.

I remember a poll made by Mundo Deportivo a month or 2 before the elections where they phoned 500 "socis" and none of them was going to vote for Laporta, he had a 0% of votes that day in that survey, while Lluís Bassat had around 65-75%.
But then the TV "tertulias" (debates) came in BTV and TV3 and Bassat was really poor, not very motivated and talkative cause he wrongly thought he had it all won, while Laporta kicked all the other candidates' asses, he had the best speech by far, and he announced he had an agreement with Man Utd for Beckham.
BTW, do you remember who was going to take current Txiki's position if Bassat had won??? someone called Pep Guardiola... :)

They guy is a first class cvnt. Has anyone seen that youtube video of him dancing in the club after the Real game? (first of all what 'swanky' club plays Coldplay records) He is an embarassment and when he is gone Barca will grow.

And beat RM 2-16 at their home.

Well since the elections are going to be a big topic for the next few months, we have already had some candidates.
VP Juame Ferrer announced he is going to run for Prez. Looks like the other VP Godall might also run.
Still waiting on the worst kept secret Rosell to announce his candidacy.
Another candidate is Jaume Guixà.
Also there is talk that maybe Rexach will run :ninja
You can follow it there on this blog - http://barcaelections2010.blogspot.com/ -
I still don't like Rosell but think he might win it

New rumours, Pep doesn't renew cause his relation with Laporta is not as good as it was, and he does not want to be used in the elections by any part.

this is a false rumour since pep is in good relation with laporta.

this is a false rumour since pep is in good relation with laporta.
Not since he thanked Evarist Murtra after winning last FIFA WC.
They have a good relationship but there are some recent things about Guardiola that look like if he didn't want to support the "continuist" candidates, or not be used by them, cause there could be 2 different candidates.
It's all a bit messed up right now and Pep is too clever not to make any mistake.

Well, in that sense Guardiola can't complain, he wanted Ibra and Chygry and he got them.
I believe it's more about the mess in the "continuist" candidates, he does not want to be used by any of them, nor by Rosell.
He pretends to be neutral.

How can Pep not have a preference in who the next president is? There must be one or the other that he thinks would benefit Barca more than the other so why doesnt he say so?

Yep, that's one point, and the other is that he thinks he still can be our coach no matter who wins the elections.
If he clearly positions in favor of any of them, what happens if he loses???
I believe that for the interest of the entity, it's better he doesn't get involved and he's our coach in 2010-11 season too, either with Rosell, Soriano, Godall...

Hmm that makes sense. But if he decides not to come back next year, like some sources are saying, then do you expect him to endorse a candidate then?

Think he is going to be tight lipped till someone is elected. If he doesn't like what he sees, then he will leave and not re-sign. Playing it safe and close to his heart.
Say Pep says vote for this guy and then they disagree and he doesn't renew, then Pep can leave and the president looks like an ass and the fans will feel like they voted for a guy that Pep wanted but now thinks he is no longer good
