WOT EXACTLY DOES THIS MEAN???
Laporta acepta vender a Puyol
“El Barça está obligado a escuchar ofertas. Otra cosa es que nos interesen”
Vicenç Ribas / IBIZA
09/08/03 21:14 h.

Joan Laporta visited the "peñistas" (habitants??) natives of ibiza yesterday and took advantage of to speak on the interest of the Manchester United in Carles Puyol. The seat of the Blaugrana Rock Santa Eulària DES Riu was the scene where Laporta did not deny the possibility of a crossing: "At first, to sell to Puyol it is not our intention. But we are open to listen to supplies ".
Next, it extended this idea to all the areas of the organization since, according to the president, "in Barcelona, at the moment is nobody essential one, as much at sport level as in general within the club". However, it wanted to differentiate between taking care of a supply and making it effective: "the Barça is forced to listen to supplies. Another thing is that they interest to us ". Laporta also wanted to make clear that the group not yet is closed and that the profile of the reinforcements is defined. "If we'll buy more players", affirmed, "will be a central defender and a lateral one, that are what the trainer has requested to us". In any case, the maximum azulgrana agent chief executive is conscious that the market, at this point of the preseason, "is very complicated. It will be necessary to see if we found those players within which we have thought to spend ". The defense, then, continues being the line to reinforce
Basically says Laporta says that no player is indispensable to Barcelona, and due to their financial position they may be force to listen to offers for him

In my opinion it means that if someone will offer LOTS of money they will sell him.
But how much is LOTS of money?

for Barca "lots" won't be that much
concidering they're in huge debths, they'll think 1 million is a lot (I agree tho, I would like 1 million on my bankaccount ;) but that's another story :P) :laugh
Barcelona have said that Manchester United do want to sign defender Carlos Puyol.
But the Catalan giants insist that the Spain international is not for sale and say United have yet to make an official bid for the 25-year-old.
However, cash-strapped Barcelona do accept that they have to listen to offers for their top players as they battle debts of £116 million.
"There is no deal," Barca press secretary Juanho Castillo said. "United are interested in the player but we are not interested in selling him.
"However we will always listen to any offers that are made. No-one at the club wants him to go but everyone is available if the offer is good enough."
Sir Alex Ferguson has turned his attention to right back or centre back Puyol after defenders Laurent Blanc and David May left in the summer and Gary Neville and Wes Brown were ruled out of the start of the season with injuries.
Barca coach Frank Rijkaard was forced to slap a "hands off" notice on Puyol amid reports of an imminent £14 million bid from United.
A transfer was given further credence when Puyol revealed he would join United if it helped to clear some of the debts at Barcelona.
Castillo says Barca will have to wait and see if United make a formal bid for Puyol but conceded the Catalan giants would be loathe to let the Nou Camp crowd favourite depart.
"We don't want him to go, he is one of the best players in the team, a first-class professional which he would have to be for Manchester United to be interested in him," Castillo added.
"No offer has been made, just an enquiry so we will have to wait to see what happens now."
