All these decades without a left footed top class left winger and now Alex Henshall - Swindon Town has turned up. He's very quick of the mark for a whitey, very skillful, seems a good crosser and has a sharp footballing brain.
While I'm on, it would be remiss of me not to mention West Ham's Mattias Fanimo. He played only 8 minutes last year for England u16s and didn't really do anything to speak of, but my expert eagle eye detected he might be a top talent. It has turned out to be the case. Although he made quite a lot of mistakes his ability to dribble at pace is outstanding.
With the talented England u17 side being short on quality wingers I'd been thinking this years u16s might unearth one who could be promoted after Christmas in the quest to win the Euro Title.
He's arrived.
But obviously too late for Capello's 2010 World Cup challenge.
(England u16s 1 Wales 0)
