David Moyes has signed a four-year deal to become Everton manager after The Blues agreed a £1million compensation package with Preston North End.
Moyes, who succeeds the sacked Walter Smith, has agreed to take up the challenge of the relegation-haunted Merseyside club and will oversee his first match against Fulham at the weekend.
The club have called a 7.15pm press conference where Moyes will be presented before the media, after a day of talks with the Goodison Park board.
Moyes himself agreed personal terms with Everton yesterday night, and The Toffees spent today attempting to agree on a suitable compensation package with North End.
However, after hours of negotiations - which at one point saw Preston withdraw permission for the Scotsman to move to Everton - Moyes was confirmed as the new Blues boss.
A statement from the Deepdale club read: "The board of Preston North End can confirm that after protracted but amicable discussions over the last two days, an agreement has been reached with Everton football club.
"Everton have agreed a compensation package of a guaranteed £1million to take David Moyes to Goodison Park. A further amount will be payable if Everton retain Premiership status."
North End's chief executive Tony Scholes added: "Whilst our preference would have been for David to remain as our manager it would not have been right to have stood in his way once he made it clear he wanted to go to Everton.
"We have reached a very good settlement and I am glad that we reached an amicable solution in a civilised manner.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank David for all his hard work in the past four years. We all wish him every success in the future and I am sure he will do a good job for Everton as he has done for us."
