Ajax and Nikos Machlas have come to an agreement to terminate his contract. He is a free player now..
I hope Nikos can find himself a nice club and get his old form back a little.. :) For us it's good he's gone since he had a big salary, which we don't have to pay anymore now. A shame tho that we aren't going to get any money for him, even tho we paid about 9 million Euro's for him.. :(

Don't know or he'll find easily a new club, he didn't perform well since he's at Ajax.

yes, was it 21 million gulden? Than it's even close to 10 million Euro's what we paid for him... 1 euro = 2.20371--> 2.20 Gulden.. ;)

Yes, I think his wage would be more then the rest of our squad together. ;)

Machlas wasn't good enough anymore, that's why Koeman didn't want him anymore..

Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have been boosted by the news their Greek striker Nikos Machlas made up with coach Ronald Koeman. The two men fell apart after Machlas was told on Saturday he was not in the Ajax squad to face PSV in the Johan Cruyff challenge. Machlas immediately left the club's premises and failed to report for training. He has now had a "chat" with Koeman but remains behind Ibrahimovic and Mido in the pecking order. Machlas is also free to leave if a valid offer is submitted to Ajax.
;)
and then it happened again i think....

nope, after that it was OK.. :)
Machlas just wasn't good enough anymore, sadly enough he couldn't even score in the matches he played with the reserves. That's why Ajax loaned him out, not only cause Zlatan and Mido were preferred, but also cause he wasn't good enough anymore. I guess if the Mido-affair had happened earlier, he would've stayed as the 2nd striker..
Machlas was one of my favourites, a shame he couldn't do what he did at Vitesse.. :( But good luck to him, I hope he has some good years in Greece to end his career.. :)

i didnt wanted machlas to leave the club but since koeman is there and he thinks the youth is the answer for the future but why not keep some of the experienced players

as I explained, Machlas just wasn't good enough anymore mate.. he wasn't even scoring in the reserves anymore.. There was no other option than to let him go..

Nah, they didn't.. Winter and Machlas simply weren't good enough anymore. Machlas scored quite some important goals in the year we became champion.. but as a starting player he always disappointed.. And as I said, he didn't even score in the reserves anymore, last week the reserves played some amateur side.. Johnny Heitinga, defender, just back from injury, managed to score 3 goals, Machlas couldn't score.. :( Says enough I think.. I liked him, but he wasn't good enough anymore.. :nono
As for Witschge.. He still had an acceptable level and maybe he should've gotten a new contract.. but Koeman prefered the younger players, like Sneijder and Maxwell. That is a good choice I think.. they are the future, they should get the chance, letting youngsters on the bench aint going to help them, it only stops their development. Witschge was in the way of their development, that's why he didn't get a new contract. He wasn't too bad, but simply the younger players were preffered and that's only sensible.. they need to develop..

nope...alright if you say thats true...than why bother signing those players and let people like winter play with sparta and such....its unacceptable. i dont think its good to treat players like that.

When Winter was signed, Ajax was in the middle of the worst period in Ajax's history.. ;) When he was signed, v/d Vaart, Maxwell, Litmanen, Pienaar and Sneijder weren't around.. ;) We didn't have any better players than.. ;)
He wasn't treated bad by Ajax, only when Adriaanse was around, who treated Winter, Witschge and v.Halst awful, but Koeman brought them back to the first team. Gave them some chances, v.Halst became important for the team in the year we won the title. Winter played sometimes, but not much tho.. just cause other players were better... what's wrong with that than? At least Koeman got him out of "kleedkamer 2"! He even got to play a CL match with Ajax last year.. but near the winter break Koeman told him it was better for him to quit.. Other players were preferred and Koeman told him honestly.. Ajax offered him a job somewhere inside the club.. And he's suppose to get a goodbye match.. dunno when tho.. Anyway, Ajax threated him good.. only in Adriaanse's period Winter wasn't..
