REAL MADRID president Florentino Perez has stated his intention to buy a big name English player, with Michael Owen rumoured to be his preferred option.
In the last two summers, Perez has captured two of the world`s greatest talents, in the form of Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane, and it appears he plans to continue that policy.

"Our strategy at this club is to incorporate one of the world's top players every year," he told the News of the World.

"Geographical considerations are taken into account. With the signing of Zidane many French people and Arabs became Real Madrid fans. Now I would like to sign an English star.

"In England there are two great players - Owen and Beckham. However, Beckham plays in the same position as Luis Figo

Real are being greedy - I donīt see why they need Owen? They got Raul, who has similar game and more skills (less injuries). There is no logic. Real also got goal scoring leader Morientes.

I understand why Real want Vieira, because Vieira would impove their midfield by replacing Makelele/Helguera. But Owen?! Please..

Like Jere said Owen and Raul have similar games, i dont rate Morientes highly so i think Real will replace him with Shevchenko he has an all round game and would be a better signing

But Morientes has scored more goals than any Real player?!
He can not be that bad..

I think Milan can hold on to Schev - they are a big club. They are not Leicester, you know..

i thought Raul has scored more goals Morientes is always injured he dont have chance to score goals lol

Milan have to sell a lot of their squad to pay off debts ans Shevchenko would be a good offload on a money side of things
