IF you could make up a Portuguese National soccer team consistin of only Portuguese players that play in Portugal what would it look like? This means no Rui Costa, No Figo, no Conceicao, no Pauleta, no xavier and no Nuno Gomes.

Umm, I was Curious to know wether there are good enough Portuguese players playing in Portugal to compete well in the WOrld Cup, and we should try and hold to these players because it could only do good for the league! But i think it will be impossible to hold onto Quaresma in years to come, i dont mind that players do go abroad though, it can only furhter develop them as world class atletes, would Figo be as good as he is if he had stayed at Sporting and not experienced playing @ Barca and Real? Thats hard to answer but i think moving to spain has made him a better player.

If the Portuguese league was more competetive like the Italian league then there wouldnt be a need for our Home growns to leave, how many italian are ambitious about going to Spain/France/England and leaving Italy...not too many. Why? Because the Italian league Pays well, Its competetive and prob the best league in the world.

Now, if the Portuguese league was at the level of Spain, then we would have it made, Players wouldnt want to go abroad but rather fight to keep their spot against players that strive to enter the Portuguese League, that desire to be in the Portuguese League.

The way the league is at the moment, the stupid refs, the bad management by clubs, the lack of money in clubs either than the big 4, corruption, small attendances makes me think that the Portuguese league wont be at Spains level in the next 10 years.

10 years ago i wondered where the Portuguese league would be.......havent moved much if you think about it, probably backwards.

Portuguese league was rank n-7 in the World a jump of ten places from 2000 . Here are the ranks
1. Spain
2. England
3. Italy
4. Germany
5. Argentina
6. Brazil
7. Portugal

Portugal jump ahead of France, Holland, Scotland etc.
With 10 new stadiums expect Portugal to be in the top 5.
