View Full Version : Makaay set for Munich

Bayern Munich's hopes of capturing Roy Makaay received a boost on Monday when the Dutch striker's agent claimed the Deportivo La Coruna man would like to play at the Olympiastadion.
Bayern are among a host of clubs, including Barcelona, who are chasing Makaay, and the Dutchman's agent Rob Jansen said the Germans are the only club to have tabled an offer.
"Bayern is the club which Roy would like to play for," Jansen told German sports magazine Kicker. "That is the sole club which has made an offer. We have nothing official from Barcelona."
The European Golden Boot winner scored his 29th La Liga goal of the season at the weekend as Depor ended the campaign with a 2-1 win over Espanyol to clinch a third-placed finish.
Makaay is reluctant to be drawn on his future, and he said after the win over Espanyol: "No one knows whether this was my last match for Deportivo. I have a contract for two years and I will see what happens in the summer."
Deportivo president Cesar Lendoiro has denied Bayern have made an offer, however, and has tried to try to play down speculation linking Makaay with a move away from the club.
He said: "Makaay is not for sale. I know that among others FC Bayern are interested in the player, but we have not received any official offer."

Makaay is now on top of his career, now its only down drom here. It does not pay up. But ofcourse, Rummenige&Backenbauer dont want quality players, that we need(at moment none). They want a star, with wich they can lift up contract revenues.
I doubt he´ll go to bayern or barcelona. More likely is in every case Valencia, also offering 13m€ cash.

MADRID, July 12 (Reuters) - Deportivo Coruna's Dutch international striker Roy Makaay says he hopes the Spanish side will agree terms with German champions Bayern Munich so that he can join a side capable of winning the European Cup.
Makaay, who was top scorer in the first division last season with 29 goals, has said he does not intend to renew his contract with Deportivo when it expires in two years and expects the club to cash in by selling him before next season.
"I don't want to let this opportunity pass me by," he told Radio Voz in an interview
Depor's Makaay: I won't let Bayern Munich chance slip
- July 13, 2003
Deportivo La Coruna striker Roy Makaay admits he is desperate to join Bayern Munich.
The two clubs are still haggling over a transfer fee for the Dutchman, who said: "After Real Madrid, Bayern Munich is the greatest team in Europe.
"Now, if I can play for one of the great teams of the world, I do not want to let that chance escape.
"Surely the two clubs can reach a satisfactory agreement. It is very flattering that Bayern Munich want to sign me."

Ultimo offer-18m€ for Makaay. Salihamidzic will not be sold in any case, Hitzfeld said, that if Deportivo would like him they should gave hem Maakay and 30m€. Nocase, Jose!!!! Also Salihamidzic talked about loyalty that Bayern extended contract untill 2006 eventhall he had his knee(left-right-ligaments??) for 2nd time, in the past also, wasnt known if he could walk. Bayern and Hasan are both happy with currenty situation, also he´s a good player, and what goes for confidence in him is that; he succesfully score from penalty area in CL final with Valencia.

Bayern Munich have encountered some stiff and unexpected competition in their bid to prise Roy Makaay away from Deportivo La Coruna in the form of mega-rich English capital club Chelsea.
The Blues' appearance on the scene couldn't have come at a worse time for the German giants. They seemed to be making slow but steady headway in convincing Depor to lower their valuation of the Dutch international striker, who was this season's European Golden Boot winner after scoring a sensational 29 goals in La Liga.
According to reports, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic has no qualms about handing €21m over to the Spanish side for the 28-year-old now that it looks very unlikely that Patrick Kluivert will be leaving Barcelona.

What are you English? I´m slovenian. Our land was also occupied durring 2nd world war, also we had comunism later and i´m over that. Whay arent you, you probably had better conditions as we in Jugoslavia??? People forgive, but dont forget. So why cant you just let it pass???
Other thing; english clubs porheaps have more traditions, more clubs than german. But you have suche stars in your national team and can even make it to semifinals. Or even worse to loose in semifinals European Championship ´96 by penalties at home???? or that german team has only 2 stars(Kahn, Ballack), one is most hated guy after Bush, other is pretty much good velcomed abroad. And they came to WC final??
Let us stop!!!
Makaay said, Bayern is porheaps 2nd club behind real Madrid, but you are wright premiership League is better than german, but Bayern is better club than Chealse&Tottenham&Arsenal together(looking to home championships won, european cups won etc........

ALSO... JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I DONT HAVE THE ATTITUDE THAT GERMANS SUCK... I LIVE IN GERMANY... ALTHO I MUST SAY THE ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP IS BETTER THAN THE BUNDESLIGA... BUT THATS JUST BECAUSE OF MY INTEREST IN CHELSEA AND THE FACT THAT I AM ENGLISH REALLY... IF I SUPPORTED A GERMAN TEAM I AM SURE I WOULD FIND THE BUNDESLIGA BETTER!!!

24th July 2003 -- Several Spanish sources claim that a transfer of Roy Makaay to German champions Bayern Munich is almost done. For example, "Marca" claims that only small issues have to be resolved for Makaay to became a player of Bayern within some days. The newspaper claims that on Tuesday both parties came closer together, as Deportivo lowered their asking price while Bayern eventually made a bid of 21 million Euro.
Deportivo had asked 25 million Euro for a transfer some weeks ago. But according to Eduardo López 'Beci' (technical director of Deportivo), a deal is near. "The negotiations are on again and we have come closer", he said. Beci also made clear that a deal can be done at any moment, with the possibility of Makaay heading to Munich today or tomorrow.
Roy Makaay and Irureta were both informed by Beci that a deal is very near. The Basque coach had mentioned before that his preference was to keep both Makaay and Tristán. But now he's faced with the departure of his topscorer.
For their part, the German directors had insisted on their initial offer of 15 million Euro, only later to be increased to 18 million Euro. But as Deportivo president Lendoiro didn't want to sell Makaay for this price, it seems that Bayern Munich again came with a better bid of 21 million Euro. While the clubs are negotiation, Makaay himself keeps being silent about the topic.
German news say the deal is perfect.

Ard bought the TV wrights to cower the bundesliga for german audience, they had a guest in studio, the show was called Sportschau(whats going to be with last year Sat1 RAN???). The guest was Uli Hoeness, he said 18m€ was just media nonseunce, they said 15m€ is the last. But they are still willing to coroporate, they will raise the ofer to 16m€...
I mean, while real madrid, Barca, Arsenal are spending bounch of money on players bayern could get Makaay for as little as 16m€. Sometimes is good to be a german club. They know if you say 15m€ you wont say 20m€ next moment...
Also Chelsea has not presented any written offer, so it seems Bayern is the only one that is interested in buying him,... :laugh

Elber, Pizzaro, Santa Cruz, Misinovic, Zickler, thats 5 strikers!!!
As i see we should let go Zickler, he doesnt get many chances, also a lot of time he´s injured, he´s 29!!!!
Santa Cruz is still injured, cant be our main striker!!!
Pizzaro is going to stay, while Elber is going to go after this season.
I reckon if he doesnt come, we could still give Gerero or Semler a chance. Also trochowski can play as an attacker.
Makaay is usefull player, but if doesnt come, we wont be total failure, but since Elber is going to go, better to go after Makaay now, if we wait another year Deportivo can bump the price up next year,...

Zickler is injured for the next 6 months.
Santa Cruz is often injured, too.
Elber will be moving to Spain or Turkey next season.
Misimovic is talented but not yet ready for the first team.
So there is only Pizarro and I hope he and Makaay will be the forwards in the game at Hannover next weekend.

04.08.2003 | The protracted transfer negotiations over Roy Makaay are at an end, and Bayern have got heir man. The German champions' board of directors, headed by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Uli Hoeneß and Karl Hopfner, agreed a deal to sign the Dutch marksman in a late Monday evening telephone conference with Deportivo La Coruna President César Lendoiro.
The prolific striker is expected in Munich for a medical on Tuesday, after which he will put his name to a four-year contract. Neither side was prepared to reveal details of the fee involved.
If the formalities are completed on time, Makaay is in line for his Bayern debut in Saturday's Bundesliga visit to Hanover 96.
The deal ends a drawn-out saga which began even before the end of last term. Bayern initially seemed well-placed to land the internationally admired frontman, but La Coruna's reluctance to agree a fee had thrown the transfer into jeopardy over the last few days. But Monday's agreement means another truly world-class player for the Munich squad as the 2001 Champions League winners prepare for another assault on the European crown this year.

ah the Dutch league is crap.. Only Ajax and Psv are good, feyenoord is reasonable and the others are ¢rap.. most try to play nice attacking football tho, but just don't have the material to play it properly.. :(
I don't think the German league is near the 3 mentioned, the German topteams just don't have the same material Italian, English and Spains topteams have.. although Bayern Munich has the power/money to bring in decent material..

Elber scored 132 goals in 253 Bundesliga-games since 1994. As far as I know he had different problems with some brazilian national coach so he played only 15 times. A second point that he doesn't play like a "normal" brazilian, he has a passable technic but not a good one like other brazilian forwards.

But still, he´s the best foreign goalscorer in the bundesliga, or is he also the best(none scored more??)...
By my judgement we should play with Makaay and Pizarro in attack, Elber would come later in as a sub, since Pizza is in superb form,...
