Maybe when he fully proves himself. He was sh!te a few weeks back and a few goals recently IMO doesn't mean he should be picked ahead of the likes of Defoe, Rooney and Owen. 4th striker for sure but to start I don't think so ATM. He'll get his chance this summer but if he was to be a prominent fixture in the set up just lets see how he starts next season.

In terms of pure footballing ability, he's one of the best in the country. A superb target man who can play the clever pass from a deep position as well.

But his injury record is becoming horrendous. He needs to play more. But then again, despite that I'd still have him in the England squad ahead of Crouch and Heskey. Possibly Defoe as well.

England don't have a great choice of strikers to choose from, and Ashton when fit is probably the third best in the pecking order. Can't see any reason for not giving him a chance unless he injures himself.

ashton is a quality player, and should be in a squad of 4 strikers, never mind 5.
