National technical director Gerard Houllier on Thursday urged rising French stars Samir Nasri, Karim Benzema and Hatem Ben Arfa to resist the lure of foreign clubs.

"Nasri, Ben Arfa and Benzema are being selected in the best French teams. They are therefore in the best conditions to develop their game, progress and make that step up.

"They must stay and get more confidence into their game, assert their qualities and achieve things.

"And leaving Ligue 1 shouldn't just be a question of money. You must be professional in your approach to leaving. Going abroad must be motivated by the desire to assert your potential, your play."

Totally agree with him and I'm glad that most German players elect to stay and don't go abroad at a young age only for the money (Gomez, Kießling, Merte).
I acknowledge of course that young French players are more thought after but still both Kießling and Gomez had offers from EPL and Seria A clubs and decided to not go.

I definitely agree with him, they should take their time. They have all the time in the world. Also, I think Gomez may join Roma next season. They are suposedly very interested in him and he's "exactly" what they need. I'm happy with Germans staying in Germany also, but I wouldn't mind a few leaving (besides LAHM).

Maybe Roma need him but I don't see him joining them.
He'll stay in Stuttgart and if he leaves one time in two or three years he'll only leave to Spain or a top EPL club.

He's half Spanish (from Valencia I think) so he'll pop off to Spain in a year or two.

Or he'll join the rest of the bench warmers at Bayern.

Exactly. Gomez will not go to Italy. IF he leaves, he'll join a club in Spain, thats for sure. He said that he wont leave in the summer, so i take it he'll stay at least another season. :drinkbeerHe's got a contract til 2011 which means we'll get at least big cash for him!

You can bet your ass off that he wont go to Bayern. I've never been so sure about something in my whole life. Gomez is Swabian through and through, he wouldt dare to join them IMO.

arghhhhhhh :ninja thats true!! ****!

About Houlliers quotes. I absolutely agree with what he says. It's the best for young players to develop at their clubs and only leave when they're a bit more experienced.

I agree with Houlliers quotes. Our players should not go until they have a few solid seasons under their belt. When they leave, they should go somewhere where they will play on a regular basis.

Unlingen! :bowing Been there quite a few times! Thats 30min away from where my grandparents live!

Speaking of spanish, Gomez speaks spanish fluently...

kevin-prince boateng and odonkor are pretty good examples that it's best for youngsters to develop here first. You dont get unlimited chances abroad...

Gomez wouldn't come to Bayern, way too unnecessary... We already have 3 class strikers and can easily play 4-5-1 if we have 2 injured strikers, we don't need him nor does he.

A lot of players say they want to go somewhere and when an offer from another place comes to their doorstep, they take it without hesitation. He said he wants to play for Barcelona, but theres no point since they have 5-6 strikers for 3 positions; 3 in his regular position which is pure targetman.

Also, I cannot wait to see how Nasri raises up, he is one hell of a player to watch. Class player, will definitely take Zidane's place at the next World Cup.

Well Podolski has scored 4 bundesliga goals for Bayern in his career and Klose's BL form has been average since the WM...
