View Full Version : Has Lisandro overtaken Quaresma as our most dangerous attacking threat?

For a few seasons now it has been Quaresma who is our top threat, but this season Lisandro has bagged 13 league goals, and plays centre forward, or on the wing, with equal effect.
Versus Sporting it was the Argentinian who threatened and hassled their defence, whilst Quaresma was ball hogging and doing backheels whilst we were 2-0 down.
The same occured vs Liverpool at Anfield.
Yet Quaresma has consistently been our biggest threat for a few seasons now, and scored a fantastic goal vs Benfica at the Luz.
Both are fantastic players.
But who is the bigger attacking threat?
Discuss.

For Portugal's sake it has to be Quaresma,we can't have Quaresma low on confidence or anything like that . We can't get him into bad habits like trying tricks when its not needed. But for Porto this season Lisandro has looked very sharp and very dangerous. Only problem is when it comes to"big" games he doesn't really score

He's very moody also, he can't let the fans and managerial decisions get to him and that affects his play...He's come along way, but still has some more to grow up

Easily Lisandro right now.
Quaresma has been slowly descending into his old bull**** this season, Jesualdo needs to lay down the law.

I still have to give it to Quaresma this man is a fantastic player and he is the reason why you could see during the Benfica vs Porto game. Benfica has no player who can equal in skill to Quaresma no one on the super liga does that is the big point, also Quaresma's job isnt to be scoring tons of goals thats Lisandros job. QUaresma is supposed to create opportunities and feed the ball in which he does a fantastic job at plus he so happens to score a fair amount of goals too which is a bonus imo.
So hands down it goes to Quaresma!

Well what seems to me is that Porto doesn't fair all too great without Quaresma. Although Lisandro has more goals but it seems like Quaresma MIGHT mean more to the team?

Ronaldo is younger, scores more, is the worlds best player according to several critics.
Therefore, Ronaldo :)

exactly
according to cridicts
cause with NT he does squat!
In drogba's case he preforms on both
I rather have a player thats shows up for our NT instead of his club!
thats why Italians are always winners...they all show up for their NT.. except totti!

Well Ronaldo was our top scorer in the qualifiers I believe, so its unfair to say he does squat.
I believe he was also 2nd top scorer after Pauleta in the WC 2006 qualifiers.
He just doesn't have the same quality round him, and seems to act a bit more greedy for Portugal.

I know that... i cant disagree with you
but pisses me off to see him perform better at man u than our NT

He shows up when it most matters. Sure for the NT he isn't the goal scorer that is for Man U but thats not what happens with Ronaldo because other players score like Maniche Deco etc . Ronaldo plays more like a play maker(which is what he is) for Portugal but still scores. He plays well against Big teams just doesn't score normally

I hear what you sayin
But as captain of our NT .. he's gotta be more productive!

More productive? He's a winger and scores more goals than a striker!!
At his age, he's already got 20 goals in something like 50 appearances for the NT. He will smash the scoring record by the time he calls it quits. And did I mention he's a WINGER??
You should be complaining about our real problem! No threats at all from the striker position...

wait and see how ronaldo plays in euro 2008 before making such a judgement, hes already helped us qualify to euro with 8 important goals.
Ronaldo imo the best portugal nt player since his euro 2004 debut, on average.
our team has had no chemistry lately, and i think it forced ronaldo to play more greedy to try to win the game. when Portugal trains together they should improve as a team and I would expect the team and ronaldo to perform better but well see what happens in June.

Funny thing is our wingers have better scoring touch than our strikers lol Nani - Quaresma - Simao - Cristiano Ronaldo lol

Besides him being the reason he qualified you to Euro 08, you still whine about him? I'm sorry he can't score 12 goals and have 8 assists every game, I guess that's what a captain should do. Totally right! :holy247
You don't need critics to tell you who is the best, you can't compare Drogba to Ronaldo this season, it's silly. He's hitting 30 and most likely hit 40 by the end of the season. He had 3 goals in CL last season, and he already has 5 this season. The guy just keeps improving and he's already incredible and only 23. Some people will always complain and set ridiculous and unattainable standards for players.
I agree that we need to see how he does in Euro 08, it's a bit sad to solely rely on him for glory however.
On topic: Maybe Lopez, I just think Quaresma doesn't care sometimes and he acts way to lazy. When he's on his best though, it's definitely him over Lopez. As of right now, I'll go with Lopez, slightly better than him.
