A bit of a shame that it's going to be every four years from now on. The next one is in 2011 and Argentina seems to be the natural candidate, although Chile is apparently going to push for it.

I've read that Canada and Costa Rica want to be part of it and have had contact with CONMEBOL for some time now.

See ya in 2011! :drinkbeer

Yeah, Mexico wants it but it's just a wish. The chances are almost zero.

think it would be good if the Copa America had all of America

16 teams
10 south americans
US,Mexico,Canada
3 other Concacaf Teams

That would make more sense now that it's every four years. We in CONCACAF could use the 2009 Gold Cup as qualifier.

why it would be good? you want integration and Usa can't even honor the competition by bringing a good squad. I say get the **** out. This is the oldest international cup in the world, deserves better cos if not it will end having the same prestige as your golden cup. I dont want this.

You can't really blame USA for that, they've got the Gold Cup, Copa America and U20 WC all almost at the same time, plus their league is still under way. But you've got a point there, if you can't play why bother at all, give your slot to someone who will take it seriously, maybe some Central American team like Cost Rica or Honduras.

That's not really an excuse. Mexican teams often have to play Libertadores and local playoffs at the same time and still find a way to split their teams and be competitive. Pachuca played an awful lot of games during the past year and sent their a good one every time.

National teams have even more resources. Mexican teams often play without their best because the national team has a game and it's given priority.

The US case seems to be lack of will.

More like US Soccer has no balls. That's it. The suits, not anyone else.

rather do well in the eyes of the american public than the world unfortunately.

Guess MLS was worth it for landon seeing as Becks hasnt played yet, so much for that dumb decision. Was he going to be tired for Galaxy?

The reality is Concacaf and Conmebol should amalgamate and the Copa America would have qualifiers like the Europan championship. The Libertadores would have enormous extra prestiege and American futbol(please note the entire continent)would be on anew level. But would the suits lose some fat jobs?

If that happened, it would be insane, and possibly a rival to the European championships if the cards were played right. :nod

I just think there are a lot of things that would make it not possible, Mexico and the USA would have to give up their automatic spots and the smaller nations have a MUCH better chance qualifying in our group than a joint one.
