Had to watch the replay many times for that red card/penalty incident, seems to be a hand raised by Lugano to the guy's face. Whether there really was contact I'm not sure.
I don't think Lugano is going to be too popular back home after this. Missed the penalty that gave Brasil the win in the semi, and then sent off in this 3rd place play-off.
México have it wrapped up now at 3-1 anyway. :clap

well the future looks bright for el tri that's for sure. Nery and Cacho in the attack. Arce and Guardado in the midfield is a certainty and can rotate with lozano, morales, and dont forget Dos Santos and Vela to be promoted. They might need a DM because Torrado is not that good. Defense will have Rafa, Megallon, Pinto, the castros. Up to the lavolpe euro divas of salcido and osario to change their views if they want to be involved and Ochoa is a very good gk.
bravo hugo.

We did a lot better in this tournament than I would have thought a month ago. Mexico usually does well in Copa America, and this was no exception - we were brought down by the very best. I'm really looking forward to next world cup and I am glad our stand-ins for the European 'divas' proved they can play at this international level. Things are looking very good.

Hopefully Hugo will finally call some players from the U20 team. People talk a lot about Dos Santos and Vela, but Barrera, Moreno, Araujo and Villaluz are also there and will start making noise soon.
There's some positive things from this Copa America. Let's not forget this was an improvised team with Cacho, Pinto, Correa, Arce and Castro. I was particularly impressed by Castro and Cacho. I have my doubts about Arce and Correa, though.
I just hope Hugo drops the hierarchy speech and stops calling players who, either don't have the level, or are just too old for the long-term. I'm mainly thinking about Blanco, Borgetti, Fonseca, Lozano and Bravo.

Uruguay were controlling the match, and if it wasn't for that red card, then I could see Mexico losing this game :nod

yes, 30 minutes out of 90 shows us clearly things would have stayed that way.
Is it just me or people have a hard time giving mexico their due. It's like gasp, shock, horror, they can actually beat good teams and not just concacaf.
They beat brasil twice now and shut them out in the process and people treat it as a fluke or as if mexico didnt win, but more like the other teams lost it.
Last time I checked, it was not about control, but scoreboard, just like euro 2004 and greece.

B0llocks, I give Mexico all the respect they are due, but last night Uruguay made them look like schoolboys until the debateable red card and penalty.
After that Mexico were far superior.

Liverpool Milan is a once in a million match.
All I said was that Uruguay were superior, and I could see Mexico losing the game.
I am not saying they would lose the game, I was just giving my opinion, and only a liar or a fool wouldn't admit that Uruguay were superior until the penalty.

Lugano's red card was harsh to say the least.

Agree with Bossa. Mexico were fortunate. That red was bogus, coming from a free kick that was bogus too. Uruguay played some great footie this tournament, who is to say they wouldnt continue that and beat Mexico? Take nothing away from the Mexicans but the first half hour would suggest they were on their way to doing so.

Yeah, we beat Brazil by pure luck because they missed a lot of chances, Ecuador is very weak, Chile was eliminated and we still couldn't win, Paraguay lost a man and suffered a goal at the beginning, the referee helped against Uruguay, Dos Santos dived against Portugal, New Zeland is crap, etc. The only games that are fair are the ones we lose. :laugh
