The league is not mathematically won yet, however it is very unlikely that it will slip away from Juve's grasp, thanks to a Del Piero brace and Lazio who held Inter to a 1-1 draw.
Yesterday Inter did not have Vieri to solve the game in their favour, and this might be an important factor for them during the coming 2 CL legs.
Milan keep having results and also playing crisis, where they only collected 3 points in their last 4 games; this is definitely a bad time for them to go out of form.
Lazio are holding tight their 4th place and getting closer to the 3rd and even 2nd place. Can they do it?
No team has been mathematically relegated as of yet, but Torino, Como and Piacenza are a sure bet. The last place will be fought between Atalanta and Reggina, and if the latter fall down to Serie B, that would mean that the remaining Serie A teams are all from the centre-north of Italy!
Here are the results in full:

And here's the table up to date:

Interesting facts about the top scorer list:
- Del Piero, thanks to his brace against Brescia, is now 2nd top scorer in the league behind Vieri. With these 2 goals Del Piero now scored 100 goals in Serie A.
- Tomasson is Milan's 2nd best striker (even better than Shevcenko) even though he hardly played this season.
Here's the full top scorer list (including european and cup games):

Juve's defence/GK win them the title :bowing

Another interesting point is that Juve have played for 3/4 of this season without Del Piero and/or Trezeguet (last year's most prolific attacking duo in europe having scored over 50 goals). In fact Del Piero and Trezeguet have only played for about 4 1/2 matches together at the same time!
Even though they had these 2 players missing, they still succeeded in getting 18 players (or more - not sure) in scoring, therefore they have cushioned the losses of their 2 main strikers which is obviously no easy feat.

Definetely Juve's title now. Like the Liverpool team of old - always play the full 90 minutes and seem to get late goals when it matters :clap

Determination is an important ingredient for all the best teams :) Real will soon feel it :D

Still no substitute for class though as Juve will soon find out :salute

Shame Montero/Davids are missing for the 1st leg as both are very influential players who could both null the superstars of Real.
I think it will be an ideal opportunity for Nedved to show he is up there with the best :clap :bowing

I used to think the same when Zidane was substituted with Nedved, but as I learnt, determination and fighting spirit can take you places where class cannot. ;)

Don't forget Tacchinardi ;) I ate my words about him, as after a slow start, he has become an important part of Juve's 27th league. If Nedved puts up another class performance against Real, he'll have a very good chance at winning the Golden Ball award. Usually players that are part of a winning team take it, and with Juve winning the league, and arriving at least to the final, that would be an excellent recognition.

In a league obviously on the long run class prevails, however in a cup game, just on 2 games, anything is possible. Some examples? Ajax 95/96 were much better than Juve, but still Juve won. Juve 96/97 & 97/98 were much better than Dortmund and Real, but they still lost. Man Utd (I`m sure you`ll agree) has more class (at least this year) than Liverpool, but still Liverpool's determination won them the Worthingthon cup.

A bit of determation by one side and lack of consistency by the other side then.
Class means more than determation although every team needs workers.
With players like Davids, Vieira, Gerrard, Van Bommell & Gravesen :king you get the work rate/determination and the vision and technical ability aswell and thus they are so much more important in the midfield than say a Ray Parlour or a Nicky Butt.
