How many games are left?

Shed Boy

There is one game left until the league splits into two groups.

Then after the split, each team plays five more games, one match each against each team in the same section of the league as them.

Haha your guess is as good as mine. The only thing that matters is that overall each team has played the same number of games home and away. In the first half of the season you play each team in the league once home once away, then after the split i think itis just random.

On Wednesday the SFA decided that ahead of the final league program being worked out after the split, the final old firm game ( Likely the to be a league decider ) will go ahead on Sunday 27 th April, Celtic arrive back from playing their second leg of Uefa cup semi final early the previous Friday.

Celtic are not going to accept this situation :banghead , I'm worried if we complaint they might move the game forward to the Saturday, the day after we arrive back :censored

Anyway....

Our supporters will still be in Portugal drunk at our tremendous victory that puts us into the uefa cup final and are likely to miss the winning of the league title at Ipox :king

The date for the Celtic V Rangers match was suggested by Strathclyde police with safety as the primary concern. I understand why the don't want it as the last game of the season in case a situation a lá 1999 happens again. But what I don't see is why don't they just move the game forward one week. I don't know what this does to the fixture plans and if it complicates things that much but surely a compromise can be found.

Clubs have played in a similar circumstance before with Aberdeen playing a cup winners cup match midweek before playing a title decider on the Saturday. This was in 1983 i think. Plus i know that the year United lost to AS Roma in the European cup semi second leg they had a scottish cup final (which we also lost) to play on the saturday.

I guess what im trying to say is that Celtic aren't getting picked on here. It happens to the best of us.

I think the big difference Shed is that the previous examples you mention the league fixtures were set, here, because of the split the only game that has been set is the Rangers v Celtic last game (League Decider ?), which was done with the knowledge of the euro game and against Celtic's objection to the date.

Wrong in my opinion :nono

Ok mate i suppose you are right there then. As far as i understand though the clubs have voted on wether the game should be moved and they voted 6 to 3 in favour of keeping it where it is. Is this true or have I grabbed the wrong end of the stick as I really don't see what kind of say the other 10 member clubs should have in the outcome of when the game is played.

Celtic should be dealing with this issue privately with the SPL, rather then the high profile / front page way it has become, that in itself will guarantee polarisation of opinion as someone has to back down.

This whole split is laughable, get back to a proper league format and eliminate petty arguments around who plays who / when / where.

My understanding (I am as confused as most people seem to be on this split) is that the police suggested the date (given Celtic park 1999 which you mentioned) This was then put to a vote to all the SPL clubs, Celtic, Killie and Livingston rejected the idea (Celtic letting it be known they did not want that date), the two Dundee clubs, and one other did not vote which left 6-3.

If it stays as is , then when we win the league we can unveil the Tee shirts with " And we did not have to use our excuse " :laugh

Yes so what I heard about the vote was correct then. Didn't know about who had voted in what ways though. Thanks for that information. I think a phonecall from Celtic Park to the SPL would have been suitable, yes. And then a meeting set up and we the public should have been told about the final desicion.

The way i see it we better have a desicion pretty soon, or if we hear nothing is that a desicion on it's own meaning that the SPL are not backing down?
