Defoe going nowhere, insists Jol

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42325000/jpg/_42325129_defoe203.jpg Defoe has been among the goals despite not playing regularly

Tottenham boss Martin Jol insists striker Jermain Defoe will not be sold during the January transfer window. Defoe, 24, has not been a regular this season and reports have linked him with a move when the window opens.
Jol hit back: "Jermain's going nowhere, there is always speculation about him but he's very important to us.
"The window will open in a month's time and he has already been linked with Manchester united, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Portsmouth."
Despite his failure to command a regular first-team place, Defoe has scored five goals in his last four starts.
Jol is determined to keep the England striker as Spurs remain in all cup competitions and are starting to climb the Premiership after an indifferent start.

HE HAS TO STAY!

He's a good player but if he's not scoring he doesn't contribute anything else, needs to stop just smacking it and add some class to his shooting.

Indded, a good player but with no end product then it is useless...like having a defender who always scores own goals

Ginger Peleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm a Keane fan, everyone seems to be either Keane or Defoe at Spurs. Most people I know have said Keane. Defoe, although he has quick feet and can do most defenders, like Alex said, all he has to his game is his shot. His goal against Wigan was fantastic, thats what he's all about but we aint seeing enough. This is the reason Keane is pretty much ahead of Defoe in the pecking order. Like against Arsenal, although I would of started Defoe for a change, Robbie got the nod because normally, he will score and create play and havoc for the defenders.

The only thing I've seen of Defoe leaving is a £12million bid from Liverpool with Bellamy too.

Not a fan of Bellamy myself, but if he will score us goals then I know who I would rather have

To be honest I think with defoe and bellemy we'd be swapping a granny smith for a golden delicious when really we need a satsuma......

Anyway- Bellamy + £12m? No thanks....Defoe is good, but hes not THAT good.

Quite a wonderful selection dilema to have though- Berbatov/Keane/Mido/Defoe.....you probably have the best striking options in the prem (in terms of player quality and depth).

Yet they haven't scored from open play away in the premiership this season.

Strange really because on paper Berbatov, Defoe and Keane are good strikers but whether it's a combination of a lack of confidence away from home or a lack of chances created for them i don't know.

I think its more to do with service, with malbranque on the left hopefully that'll change.
