I would like to know what are the particularities of each of the big european leagues, and wich one is the best. I am asking this question because I haven't had the chance to watch games from every league. Thanks a lot for answering my question.

top 3 for sure are
English, Spanish and Italian - arguable which one is the best - different styles. MOst of the world football stars play in those countries leagues.
then comes Germany and France.
Then Holland, Portugal, Poland........ maybe Czech R, Austria, Russia,
then - Belgium and Scotland
then - the rest
Rough valuation by Pyrtas - arguable :D

I forgot abot Greece - I`d put it with Holland, Portugal
Concidering Scottish and Belgian leagues they have very, very average teams there and the only teams that mean anything are Gers, Celtic , Brugge and Anderlecht. Apart from them they fall into the 4th european division. So I think if we judge the leagues overall Scottish and Belgian are a bit behind Russia, Poland, Czech

My valuation would be:
1. Spanish, English, Italian
2. German, French
3. Dutch, Portugese, Greek, Turkey
4. Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Scotland
5. Belgium, Austria, Chech. Rep, Norway, Denmark, Croatia, Switzerland
6. Sweden, Romania, Bulgaria
7. Hungary, Finland,
8. Ireland
I would think the biggest movers up in future might be:
Poland - its better year by year, really and with population potencial + training grounds potential (there is a lot to do to promote and build well organized training grounds for youngsters)
Russia - population potential slowed however by harsh climate they must invest in indoor capabilities
Romania and Bulgaria if they will coupe with corruption esspecially Romania could be great.
Scandinavia would be better off if they would make all Scandinavian league.
Movers down I predict to be:
Scotland, Belgium and in lesser extent Switzerland, Netherlands and Portugese because they are small and with 'poorer countries' catching up in wealth it might be hard to recruit 'medium star' players from those countries because they will stay in Poland, Russia or wherever.

no offence, but i think belgium and scotland are way ahead of poland. these teams are in the CL or do well in the uefa cup, and there are not really any popular teams from poland. just my oppinion. plus i've never heard or read anything about the polish league before you guys came along, whereas anderlecht, brugge, celtic and rangers are quite popular teams

yeah i agree it should go by performences in the european competitions anyway and to be hones teams from the likes poland dont generally do well in europe.
anyway spain have the best league in europe.
the english league although pretty good there are only two teams who win it. Man Utd and Arsenal.A bit of a two horse league you might say

This is what I said before. Scotland and Belgium would be the same level as Welsh league if it wasn`t for Gers, Celtic and Bruggue , Anderlecht.
Does popularity mean quality? No offence but even though those two teams from Belgium are a respectively recognised brand in Europe (mostly for their historical achievments) they aren`t as good as Polish top teams (Wisla, Legia, Groclin,Amica). And where is the rest? 3rd, 4th and so on?
Scotland - lests say that Rengers and Celtic are better than Polish teams (not so sure about Wisla) but again where is the rest? Hearts, Aberdeen.....
And , to be honest, when was the last time when Celtic or Gers made an impact in Europe? (exclude this years good run by Celtic in the UEFA cup - where Wisla unluckily lost to LAzio).
If we put Scottish teams on one side of the scale and Polish on the other it would be about balanced. Where Celts and Gers gain points rest of the league loses them. That is why both me and Coobek subjectively rated those leagues as about equal.
Belgian league on the other hand loses it all the way.
And Russia and Ukraine and Czechs are similar level...
And last thing - if you haven`t heard of some team does it really mean they are a weak side? You don`t have to win european cups to be a good team. It is like QPR - everyone knows them and which league they play?
And teams like Basel and Wisla - nonames for most of you but capable of beating Liverpool, Juventus, Schalke, Parma...

Yep its all marketing and reputation gained by the years of being stable at the head of your league and playing year by year in European competition. This is what we didn't have and I agree that myself I know just a handfull of Rusian, Ukrainian not mentioning Bulgarian or Romanina clubs. But lets wait few years and lets have few 'spectacular' losses say of Anderlecht or Feyenoord to teams say from Poland and you will start noticing us guys but its all in future. Pyrtas said that we both rated leagues subjectively but since we know well recognizeable clubs and not recognizeable at all from our part of Europe our subjectivity is far more objective than yours.

It's mainly correct. Belgium indeed only has Brugge and Anderlecht who can do something in Europe.
But they're better than the Polish teams mate ;)
Even Genk and Standard would beat those teams.

:o :nono
sorry but you are mistaken sir. Anderlecht or Bruggue may try to compete with Wisla or Groclin. But the rest are a bit behind.
This is what I was talking about - Belgian league is more recognised (Eurogoals and so) and that is why it is deemed better.
