old kuranyi v gomez

I havent had much chance (read 0) of watching bundesliga this season but from reading your comments it seem that this year has been very interesting.

one of the more interesting aspect for alot of us here is the emergence of many young players this season. one of them that caught my eye is mario gomez, how do u guys reckon he stacks up again kuranyi (a few season back in Stutgart)? who's better? does he cut the cheese? :dk

AL i think you are too harsh on him! Gomez may not be the most talented player, and he looks a bit clumsy sometimes but he's got a good technique, he's running, fighting for balls and in the last time he doesn't even need more than 2 chances to score a goal! :ninja He improved a lot since last year. I'm not expecting huge things of him, if he plays good i'm happy, if not that's alright too. ;) As long as he scores for VfB!

I think Kuranyi is waaay better. I'm sorry that Kuranyi has sank and declined to such stupid level that he is today. I hope he manages to collect himself soon and rebuild his legacy 'cuz I had.. we all had actually- very high expectation for that fellow.
Mario Gomez on the other hand is nothing like Kuranyi.. neither in his dribbling, passing or heading skills.

Kuranyi is one of the most overrated strikers in Germany.So bad technique he has. I was very pleased with Klinsi's choice before WM2006.

I saw how he played in the NT. He can never control the ball well. When ball was passed to him especailly to his foot, we always see the ball was five metres ahead of him and stolen.:ninja

In China, we always call him zero-goal striker.

In 2005 for the Confed Cup --- Kuranyi was Germany's #1 striker. Then he went to Schalke and his form dipped.
I doubt Gomez has reached the days of Kuranyi at VFB. In fact Stuttgart had a better side then I think. Hinkel was in form, Lahm was establishing himself etc.
I wish the best for Kuranyi, but I can't see him as starter for the NT in the future --- but it seems alot can happen in a year, so who knows???

Val-hit it on the head...Gomez is playing in team which is not as good as the team Kuranyi played in.
Gomez for me does alot of his own work-Kuranyi let us remember went 14 games or something with no goal for VFB in 2004...
