Klose keen on foreign fling
German international striker Miroslav Klose has reiterated his desire to play abroad, but says he is not ruling out a new contract at Werder Bremen.
Klose was linked with some of Europe's biggest clubs prior to the close of the transfer window, with a raft of Premiership sides monitoring his situation.
The 28-year-old former Kaiserslautern star, who is contracted at the Weser Stadion until June 2008, admitted in an interview with Sport-Bild that he could be tempted to extend his stay at Bremen:
"Werder are not without a chance of keeping me," he said.
Klose did, however, confirm that his long term goal remains to play for one of Europe's big name clubs.
"I've always had to work hard to establish myself and be successful. I don't think that would be any different at a top club such as Real Madrid or Barcelona," he added.
The World Cup Golden Boot winner also put a dampener on speculation that he could be ready to join Bremen's Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich when his current contract expires. "Bayern is a top club, but I would like to stress that if I move, then I would like to move abroad."
What European club would you like to see Klose playing for? Or what club would suit him best? Or should he stay in Bremen?
Personally i would miss him in the BL, on the other hand it'd be nice to have another german playing abroad. what do you think?

Klose should never ever leave the Bundesliga as he is the symbol of German football.Even if Werder Bremen may receive any sum of money from bigger clubs than Bremen, they should never let him leave Germany.I am pretty sure he can't relish the freedom he is enjoying at bremen from any other club in the overseas. Moreover,Bremen's impressive attacking display will definitely make them more popular in the foresseable future and ,therefore, Klose should immediately fade out of his mind about his dream of joining foreign club.I don't even think that his move will bode well for GERMANY at this later stage.

Whether to play football abroad is depend on himself!

Hope he stays but I'd still respect him if he left, would be an interesting development in German football if you remeber that during the 'golden age' Hassler, Moller, Kohler, Matthaus, Klinsmann, Voller etc. all had stints abroad.

Frings wants Klose to stay
By Thomas Zeh - Created on 3 Dec 2006
German international Torsten Frings has advised Werder Bremen team-mate Miroslav Klose to shun offers from abroad in order to stay at the Weserstadion.
Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard recently claimed that Klose would be a target for most of Europe's top clubs, but according to Frings, the former Kaiserslautern star should stay with Bremen.
“At Bremen he has everything he needs to play top football and earns good money. He is the king here and who knows if he would feel as well somewhere else?” Frings told Sportbild.
Frings himself once left Werder for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, but returned to the Weserstadion, despite being first choice in Munich as he preferred the calmer, family-like atmosphere in Bremen.
“To me my personal well-being matters more than money and Miro should think very well if he really wants to leave Werder,” Frings added.
Klose is tied to Bremen until 2008, but although the club are desperate to keep him, he has so far refused to sign a new deal, fueling rumors that he has his eyes a move abroad.
The leading scorer of the 2006 World Cup has recently stressed that England and Spain would be favorable destinations for him and clubs from La Liga and the Premiership might be ready to prise him away from Bremen.
After his performance yesterday i have to say i would miss him if he'd leave the Bundesliga. He gives our league a lot...in all aspects.

It´s my guess that Bremen can´t afford to keep him so they will not try to persuade him to stay..not seriously anyway.
Spain next I guess....

I don't think he's going to England - Italy or Spain suits his style more.

I hope he stays in Germany. Bremen can compete with any team in the world. He plays champions league, has a great chance of winning the league...I can understand him wanting to try something new but I just hope its not England. I can't stand the EPL. He should go to Italy or Spain. Maybe Milan, they seem to have striker problems at the moment.

Klose ‘accepts’ Juventus move Thursday 14 December, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Werder Bremen striker Miroslav Klose says he is ready to sacrifice Champions League football in order to complete a Juventus switch.
The German international has been strongly linked with the Turin giants and his agent Alexander Schutt had already stated that playing European football – which Juve won’t have next season – was not a necessity.
“I already told the Werder management that I am interested in moving to a foreign League,” Klose told the Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport. “I am only 28 and I can still do well.
“I have read that Coach Didier Deschamps said very nice things about me and I want to thank him,” he added.
“It is flattering to know that the boss of one of the most important sides in the world has a high consideration of me.”
Klose, last season’s Bundesliga top scorer, is contracted to Werder until 2008 and the club are keen to extend his agreement.
“It is too early to discuss the details of a new contract. I have already met the management and will meet them again in January. Now I only want to focus on our next Bundesliga match.”
Numerous Juventus stars have threatened to quit the club in the summer if the outfit don’t strengthen their squad, but Klose would seemingly welcome a Turin switch.
“Not playing a European competition next season would not be a problem for me,” added the German Sportsman of the Year.
“Obviously a professional must examine the situation carefully before deciding such an important move, but playing the Champions League is not my priority.
“What really matters is the club’s project for the future, the important thing is for Juve to immediately return to Serie A,” concluded the Polish-born ace.
Klose, who is valued at something around £17.8m, caught the eye at the last two World Cup Finals and will be awarded the Golden Boot as top scorer of the 2006 competition [with five goals] next Monday in Zurich

It's kinda funny that fans of the top-club Bremen have the same problems as the fans of the little clubs - their best players leave for better/richer clubs. :D

you better get your act together on sunday because otherwise you'll jinx the Meisterschaft. Something has to be done about these rumours with Klose and Frings. They are important player if not the most important player for bremen.

How so, it's not like Diego was a no-name before he joined Werder, but he struggled a bit in Portugal.
A club like Bayern couldn't take the risk signing him, a club like Werder had to take that risk just as 96 has to take risks signing players like Huszti or Vinicius and hoping they will pan out.
Werder does the same thing Bayern does, they got Mertesacker and Wiese from lesser clubs, sign talented players like Füllkrug because they can offer more then 96, not because only they saw the talent...

Every club does it. But Bayern do it strangely often. I'd consider Bayerns scouting team as "unlucky" :ninja many of their scouted player have been flops.
Comparison:
Bought from other BL teams:
Oliver Kahn >> Karlsruhe
Daniel van Buyten >> Hamburg
Andreas Görlitz >> 1860 München
Valérien Ismaël >> Werder Bremen
Lucio >> Leverkusen
Sebastian Deisler >> not active anymore but came from Berlin
Hasan Salihamidzic >> Hamburg
Mehmet Scholl >> Karlsruhe
Claudio Pizarro >> Werder Bremen
Lukas Podolski >> 1.FC Köln
Youth
Michael Rensing >> youth
Philipp Lahm >> youth
Christian Lell >> youth
Andreas Ottl >> youth
Bastian Schweinsteiger >> youth
Scouted abroad:
Willy Sagnol >> scouted
Martín Demichelis >> scouted
Owen Hargreaves >> scouted
Ali Karimi >> scouted
Mark van Bommel >> scouted
Roy Makaay >> scouted
Roque Santa Cruz >> scouted
Bremen:
From other BL teams:
Tim Wiese >> Kaiserslautern
Clemens Fritz >> Leverkusen
Per Mertesacker >> Hannover
Patrick Owomoyela >> Bielefeld
Jurica Vranjes >> Stuttgart
Frank Baumann >> came from Nürnberg (when they were in the 2nd league)
Miroslav Klose >> came from Kaiserslautern
Scouted:
Naldo >> scouted
Petri Pasanen >> scouted
Pierre Womé >> scouted
Peter Niemeyer >> scouted
Leon Andreasen >> scouted
Diego >> scouted
Daniel Jensen >> scouted
Hugo Almeida >> scouted
Mohamed Zidan >> scouted but not a bremen player anymore
Markus Rosenberg >> scouted
Ivan Klasnic >> from St. Pauli i'd still consider it as scouting
Youth
Tim Borowski >> youth
Torsten Frings >> started in Bremen so youth
Christian Schulz >> youth
Aaron Hunt >> youth
Kevin Schindler >> youth
if that helps :ninja

Not much of a difference imo.
A lot of the Bremen's youth players wouldn't have made it at Bayern, that's a fact. It's harder to make it there because they CAN buy all great established players from the other Bundesliga teams because they have more money and prestige and those players are hard to push away from the starting eleven.
Scouting sure is a great word. So Stuttgart should get credit for scouting Hilbert? I don't think so. They just had more money. Same with Niemeyer.
None of the "scouted" players were unknowns, it's just that most clubs just can't compede with clubs like Bayern, Bremen or even Stuttgart who also have quite a big payroll even though they sure like to paint themselves as a cinderella team only because they underachieved before.

never said we "scouted" Hilbert. Many BL clubs were interested in him and he was quiet famous already. thing is we only paid 1,3 m euro for him. cheap if you consider his quality. thats what i call good business. this has nothing to do with having money. he liked the whole package we offered him. that's why he came to us.
Scouting is not as easy as it sounds. Bayern also had an eye on Diego but they thought he was no Bundesliga "material". then Bremen buy him for little money and it pays off. Same with Naldo. You've gotta have a nose for transfers and Bayern lacks this big time imo.
if Bayern had Bremens youth player they would be leading the table right now! :ninja

Well, let's just agree to disagree.
1,3mio is much for a team like 96. Because Stuttgart is a bigger club in the Bundesliga, they got him. I'm pretty sure Stuttgart is paying good money as well and he gets playing time.
When Ballack was still with Bayern Borowski wouldn't have played.
One can't just compare different clubs like this.
I think we agree about Diego. But I don't blame Bayern for not buying Diego, like I said, it was a risky buy and lesser teams than Bayern have to make them to compete. Bayern don't and can't.
I rate Naldo, but is he really better than Van Buyten/Lucio? And you shouldn't have a duo of Naldo/ Lucio in the back imo.
So I doubt Bayern would have even considered buying him.
It's great that things worked out so well for Bremen and I don't say it's luck but things aren't so black and white.

i think Naldo is clearly better than Lucio and Van Buyten.
if bayern aren't risky, they will never win anything. it's risky to buy player who cost 15m+ because then they are under pressure that the player justifys the high fee. Every transfer is a risk.
Stuttgart bought 2 mexicans. the first mexicans in the Bundesliga and NOONE knew if they would make it. seeing them now it was absolutely worth it.

I think Lucio is having an off-season but is better than Naldo when in form.
(Van Buyten depiste scoring some goals is bad though imo.)
Bayern doesn't have to do risky moves because they can just buy great already established players. They can watch Stuttgart, Leverkusen or Bremen do those risky moves and then buy the player once he showed he can dominate in the Bundesliga.
Of course those can suddenly start to suck like Schweini, Lucio, Podolski and Lahm are doing this season and then "the Scheiße ist am Dampfen".
Of course NOONE knew. That's why a club like Bayern just can't make a transfer like that but a club like Stuttgart or Hertha can.
Noone knew that Gekas would dominate the BL, Bochum took a chance and it paid off. Should have Bayern bought Gekas, maybe but it won't ever happen.

so you think we can afford to buy (expensive) flops?! :ninja not really. more on the contrary, bayern can afford to buy flops because they are the richest club in the BL.
John Dahl Tomasson is such a flop, he still costs us 4m wage. all this because we let coaches buy the player. i m glad that these times are over!

I'm very unimpressed with Naldo. He's a decent player but nothing spectacular. However, he's quite a bit better than Pasanen in my opinion so I'm glad we have him.
