GET READY FOR GOALS!

12:00 - 26 September 2006

Junior Agogo says Forest are planning a goal-scoring rampage against Port Vale tonight.

The Reds have not scored in their last three games. But the £125,000 striker insists they can rediscover their finishing touch - and when they do, there will be no stopping them.

Forest are top of League One ahead of their trip to Vale Park.

And Agogo believes their performances will yield a flurry of goals.

He said: "We are not concerned at all because we are creating so many chances.

"Look at the Tranmere game - we hit the crossbar and the keeper made some great saves - and it was the same at Carlisle.

"If one of those goes in it could be a field day for us. We could get three or four."

Forest's impressive start to the season has been due to their outstanding defensive record - conceding only four goals in ten games.

That is the best in the division - but in goal-scoring they sit joint tenth.

Agogo

said: "All we need to do is concentrate on getting the first goal and once we do that we can go on to get lots more, because then the confidence will build.

"We are not getting too carried away - we still have to keep things tight at the back. But if we get one early doors, anything can happen."

And he says Forest will be more potent when Kris Commons returns from injury.

The midfielder played 30 minutes against Tranmere - enough to make a confirmed admirer out of Agogo.

"What a player," he said. "He makes a massive difference. You can tell the difference his presence makes and you could see the reception he got from the fans when he came on.

"I'd heard about him before and now I'm just pleased to be playing with him."

proof in the pudding junior just get the goals and the points in the bag.Im not bothered if we win 1-0 in the 90th min so long as we win.results win leagues not predicting how many u think we are going to score.Time for action so go out and do it:clap scoring more than 1 goal in a game will be a bonus. Not scoring in the last 3 games shows more work is still needed & the last thing we need is over confidence plus we need the rub of the green to go our way

I hope this isn't all mouth and no action from Junior, bc the pressure will now be on for Forest to go on a goal rampage.......

I agree, I'd take a 1-0 90th minute winner. However a solid performance is required and once again we need to concede 0 goals.

IS THE TIME RIGHT FOR COMMONS?

12:00 - 26 September 2006

Colin Calderwood is considering turning to Kris Commons as a creative influence, by handing him his first start of the season at Port Vale tonight.

Commons has not completed a full 90 minutes since he recovered from his pre-season ankle injury.

The Forest manager knows Commons is unlikely to last the distance, but he is thinking seriously of including the play-maker in the starting line-up.

Forest want to end their run of three games without a win - or a goal - at Vale Park.

Calderwood said: "It is a decision I think we have to make - whether to stick Kris in.

"We haven't got a reserve game this week and I think, in my own mind, it is an option.

"He has trained and trained and trained. He has played two reserve matches. He had half an hour on Saturday.

"We will see how he is after training, but we have to look at the whole group.

"If there are any changes we have to make sure whoever comes in knows what they are doing, what their jobs are."

Calderwood says Forest may consider changing their formation to accommodate Commons, who is at his best wide on the left.

Forest have been using a 3-5-2 approach, but could revert to 4-4-2 - or hand Commons a free role as one of three central midfielders.

"We are always a little flexible and he doesn't naturally fit in as a wing back," said Calderwood.

"We have a player who can make a difference to us coming back into the fold.

"On Saturday, Kris's set-plays were good, plus he had a chance that the keeper made a very good save from.

"He looked as if he could create something, as though he could make something happen with the ball."

The game at Vale Park is the latest in a run of fixtures against promotion-chasing sides, the significance of which is not lost on the manager.

But he is not concerned about Forest's lack of goals.

He said: "It is one of a batch of tough games. Port Vale are up there and Swansea will definitely be up there come the end of the season.

"Our up-coming matches are against our closest rivals up there at the top of the league.

"We saw Tranmere as the first of that run, now we look at Port Vale.

"We have taken two very good points from two 0-0 draws. Yes we did not score, but we have done everything but score.

"Against Carlisle we had a goal chalked off, for offside, from Grant Holt - which I thought was a more decisive moment than the penalty miss.

"Then Saturday was a good performance. We looked strong against them and had to defend well.

"In terms of goals, we carry on as normal. We will have a finishing session in training. We will work on our set plays.

"The week's training last week was based on lots of targets and lots of goals.

"We are not a million miles away from being the top goalscorers in the league.

"If I was really concerned that we had not scored, I would worry that we had not scored in three games.

"But I thoroughly believe that we will."

And Calderwood says the most important factor is maintaining momentum and focus in coming months.

He said: "You wouldn't complain if somebody had told us that we would be top at this stage of the season.

"But that should not stop us wanting to do better than we have done in the last three games.

"The players believe that themselves, which is why I have no anxiety about not having scored or won in the last three games."

Top scorer Grant Holt will be available to start. He was left out of the starting line-up on Saturday as a precaution because he had a slight calf injury.

I expect grant holt to start tonite against port vale after recovering from his injury

junior needs to get a goal soon. settle any nerves, and get his account open. the longer it goes before it does, the more the pressure rises
