What's your thoughts.

Im really hopeing we can get a few goals. These games are always good to watch.

We are playing good enough, just been a wee bit rusty & unlucky in front of goal in previous games, so if we can get an early goal, it could be 3 or 4...

3-3 the reds...

Who's their number 2 keeper?

this is my team..

bellamy might want to put one across his old team.

3-3 the reds...

Am I the only one baffled by this.

About the game, with Given out I think you'll win this, maybe a shaky 1-0, or 2-1. Which is all you want at the moment. Im going for 2-0 for you.

Not going to be a good start for Steve Harper(Newcastle keepers 1st match this season) thats all I know..

Last two meetings at Anfield under Benitez finished with both wins for us. 3-1 my prediction.

Without their star keeper, it'll be an easy win for Liverpool as long as they'll score goals. Haven't score in the 3 games? Goals have to come from somewhere.

steven harper who looks nearly identical to shay given.

The unfortunate thing about it for newcastle is that he plays nothing like shay given

---------------------Reina-------------------
Finnan-------Carra--------Agger------Warnock

Stick with that team for more than 2 games in a row (bar injuries) would be nice.

We just need to start converting chances.

^ Agree with Rickys team.......

Their star player last year was Given...with him out- we should be able to score!

Theyve got a good mid with Parker n Emre, but nothing Xabi n Momo cant handle. Finnan should stick close to Duff and cut out the service to Martins.

Ive got more bad news though lads-

I think Bramble might also be injured :(

I dont think we'll thrash them, but we'll do enough 2 get 3 points (hopefully :holy247 )

Crouch will play...

Finnan Carragher Hyypia Warnock

Pennant Gerrard Alonso Gonzalez

----------Kuyt Bellamy --------

Let Hyypia play a game, he's been out for a couple and Agger has been MotM for the last two for us hasn't he? We don't want to wear him out. I reckon Gonzalez should play on the left this game and Aurelio should be dropped. Please play Kuyt and Bellamy again, they have the intelligence, once the understanding is there, there will be goals!

I'd agree with that aswell.

Liverpool must win at the very least 16 out of their 19 home games if not more if they are too stand a realstic chance of winning the leauge.

Chelsea will win at least 16 out of their 19 home games if not more than that which means Liverpool would have to at least match their home record if they are too stand any chance of winning the leauge especially with them only picking up 1 point from 6 on the road so far.

all poor statistic! At the end we will see who will be league champions.... Benitez said this year you can be with 72 pionts first. The premier League is getting harder and harder! ManU, Chelsea , Arsenal, POOL were always top. And now came teams like Charlton Portsmouth and Tottenham who plays really good!

Whats poor statistic? I didn't give any stats i just gave my opinion that Liverpool will have to win at least 16 out of their 19 home games if they are too stand a chance of winning the leauge.

I said this because i can't see Chelsea not winning at least 16 of their home games and i feel that you would have to at least match their home record if you are too get closer to them than you have done in previous seasons.

Benitez thinks you can win the leauge with 72 points? I think he's living in dream land if that's true.

Garcias woulda been goal of the season contender the way he pulls it down when he hits the post. Well, no, it woulda been 2nd behind Alonsos!! his last 2 goals for us have been from his own half - brilliant. What a return to form eh? That ball for the first goal by him was immense as well.

good to see gerrard on the right....thought garcia had an excellent game.he was runnin the show in our mid field atleast in the first half.

Think Garcia played really well, alot of the times he plays pretty $hit but pulls off something & gives a misleading impression of how his game was.

But yday he played really well and a goal wouldve just been icing on the cake.

Incidentally....how many times have we hit the friggin woodwork this season :woot

Babayaro b!tch slapping Kuyt.......why wasnt a bigger deal made about that? The ref didnt see it so surely the FA can do something to the cheating cvnt?

I thought the pen commentary was rubbish also, said on sky sports that Newcastle should have had 3 pens, but Carra got hit twice in a couple of seconds, so does the ref now give a pen for each one.

Newcastle manager Roeder said: "In my opinion I thought we should have had a penalty for a foul by Daniel Agger on Shola Ameobi, but I spoke to the referee and he said he was going to give offside anyway.
"But the second one was a definite penalty. It was a definite handball, even Rafa Benitez said they were fortunate not to get a penalty, and it was the best save of the night."

I thought Baba's juggling on the line was better.

Yeah I know....I was just laughing at the irony of it all though!

Parker pretending it hit his face, it reminded me of Taylor a couple of seasons ago....remember, he was on the line and handballed it then grabbed his thigh as though he'd been shot to try convince the ref it hit him there :laugh

it was the most biased piece of commentary i have ever heard.

I thought he was going to cream himself, he was getting so damn excited about "3 penos that shouldve been". Yeah because Carras 2nd handball was totally unrelated to the 1st wasnt it.
The ref didnt give it ok......but the guy was clearly favouring NUFC.

Happy with that, Newcastle really couldnt get anywhere near us, the gulf in class was massively apparent.

Firstly, Xabi is back to his majestic self, MOTM, and IMO, he was on Sunday too. Controlled the whole game. His pass to put Finn in for the first goal was world class, and u have to give Finn his due aswell, a great run and pull back for Dirk to nothc the first of many.

What can be said about Xabi's goal, sheer brilliance from a world class player, simple as.

A word on Garcia too. You all know i love him, IMO, he's a little genius, the only problem we have is accomodating him in the team, cos I prefer him to have more influence centrally, but from wide last night, he hurt them all the time. And ive got to say, if THAT effort that hits the post goes in, you can close the votes for goal of the season already mate.

The first touch he prouduced, on the run, under pressure from the defender, high ball, was absolutely nothing short of genius, then to hit it in one motion on the volley with the same foot...........jeesus, i nearly came in my pants ha ha ha ha. When it hit the post and came out I was gutted.

Kuyt was immense again, he was everywhere, and deserved his goal, first of many. His link up play and work rate is phenomenal too. Should really have had a hat trick on another noght, with the header and the chance he scuffed wide.

Danny Agger was immense again too.

I came back from Chelsea positive on Sunday, cos I thought we were nothing short of easily the better team, we lost to a piece of individual brilliance. Other than that, they NEVER hurt us. I feel were getting a bit of momentum going now, so lets just smash Spurs everywhere on Saturday..and carry it on.

I thought the Alonzo goal was lucky, not as good as the one Gavin Ward (Tranmeres Goalkeeper) scored from his own area the other week, bet Alonzo can't do that again :salute :laugh

Have spoken to Scoot, he didn't realise that it was Alonso who scored against Luton also.

love beating newcastle - I cant stand them!

great goal from xabi, he was brilliant all game I thought.

as for bellamy, I really think he should have done better - heard on the radio this morning that there was a bust up with him and a couple of the newcastle players in the tunnel - anyone know anything about that?

garcia was brilliant too.

again I hope rafa sticks with kuyt and bellamy - think once bellamy puts one away, their confidence will rocket and hopefully so will their goals tally

The most important thing to come out of yesterday's game was three points. In the long run it'll matter more that we won and not that Kuyt got off the mark or Xabi scored a beauty.

The victory was well deserved, there's no doubt about it. We played well enough, not as well as we would have liked but well enough to know that things are on the right track.

Garcia again showed us how good a player he is. His link up play was great and had a lot of shots on goal. Was unlucky not to have scored. Kuyt's goal rememinded me of a typical poacher's goal. Now when was the last time we had a striker score a goal like that. It's what we've been missing all these years since Owen left. Moro/Cisse OUT, Kuyt/Bellamy IN, sounds good to me, very good infact!

It was Xabi's night. He hadn't been playing well enough for sometime now and it was up to him to step it up. And he did so, I thought he had a great game in a long long time, man of the match performance for me. His distribution was great and his passes were, esp. for Kuyt's goal, sublime. And to put the icing on the cake he did what not too many players are able to pull off. The goal speaks for itself.

Only downer from last night was our woeful finishing. It become a disease really. Kuyt and Bellamy were guilty more than once. We should have won by a greater margin for sure.

BTW: I hope the FA ban the dirty bitch Babayaro for what he did to Kuyt.

Incidently - bit surprised no-ones mentioned the bust up on here between Bellamy and Terry Mcdermott after the game that could be clearly seen going down the players tunnel.

Actually got told what happened today by someone in the dressing room area - nothing to severe really.

Mcdermott being a knob-end i heard. He deserves a slap.

Heard Bellamy had a Water bottle thrown at him during the game... Picked it up, took a swig, and threw it away...

Lovely...

Benitez who, before sanctioning his move from Ewood Park, spoke with the 27-year-old over his past reputation. "They were shouting for a few seconds and, for me, Craig is not guilty," the Spaniard said. "I have found him to be focused, mature and a very good example to the rest of the players. He understands this is his last opportunity at a big club and his behaviour has been perfect"

Well done too Pool, overall deserved the win. On our first half we deserved too lose.

Unfortunately the debate of penalties always comes into it but I think because we were unwilling to attack in the first we didn't really honour the decisions.

1] Babayaro should have been given a Red for slapping Kuyt and a Pen.

2] Ameobi was offside but you play to the decision and no offside was given and agger stopped a one on one. Professional foul.

3] Carragher deliberately stopped a goal

in all if it was the ref that did Blackburn and Sheffield then it would have been a penalty and card fest. 3 reds and 3 Penalties. I exclude babayaro's handball as he should have been off anyways with the same outcome.

IN all the gulf between us and the top 4 was apparent. Or perhaps the intimidation factor and 3 away games in 6 days is alot.

NO hard feelings didn't expect much. It is a pitty though against the bigs sides away we are intimidated to play yet at west ham we made them at times look like an away team.

Yeah i heard about the Belamy bust up, but heard it was with Carr. When he drunk from the water bottle, it was hilarious, all those gob****es were throwing stuff at him, he just picked it up, stood dead casually in front of em, and swigged it.

I heard Roeder said the Ref told him that he was going to give offside so he just let play run...

3] Carragher deliberately stopped a goal.

So did Parker- and then he Held his face even though it was nowhere near his face.

I see Baba's got a 3 match ban for slapping Kuyt:clap

Newcastle defender Celestine Babayaro faces a three-match ban after admitting a charge of violent conduct.
Babayaro was handed the charge for an incident in Newcastle's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in midweek.
The former Chelsea defender appeared to catch Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt in the face with his arm as they pair battled inside the box.
The incident was not spotted by referee Mark Halsey, but The Football Association decided to take action after viewing television footage.
An FA spokesman said: "Celestine Babayaro has admitted the charge and will be suspended for three games with immediate effect." Babayaro will now miss the games with Everton, Manchester United and Bolton and it leaves Magpies boss Glenn Roeder with a selection headache at left back.
