4-0 to Frankfurt!!!!! Thurk with a hat trick (2 penalties) 1 for Kohler. Brondby had 2 guys sent off in the 51st minutes --- all the goals came after.

There will be a party tonight in Frankfurt!!! Maybe a party on the Ziele. I wish I was there, I could imagine the specials in the Eros.:drinkbeer :drinkbeer

I saw most of the games and it was embaressing.
The worst team by the name Frankfurt beats the best team by the name. WHat a joke. Schalke played football beyond believe. In a negative sense :cool
Yes, I know that it is hard nowadays to play teams that play defensive, but it is going on for 3-4 years now and I do not know why I still watch german teams playing UEFA Cup... I have to say, I am sick of it.

The problem is too much football and too much football on tv.
Plus the fact that in the champions League the same rich clubs win most games.
The Uefa cup on a Thursday is annoying and Hertha got a crowd of 12,000 so alot of fans are getting sick !

Also this week's games in Europe underline how behind German football is compared to Italy, Spain and England and it puts the world cup 2006 in a more "real" view

Timonator
Sep 15 2006, 05:36 PM
The thing is most german clubs rely too much on average forgein player. Quantity instead of Quality is the motto in the Bundesliga! I mean in general...look at the sqauds of Hannover, Wolfsburg. They buy player from Albania, Rumania...not that these player are all bad but they are average at best, while they could give young german talents a chance. This you can find in many clubs also in top clubs like Schalke, Stuttgart, Leverkusen...

I get annoyed when i see that Hinkel left us and we bought a replacement for him (Osorio) when we could have gave Andreas Beck the chance to improve. Its just stupid transfer policity.

After all you have to blame the people who are in charge of leading the clubs. They are responsible for the transfers and everything that happens in a club. When i see the transfer policity of some clubs i feel like most of them are amateurs not 1st devision clubs. Its pretty sad.

Club football is all about money-which is why I love this forum in that it focuses on the NT and youth development-a side of the game that is based purely on talent.
If you want a forum that has 2,234 posts on how Van Nistelrooy and Man United do not speak to each other-then go to the milions of forums around.

I know I keep saying this-but it is all about money.
Germany gets the foreign players it can afford-that is why the best foreigners play in the big 3 leagues-where salary is double what German clubs can pay.
The same applies to managers-why would say Benitez leave Spanish champions Valencia to join Liverpool who came #4 in the league-or Mourinho leave Porto-Portuguese champions, CL winners to join Chelsea...the answer is not the English weather.

Then we have Arsenal who played at Hamburg with zero English players-so are they really an English club ?

Having said all of this-look at German clubs in Europe from say 1983/84-1995 you will be surprised at how badly we did.
There were less games then-VFB Stuttgart were bundesliga champions in 1984 and lost in the first round of the European Cup.
So 2 games-now we have six or more games were the clubs are exposed more and the defeats pile up.

Never in a millon years would a team like Bremen win or even tie at Chelsea.
Chelsea even played **** and still won-I just wonder how long fans will go with seeing their teams losing all the time ?
And it's not just German teams-Dutch, French, Belgian etc

I think also that a good number of football games are boring!

When you are in the stadium-you can watch the crowd, see players running on the pitch who are not near the ball, sing or shout...these real life experiences are taken away from us when we watch on tv.
So on tv we have commentators and analysis to make it seem exciting.
Yet football on tv with no commentator or talk would be boring.

Yet with football live on tv now every day-it makes it harder to sell and harder to hide the fact that football can be boring.

Entertain me, suprise me, win for me....These are the mantras of the boys that have never stood in rain and sleet a thursday evening and watched your team being tonked somewhere in the outbacks.
And it also tells me that many feel separated from your clubs..A strange and odd feeling I´m sure.

Forget the childish infatuations with how the game is played...that´s not real life for a footy fan.
Real life is singing when your losing, real life is a mix of anger, dispair and mindnumbing jubilations when your team scores...No one really cares how beautiful the goal was.
Real life is sitting next to a guy with a tattoed face while tears falls from his eyes as your team is losing..Real life is dancing on the tables in total abandon as your team wins.

And this is the game some find boring...Turn off the telly a week and experience real life, that´s what I tell tem..lol

But like DV mentioned the media output of footy is enormous nowadays and of course some games are not worth watching UNLESS you feel for the teams involved.
You will never catch me watching Porto vs Arsenal for example...Being a football fan is very different from being a fan of football.

It's so funny to see that German supporters always seem to get so surprised when their team fail against a Danish side... If you bothered to take a short look at past EC history, then more German teams have been eliminated by Danish teams in the EC than Danish teams getting eliminated by German teams, the past 20 years or so. So it will not be all that big a surprise if Herta fail against Odense. It's much more of a surprise that Brøndby (who were seeded) lost 4-0 away to Frankfurt..

Schalke and Hertha are two clubs with poor management-and I dont mean the coach alone.
Ernst for example was one of the best BL players for years at Bremen-he goes to Schalke and is average every game-same with Bordon.
kuranyi has fallen too and Asamoah-not the same player from 2001.
Remember Hertha were in the CL and beating Milan 1-0..seems like 200 years ago now.

Seriously we have enough good talents in Germany you just have to give them a chance over a longer period and not put them on the bench after one bad game. Thats why i admire the work of Schaaf and Funkel both trust the youth and are successful with it.

Truth is Messi is an amazing talent but lots of times only used as a sub...i wanna see how he does when he gets to play full 90 minutes. there is a difference in playing 90 min. or 10min.

It's a bold statement but one I happen to agree with. I don't think Messi has the fire and temperament of Diego but as for out-and-out skill he is right up there with him. Messi is a South American breed, I doubt you'll ever see such a player emerge from Germany or Europe for that matter, his skill makes Trochowski look like Olaf Marschall. Him and Tevez are the most skilful players I think I've seen emerge in my lifetime, laugh if you will but they are quite simply different class in my opinion.

BTW, who is that in your avatar Bast?

tough, tough group for us :drinkbeer

Needless to say,it is a tough group for the German duo, but nothing is impossible in football.I put my money on Leverkusen if they are in-form and they have to win against Dynamo Bucharest and Beskistas whether it is home win or away win. Moreover, they are capable of snatching a point from Club Brugge if they are effective up front.Even Tottenham Hotspur is not unbeatable if LEVERKUSEN are well determined because TOTTENHAM lacks European experience.

As to Entract Frankfurt, the simplest formulae to advance to the next stage is to win against Fenerbache and Celta Vigo and only Newcastle United may forge a serious challenge in this group.Palermo is not also this much strong to win against FRANKFURT as Italian clubs mix brilliance with inconsistency.FRANKFURT has to learn from SCHALKE 04 how they defeated Palermo last season 3-0.

Fabulous draw for Frankfurt, seriously, what can happen to them in the hardest group there is? when they crush out, they at least have earned good money and the players gained experience against strong international opponents, but I see Frankfurt having a decent chance to go through; they have nothing to loose and are playing successful, despite having injury problems. They lost no game this season.

Leverkusen? They should go through, if we do not see the good old Leverkusen lazyness once again.

The average gate in Italian football so far this season..19.600

The average gate in Germany so far this season...39.492

Looks like people are voting with their feet in regards to boring football when not a single club can sell out their games..?

And with regards to Palermo we DID beat you twice last season..1-0 away and 3-0 at home so I think I know what I´m talking about.
I got some pics to prove it...:cool

iam not going to waste my time on the german threads german football is boring and sad to watch

Fine fu*k off then except I counted three posts after this, aren't you supposed to piss off after you throw you toys against the crib with the classic 'I'm not playing anymore lark?'. I couldn't give a stuff about Italian football, which incidentally is why you won't see me post there, have you figured out how this thing works yet? Shut the door on your way out this place is beginning to smell like parmesan (old women's fanny).

So anyway back to the football, Frankfurt were a bit unlucky I thought but they are a pretty average team all in all who don't stand much chance getting any further in my view. Meier was ok but I don't think Low will be giving him the invitation just yeT.

That'd work for me!
...but every now and then you gotta let someone else win once in a while just to be sporting about the whole thing!

Italian football is one of most boring football in the world(that doesnt meant is low level football)Just remember 2003 CL final and thats how many games are played in Italy.Speaking objective i have to say it is indeed boring... But hey, the italian teams are always hard to beat, they know how to handle games and are always hard to beat in defense, and they have been successfull through the history¡

I can explain, it all started last night when a wild haired old professor and his dog (Einstein) appeared at my door. They said my future was in grave danger and that I had to go with them back to 1955...the next thing I knew.... "Mr. Sandman, 'Hey Mcfly, anybody home?' etc. etc.

To cut a long story I waited 51 years to cut that little prank and despite being an old man now with irritable bowel syndrome, it was worth every god-dammed minute. There case closed.

We won 5-0, I scored a hat-trick. Claudia Schiffer accompanied me to the winning dressing room and I dropped my load all down her tits in about 3 seconds flat, "my god I've never seen such volume" she said, Claudia then proceeded to put on a little show for me involving the world cup and, ahem, various parts of her anatomy...and then......

....The fukkin alarm clock goes off and I wake up I'm my own poxy little bedroom requiring a change of underwear, man I hate that.

Looks like the knockouts bring some good tilt's!
Bremen vs Ajax (not a very long commute for this battle) I give the edge to Bremen naturally!
...and also
Leverkusen vs Blackburn (English team vs a German team always makes for a good battle) This all depends which Leverkusen team shows up I supose.
